Appointment access remains a dominant concern across feedback, with patients reporting significant difficulties securing timely consultations through both phone and online booking systems. Reception experience emerges as a key issue, with multiple accounts of discourteous staff, poor communication about appointment status, and patients feeling unwelcome when seeking assistance. Medication management presents recurring problems, including delayed prescription processing, discontinuation without notification, and gaps in communication between the practice and pharmacy.
However, positive experiences highlight compassionate doctors, professional nursing care, and welcoming administrative staff who demonstrate genuine commitment to patient wellbeing. The practice shows capability in digital services and responsive communication when systems function effectively, though operational inconsistencies create frustration. Continuity of care and organisation require improvement to match the quality of clinical expertise some patients report experiencing.

BadDoctors don’t care
Told the doctor who didn’t do anything to help me; that I may as well kill myself if there’s nothing to be done about my problem and she didn’t flinch. Just gave me attitude and tried to tell me she was doing what she was meant to. Didn’t listen to me at all. Got basic medical knowledge wrong and as per usual, treated the symptoms and not the chronic problem. Walked out of there balling my eyes out having a panic attack. Not one person bothered about my welfare and I’m still suffering with original health problem. No one cares about anyone anymore.

Doctors who don't care about patients
This medical practice is absolutely useless. The only way to secure an appointment is through online booking, and if you try calling, you're immediately told they're at capacity and advised to visit urgent care or contact NHS 111 - which is incredibly challenging when you're struggling to breathe due to COPD. The staff demonstrate zero compassion, and the doctors' approach is a brief, dismissive consultation where they hastily prescribe medication and rush you out the door. The whole experience is completely unacceptable and feels like a mockery of proper healthcare.

Urine test confusion at two different places
I was instructed to undergo a urine test. The first test at my general practitioner's office showed no abnormalities, but the hospital test revealed the presence of blood, leukocytes, and bacteria in my urine. It's deeply concerning when an unqualified nurse takes liberties in making judgments about a patient's health condition.

Helpful doctors and quick appointments online
No idea why people are leaving negative feedback, as my interactions here have been absolutely fantastic. I typically get referred from The Hawthorne Surgery when they can't accommodate me - which usually means faster appointments, and it works brilliantly! Throughout my visits, I've encountered some of the most wonderful, accessible, and exceptional doctors - during a cholesterol review, a blood test, and a zoladex injection. Each professional was confident, clear, and incredibly supportive. During the cholesterol consultation, an experienced physician brilliantly simplified complex information and soothed my anxieties about potential health concerns (despite the alarming text message I initially received!). For the blood test and injection, both doctors were swift and delicate, making the entire experience truly pleasant. When scheduling appointments, I strongly advise AGAINST telephone contact. Instead, utilize the NHS App for online communication. It's exponentially more straightforward, as calling means they'll complete forms on your behalf - which you can easily do yourself! Be precise about your medical issue and provide clear availability notes. Essentially, help them help you. The reception staff have been consistently pleasant, most recently assisting me with obtaining a doctor's letter for LASIK. While there's a £45 fee for such documentation, it wasn't problematic for me as a one-time expense. I acknowledge that frequent such requests could become financially burdensome. Nonetheless, they're genuinely kind individuals who even demonstrate understanding about tardiness if you communicate in advance! I've certainly encountered some challenging personalities at medical facilities and wouldn't be surprised if some negative reviews stem from such interactions. It's understandable - many patients might be seriously ill and feeling desperate, unlike myself. However, I don't believe this lack of civility ultimately benefits anyone. The mistreatment of NHS staff is genuinely appalling.

Miserable e coli struggle with unhelpful staff
This medical practice is undoubtedly the most incompetent healthcare facility I've ever encountered. I'm currently battling e coli and experiencing extreme difficulty sleeping, eating, and maintaining hydration. In an attempt to secure a medical consultation before hospitalization, I was informed that I must complete a form at 6:30 am, despite the clinic not opening until 8 am. I explained that given my current condition, rising at such an early hour is completely impossible. The entire practice is utterly worthless - from the doctors to the receptionist, their lack of compassion and basic patient care is appalling. I wouldn't recommend this surgery to anyone, not even if they were on their literal deathbed.

