Incompetent practice blocking essential medical care
A complete embarrassment. There's zero communication between healthcare providers and patients, between administrative staff and patients, and seemingly among all staff members at the practice. I've been with them since July, and despite a cross-over referral from my previous mental health team clearly stating I needed immediate referral within a week, six months have passed. They've only just contacted me to say I must restart the entire process because they've misplaced my referral letter. Additionally, after receiving a new diagnosis during a hospital stay, I personally delivered the documentation to the GP surgery. I explicitly requested referrals to the neurological department and for physical therapy. Despite making three follow-up calls, I've heard absolutely nothing after four months. This situation is genuinely appalling. Their sheer incompetence is effectively preventing me from accessing essential medical care. -10 stars

Worst medical experience of my frustrating life
The service is abysmal. Despite being registered for 8 years, the only positive aspect was the practice nurses conducting routine tests. When I sought help for back pain years ago, the GP dismissively claimed I was too young to experience such issues, forcing me to seek private physiotherapy. I've been struggling with persistent reflux for a year, receiving only online consultations with unfamiliar doctors. Test results never made it back through the surgery, and after three visits inquiring about their status, they had no record and I had to restart the entire process. Attempting to book an appointment was futile, with availability ending before 8:35am. My requests for help with eConsult registration were repeatedly ignored and brushed aside. I've since changed surgeries, successfully scheduling an online telephone appointment through eConsult. I strongly suspect this practice intentionally creates barriers to patient care, either due to inability to manage patient volume or sheer incompetence, ultimately driving patients away.

When she requested a doctor's callback, they again refused. She even attempted an e-consult, only to be told to try again the next day. This has happened three times, with each interaction ending in the same dismissive manner. How on earth is she supposed to recover if she can't even secure a consultation or communication with a healthcare professional? The way they've handled her situation is completely unacceptable and shamefully unprofessional.

I've been around this place for more than half a century, and the deterioration is evident. Only one respectable individual remains. Some folks really need to adapt and integrate. There's a complete lack of courtesy, civility, and professionalism—everyone seems solely motivated by financial gain and making excuses. Disrespectful reception destroys patient care at alma
I've dedicated my entire working life to the NHS since age 17 and retired just two years ago. Alma medical centre has typically offered excellent service, but today was absolutely unbearable. While the receptionists are usually helpful, I've never been treated with such disrespect regarding my NHS contributions. Ryan, who was severely distressed from an asthma attack, accompanied me, and the reception manager spoke to me as if I were invisible. The initial phone receptionist was smirking behind the manager's back, which was completely unacceptable. I was told to call back at 2pm, knowing we wouldn't secure an appointment, and when I did, I was the 21st caller in line. Alma road surgery was aware of my situation with Ryan, yet showed zero compassion. The reception manager even suggested they would be writing me a formal letter about my "outburst" today. The only understanding person was the nurse, who couldn't genuinely intervene. Ryan, who hasn't had an asthma attack in over six months, was essentially left to suffer without medical attention. I declared I would not return to this surgery and was essentially dismissed. I cannot comprehend why the letter I wrote to the doctor yesterday wasn't reviewed or used to diagnose and resolve Ryan's asthma situation. We were effectively forced out and subsequently visited the Royal South Hants Hospital walking centre, where they saw Ryan without comment - though their expressions spoke volumes. This is an absolutely deplorable situation, with everyone at the surgery closing ranks. We now face the prospect of finding another medical practice, with not even a hint of an apology.

THIS MEDICAL PRACTICE IS COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED According to their website, the digital consultation platform supposedly opens at 8am, but when you log in at that time, you're greeted with a message stating "your practice is not accepting online appointments at this time, try submitting a request again from 8am tomorrow" - EXCEPT IT DOESN'T WORK the following day either. When I resort to calling, I discover I'm more than 20th in the telephone queue. How am I supposed to manage my work commitments if I'm forced to waste an entire hour just trying to reach my healthcare provider?

It's appalling that you require payment just to be reached by phone. What if someone's life was in danger and they had no available funds to make the call? Medical professionals should absolutely provide a complimentary contact line. The current system is completely unacceptable and shows a total lack of compassion.
