Helpful receptionist

While it can sometimes be hard to contact the surgery get an urgent appointment, I recently had a very good experience with a receptionist at the practice when I had a few different things to sort out. She was friendly, helpful and patient and managed to sort the (non-urgent) appointments for me efficiently.

Nightmare with gp prescription mix-up

Extremely unsatisfactory healthcare assistance The general practitioner recommended a medication that cannot be sourced at any local pharmacy, nor is it available for special order. When I attempted to contact the GP to modify the prescription, they mistakenly issued an adult dosage for a pediatric patient. I was compelled to reach out again. Their communication is abysmal - the phone line consistently claims I'm "first in queue" for an interminable 10 minutes. If I patiently wait with the phone muted, they suddenly answer and disconnect before I can unmute. Repeated attempts yield the identical frustrating experience, with the queue message persisting for up to 15 minutes.

Unhelpful staff and no real doctor access

The front desk personnel display a sense of irritation and mild discourtesy from the moment they pick up the phone. Moreover, I'm skeptical about the presence of physicians at this facility, given the extreme difficulty in securing an in-person medical consultation. Despite being a patient at AMC for nearly seven years and attempting to schedule appointments approximately three times, I have not managed to meet a doctor face-to-face even once during this entire period.

Booking nightmare at this clinic

Getting a doctor's appointment here is a complete nightmare. They claim you can book online, but when you actually try, the website clearly indicates they don't provide doctor appointment services! It's utterly ridiculous. The only option is to call at 8 AM and essentially play a game of chance to secure a slot. Despite being someone who's typically healthy and rarely needs medical attention, on the rare occasions I've required a consultation, I've been redirected to the walk-in centre instead.

Staff were super helpful and kind

I recently registered with Alwoodley medical centre and I'm thoroughly delighted. The staff have been incredibly supportive and compassionate so far. They're a significant improvement compared to the Woodhouse/Chandos practice, which has clearly deteriorated. In just one week, I've achieved more progress than I've managed in several years. Completely satisfied. Many thanks to the entire team. However, I've just discovered they no longer serve the Harewood area, so I'll need to locate another practice. It's quite peculiar, especially since I've been with them since moving here in August!

I've decided to switch medical practices due to the declining quality of service. Here, patients are treated like mere statistics. Scheduling appointments is a challenge, and communication lacks coherence. I'm constantly forced to follow up to obtain any medical information. Despite raising my concerns, the situation has only deteriorated. In my opinion, the practice is overwhelmed by an excessive patient load.