Terrible doctors who don't care
Abbey Field Medical Centre. Complete Disgrace I'm utterly appalled by the abysmal operations of this medical practice. The standard of care, communication, and professionalism here doesn't just fall short—it's an outright insult to patients. The staff are consistently discourteous, unhelpful, and seemingly indifferent to patients' needs. Basic human compassion appears non-existent here. Whether you're attempting to communicate by phone or in person, you're made to feel like an inconvenience rather than someone seeking medical assistance. The physicians I've encountered are woefully uninformed, dismissive, and appear completely detached from their professional responsibilities. One particularly shocking interaction revealed their alarming lack of medical knowledge and, even more disturbingly, their apparent lack of genuine concern. Patients enter seeking help and exit feeling more defeated, bewildered, and abandoned than before. Securing an appointment is an exercise in futility. When you finally manage to connect with someone, you're shuffled between staff or simply ignored. The rare occasions you do receive attention feel rushed and careless, as though you're being processed through an assembly line rather than receiving personalized medical care. People seek general practitioners seeking support, reassurance, and treatment—not to be marginalized, disrespected, and patronized. This facility is fundamentally broken, operating more like a callous business than a healthcare provider with a profound responsibility to human lives. My confidence in this practice has completely evaporated. It's genuinely terrifying to contemplate that individuals' health—and potentially their lives—are entrusted to professionals who seem disinterested and disconnected. To anyone considering registration: avoid this place. To staff who might consider this acceptable: it absolutely is not. Patients deserve dignity, comprehensive care, and competent professionals. Abbey Field Medical Centre provides none of these fundamental requirements.

Impossible to get a doctor's appointment here
Abbey field medical centre forces patients to navigate a frustrating online booking system that's completely useless. Nearly all the time, they respond by claiming they're out of emergency slots, and simultaneously block any attempts to schedule future appointments in advance.

Frustrating fight for my allergy medication
I'm constantly being denied my EpiPen Auto Injector by staff who claim it's not documented, despite having multiple previous prescriptions. At 30 years old, I'm still dealing with serious bee and wasp allergies. These receptionists need to back off - they're supposed to be helping patients, not acting like authoritarian gatekeepers.

Impossible to see a doctor here
Absolutely dreadful medical practice. Booking an appointment is virtually impossible, and even if you manage to secure one, they consistently fail to follow through. The level of service is appallingly substandard and completely unacceptable.

Rude reception manager caused unnecessary drama
The reception manager was incredibly discourteous and seemed completely clueless, despite me having already clarified everything with three different staff members and a doctor beforehand. She contacted me unprovoked, causing unnecessary tension by attempting to contradict the information I had previously been given. After my consultation with the doctor, I had no outstanding issues, so I was bewildered by her aggressive and unwarranted intervention.

Not perfect but decent local clinic
Not nearly as terrible as some claim, the medical professionals here have their ups and downs, though the top-notch doctors are genuinely excellent. It's fair to say the front desk personnel can come across as curt occasionally, but wouldn't anyone feel frustrated after dealing with demanding patients who believe they can dictate terms? Get real, people—if you want premium service, be prepared to pay for it!

Waiting room nightmare with zero care
Getting a consultation here is a nightmare - scheduling is a herculean task, and you'd practically need to be on the brink of fainting before they pay any attention to you. The medical staff rotation is chaotic, with recommended supplementary services perpetually being scrapped, and the team is constantly stretched thin. The entire operation is fundamentally disorganized and ineffective.

Worst surgery ever with terrible staff
It's the absolute worst and most unprofessional surgical experience I've ever had. They took an eternity to pick up the phone, and when they finally did, the staff were incredibly discourteous. The employees seemed completely clueless about their responsibilities and basic customer service.

Worst medical centre ever avoided
Abbey Field Medical Centre seems dedicated to undermining patients' health and emotional state. The reception staff display consistent discourtesy and disrespect, while demonstrating remarkable ineptitude in managing even basic administrative tasks. Their communication is dismally ineffective, and there's a complete absence of leadership or management willing to confront the numerous systemic problems plaguing the practice. Steer clear.

Quick care after my skiing injury
I suffered an ACL injury while in Austria and underwent surgical treatment overseas. AbbeyFields medical centre has been incredibly supportive and prompt in coordinating my nursing consultations, supplying necessary prescriptions, and connecting me with an orthopaedic specialist. Their communication is impressively quick, with most inquiries receiving a response on the same day! I'm thoroughly satisfied with the quality of care and assistance they've offered throughout my rehabilitation process.

Rude doctor mocked me during phone call
Dr. S Stacey displayed an incredibly disrespectful attitude, mockingly laughing while I was attempting to get clarity about the procedure, despite paying £115 and simply wanting to understand what the process would involve. The conversation concluded with an unacceptably dismissive and unprofessional demeanor that left me feeling completely disregarded.

Compassionate care during tough times
I'd like to express my sincere appreciation for Abbey Fields and Hawthorne's exceptional service lately. They've been incredibly responsive with scheduling, and every staff member—from the nursing team to the physicians and administrative personnel—has been outstanding during what has been a challenging period for me. There's absolutely nothing I can criticize about their care.
