The nursing staff are exceptional, but I'm increasingly skeptical about the constraints placed on NHS physicians. Despite clearly meeting the criteria for a potentially grave medical condition, I'm being denied an MRI scan! What options does a patient have for proper medical investigation? The situation has become so frustrating that I'm compelled to seek care elsewhere and switch from this particular general practice to safeguard my well-being.

Unprofessional doctor ruins entire medical practice

The practice is mediocre at best, with a particularly problematic physician, Dr. Clements. She accused me of dishonesty and appears to have a pattern of excessive medication prescription. Steer clear of her without question! Update: I completely rescind my previous mild assessment - this practice is unacceptable. The level of dismissive behavior, aggressive communication, and unprofessional interactions with management were shocking. They were completely unwilling to listen to my concerns. Their communication was inconsistent and contradictory, alternating between claims of recording conversations and denying such. This establishment should be shut down immediately.

Indifferent and incompetent Medical Practice Their appointment booking system is a mess, sending incorrect links and then arbitrarily canceling scheduled visits without any remorse or effort to make amends. I've been left waiting for three weeks just to consult a doctor. When patients voice legitimate concerns, their response is to suggest finding another practice instead of addressing the issue professionally. Upon highlighting their repeated failures, they responded with intimidating threats of a "zero tolerance" policy, effectively dismissing my valid complaints.

Disappointing care leads to better medical practice

It breaks my heart reading other patients' comments. My own encounter with this medical practice was far from satisfactory. I've since switched to a different local clinic with incredibly welcoming reception staff and wonderfully progressive physicians. Abbey has considerable room for improvement to match the quality of care I now experience. There are numerous superior doctors in the area, and I would strongly advise anyone feeling dissatisfied to seek alternative care. I absolutely do not regret making this change, and the improvement is remarkable. Now I feel genuinely heard and actively involved in my healthcare decisions, rather than being talked down to and treated with obvious irritation. It's also pleasing to note that the most discourteous GP has apparently departed. I want to clarify that the nurses at Abbey have always been excellent; it's primarily the doctors who fall short of expectations.

Dr Houlton conducted a comprehensive evaluation of my injury, offering guidance and choices with genuine compassion. She arranged an immediate X-ray to check for potential fractures (thankfully, none were found), and I was back home by 1pm. To my pleasant surprise, I've since received a follow-up text checking on my pain management. During my visit, I observed the receptionists skillfully and patiently assisting patients, efficiently handling prescription requests to minimize patient stress and unnecessary trips. They maintained this exceptional service level even amidst the most extensive junior doctor strike in recent history. Heartfelt appreciation goes to the entire staff for their remarkable dedication to our community's healthcare.

Terrible healthcare with zero customer service skills

Building upon Marco's observations and adding my own experience, today's receptionist was utterly ineffective, prefacing every negative statement with a timid "I'm afraid..." When I pointed out that other medical practices were offering in-person consultations, her dismissive response was simply, "well we're not". She was also quick to rule out Saturday appointments. And that seems to be that... These comments were originally penned two years ago, and I never imagined this practice could deteriorate further. Their waiting room consistently sits empty, yet securing an appointment is seemingly impossible. I submitted a straightforward written request, and over a month later, I'm still awaiting even a basic acknowledgment, let alone a resolution. The service is so monumentally terrible that "I'm afraid" I must award zero stars, and I absolutely would not support any salary increase for this complete organizational disaster.

Scheduling a medical consultation has become incredibly challenging. I called today seeking a consultation about my hormone replacement therapy, only to be informed they exclusively book phone appointments just 4 days ahead. To secure a slot, I must ring daily, yet the earliest doctor's availability is 4 weeks away - which is completely unacceptable. Prior to the pandemic, I never encountered such difficulties. Why are medical practices the only services still operating with such restrictive and frustrating systems? My frustration and distress go far beyond mere annoyance.

Since November 21st, 2019, I've observed a significant improvement in the level of support. The staff have become genuinely caring and attentive, reminiscent of their past performance. I'm considerably more satisfied now that I can be seen much more quickly. The physicians and nursing staff are consistently pleasant and extremely diligent. It seems they've rediscovered their spark and enthusiasm! ☺

Despite this, I've consistently found the front desk personnel to be incredibly supportive and understanding. The medical professionals, particularly Dr. Taplin, Dr. Clements, and Dr. Cavanagh, have always been exceptional in their care. Post-COVID, securing a timely doctor's consultation has become more difficult, and I've noticed the waiting area seems overwhelmed with patients struggling with obesity who frequently smoke immediately after leaving the clinic. This observation might be significant in understanding the broader health dynamics of the practice's patient population.

Not entirely satisfactory, encountered a physician who seemed dismissive and unhelpful, with an attitude that came across as somewhat superior and belittling. To be fair, my interactions with other doctors at the practice have been fine. Unprofessional midwife service left me completely frustrated

Just attended my scheduled midwife consultation, and the experience was incredibly frustrating. Upon arrival, the reception team claimed no midwife had appeared that day, merely taking my name and directing me to wait. After sitting for five minutes, I inquired about my appointment status, only to be told they were uncertain and that the midwife typically arrives later in the day. When I requested assistance in contacting someone, they handed me a phone number to resolve the issue myself! The customer service was absolutely abysmal - they seemed completely disinterested and appeared content to let me waste hours waiting with no clear indication of when or if I'd be seen. The zero tolerance staff abuse notice in the waiting room suddenly made perfect sense to me - with this level of negligent service, I can easily understand why patients might become frustrated and angry!
