Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a stark contrast in patient experiences at this practice. Clinical staff, including doctors and nurses, consistently receive praise for their professionalism, attentiveness, and medical expertise. However, this positive clinical care is substantially undermined by widespread difficulties with appointment access, reception experience, and communication.

Patients report significant barriers to booking appointments, with many describing the process as nearly impossible—whether calling at opening times, attempting online booking, or visiting in person. Long telephone waiting times, unavailable appointment slots, and inconsistent information from reception staff feature prominently across reviews. Beyond appointment challenges, reception experience emerges as a critical concern, with multiple accounts of discourteous, dismissive, and unhelpful interactions.

Patients describe feeling disrespected and unsupported during vulnerable moments. A smaller number of reviews acknowledge positive reception experiences and express satisfaction with the overall service, suggesting variability in staff conduct and patient interactions. The practice environment and responsiveness to patient concerns also require attention, with communication breakdowns between administrative and clinical teams creating frustration. While clinical excellence is evident, the administrative and reception systems require substantial improvement to deliver a consistently supportive care experience.

Terrible healthcare service that left me frustrated

I've encountered the absolute worst medical facility imaginable! Accessing a physician seems completely unattainable. They persistently redirect me to a pharmacy. Today, when I attempted to obtain a prescription due to feeling extremely unwell, I was once again denied, and the receptionist abruptly terminated our conversation in a discourteous manner. I was left feeling utterly devastated and unsupported.

Rude receptionist ruins medical office experience

The medical staff are pleasant, but there's one receptionist—a blonde woman—who is absolutely terrible and seems completely miscast in her role. Her attitude is unbelievably unprofessional, and she lacks even the most basic interpersonal skills. I've witnessed her consistently treating patients with disrespect, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere for anyone attempting to interact with her. During my most recent visit, which already involved a frustratingly long wait of ninety minutes, I observed her repeatedly opening and closing her service window seemingly at her own convenience. Whenever she appeared uninterested in assisting patients, she would simply shut her window, only to reappear moments later. Her behavior is utterly unacceptable, and I doubt any amount of professional training could remedy her fundamentally poor approach to customer service. She is, without question, the wrong person for this job.

Unhygienic doctor leaves patient feeling deeply concerned

I am utterly appalled by the abysmal standards of hygiene and patient care at this medical practice. The physician conducted an examination of my infant without using gloves and deemed it acceptable to inspect my baby's mouth bare-handed. This is completely unacceptable and deeply disturbing. The restroom facilities were devoid of soap and hand sanitizer, and the hand gel dispensers in the hallway were equally empty. The general practitioner who attended to me was clearly subpar. I have serious doubts about the professional competence and cleanliness of this entire healthcare establishment.

Worst medical center ever terrible service and attitude

The medical practice at Abbey Road Surgery in Waltham Cross consists of unhelpful, discourteous, and unprofessional staff who seem more interested in obstructing patient care than supporting it. The reception team displays a consistently negative attitude towards patients, appearing perpetually disinterested and preoccupied with personal activities like consuming coffee and snacks. Attempting to schedule appointments via telephone is futile, and in-person interactions are equally frustrating, with staff constantly inventing excuses to avoid assistance. The communication breakdown between medical personnel and administrative staff is remarkable, with contradictory information being routinely provided. Despite a doctor recommending next-day consultations, receptionists consistently claim the earliest available slot is weeks away. I experienced the additional indignity of being unexpectedly removed from the clinic's patient list during an ongoing treatment period, forcing me to seek alternative medical care to continue my health management. I cannot emphasize enough how strongly I advise against utilizing this facility; anyone valuing their health should unequivocally seek medical services elsewhere.

Rude receptionist ruins entire medical office experience

The receptionist displayed a notably poor demeanor. During my time in line, I observed her visibly expressing frustration, with dramatic eye-rolling and audible sighs while interacting with other patients. When my turn arrived, I personally encountered the same dismissive and disgruntled approach. Such behavior is completely inappropriate, especially in a setting where individuals are seeking essential medical assistance and support.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service

An absolute zero-star experience with this utterly pointless surgical procedure. The communication is a complete shambles, with departments seemingly operating in total isolation. They repeatedly fail to follow through on promised timelines, continuously brushing off my concerns about medication and leaving me completely in the dark.

Friendly staff make medical visits a pleasant experience

I consistently receive top-notch customer service from the staff at Abbey Road, which is a welcome change after switching from another practice with discourteous front desk personnel. The team members are invariably courteous, understanding, accommodating, and compassionate. They always succeed in scheduling me an appointment. Much appreciation!

Disrespectful receptionist ruined my medical experience

It breaks my heart to pen this review because my primary care physician is truly exceptional! He demonstrates unwavering dedication to his profession, and I've consistently felt listened to and supported. The majority of the administrative staff are also quite pleasant. Nevertheless, it's deeply distressing when a single individual can completely undermine your perception of an entire medical practice. I'm specifically referring to the receptionist with the brown hair and bangs. I was absolutely stunned when she began reading my confidential medical documentation aloud, seemingly oblivious to the unnecessary public exposure. When I attempted to guide her to the specific note she required, she completely disregarded my input (having personally reviewed my records, I was certain of the details). The entire interaction struck me as profoundly disrespectful, leaving me feeling entirely dismissed. Patients arrive at a medical practice already burdened by health challenges, which can be inherently overwhelming. I sincerely hope that every staff member can cultivate compassion and empathy within their professional roles.

Terrible healthcare experience left me feeling hopeless

I spent more than 60 minutes waiting on the phone, finally securing an appointment only to be scheduled a full week later. Upon meeting the doctor, I was dismissed with a self-referral pamphlet and website link after vulnerably sharing my struggles with self-harm and suicide attempt. The receptionist displayed a complete lack of empathy and courtesy, and the doctor was equally unprofessional—running late, rushing through our consultation, and offering minimal support during a critical moment of personal crisis.

Terrible service from gp clinic ruins patient experience

I rarely write reviews, but I'm extremely frustrated with this general practitioner. For the past three days, I've been attempting to reach them, and as a diabetic with high blood pressure, I urgently need to consult a doctor about my repeat prescription and health management. I've even tried contacting them through their website, yet I've received no callback or response. I'm unclear about their operations, but they clearly lack any semblance of customer service. I absolutely cannot recommend this GP to anyone, and they deserve serious scrutiny. I intend to report them to a watchdog organization due to their complete unprofessionalism.

Racist receptionist ruins first gp visit experience

The receptionist is a middle-aged Caucasian woman with black hair and bangs, wearing a long skirt. We recently switched our family's general practitioner due to distance, and my mother has heart failure requiring critical medication. This receptionist demonstrated extreme unprofessionalism, and I strongly suspect racial discrimination. When white patients were ahead of us, she was warm and friendly, with a pleasant demeanor and welcoming tone. However, when our turn came, her attitude dramatically shifted. Her facial expression soured, and her communication became hostile and dismissive. I politely inquired about transferring my mother's medical records and medication history to the new GP, who currently had no documentation. Given my mother's critical health needs, I wanted to ensure her records were properly handled. Instead of assisting, the receptionist became aggressive, abruptly telling my mother and me to leave the surgery, claiming she had other patients and tasks. Her response was unwarranted, considering my respectful approach. I found this differential treatment deeply distressing and unacceptable, feeling we were deliberately marginalized based on our racial background.
