Dr. Amirthan not only addressed my medical issues but did so with exceptional compassion and understanding. He gave me his full attention, gently prompted me to elaborate on my concerns, and maintained a remarkably supportive demeanor. The interaction felt natural and comfortable, eliminating my usual medical appointment anxiety. In stark contrast to my current surgery in Broxbourne, which has significantly deteriorated in quality. The reception team demonstrated professionalism, courtesy, and helpfulness throughout my visit. The practice environment was vibrant, welcoming, and immaculately maintained, with a pleasant, spacious feel. I am sincerely hoping my request to become a patient at this practice will be successful. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. I genuinely cannot find a single criticism to make about this practice. The entire team deserves high praise - they are truly outstanding! So far, I have no complaints about the medical procedure. The front desk personnel are courteous and treat patients with respect, which is a refreshing change from past experiences. They are particularly attentive and kind to elderly patients. With the exception of one physician (whom I'll refrain from identifying), the doctors are highly competent, and two of them are truly exceptional.

The consultation felt remarkably personal, reminiscent of the warm, comprehensive conversations one might have experienced with a trusted family doctor decades ago.

Daughter's pain left unaddressed for two years

I'm deeply frustrated after enduring a nine-month wait for my daughter's physiotherapy referral, only to discover that the medical practice completely mishandled the consultant's request and, worse, failed to communicate with me as her parent. My daughter has been suffering constant pain, relying on daily painkillers, and now I've learned I must restart the entire process from scratch! We've now spent two full years trying to address her initial symptoms since first contacting the surgery. I want to confirm that I was registered with your practice until today - and as of now, I am no longer a patient. I'm convinced that lodging a complaint with the practice manager won't resolve the fundamental failure to provide appropriate care for my daughter over the past nine months. However, I believe sharing this review serves the public interest by highlighting these systemic issues, and hopefully will prompt your management to implement preventative measures to stop similar negligence happening to other patients in the future.

He attentively listened to my concerns and quickly grasped the intense discomfort I was experiencing from carpal tunnel syndrome. He went to extraordinary lengths to schedule steroid injection appointments as promptly as possible and administered the injection with remarkable precision, minimizing my discomfort. He thoroughly explained all details about the procedure and maintained a warm, engaging conversation throughout, which significantly helped calm my nerves during what was an anxiety-inducing situation. Moreover, every single staff member I've interacted with, whether via telephone or in person, has been remarkably welcoming and pleasant!

Quick consultation left me feeling frustrated

I arrived for my surgical consultation today dealing with a highly personal and sensitive matter, which already had me feeling uneasy and anxious. What I found completely unacceptable was the extremely brief consultation lasting mere minutes, followed by a recommendation for a cream that the physician herself acknowledged was ineffective. If the cream fails, her alternative suggestion was simply to sit on some frozen peas. I'm bewildered by this approach - I certainly don't contribute taxes to the NHS to receive prescriptions or advice that the prescribing doctor admits are pointless, which could potentially pose additional health risks. Given the extensive education and training required to become a medical professional, I would expect a far more competent and serious approach to patient care. It seems the pinnacle of medical advice in this surgery is suggesting patients sit on a bag of frozen vegetables. Absolutely appalling!

Rude staff blocked my surgery registration

I submitted my application to register with the practice via their online portal, and received a response stating I was outside their service region. Yet, upon examining their own map, it's evident that I am unquestionably within their designated area. When I telephoned to clarify that my postcode from a recently constructed residence might not be accurately represented in their system, the staff member was incredibly discourteous and completely disregarded my explanation. Furthermore, she terminated our call abruptly not once, but twice during our discussion.

Amwell is a brilliant surgery. The admin team are amazing and go that extra mile. Always friendly and helpful. GPs are the best. I am lucky to be a patient. They do a fabulous job in a difficult time.

Missed glandular fever with phone flashlight

I'm extremely frustrated with a specific nurse at this medical practice who provided a completely incorrect diagnosis. Given my history of severe throat infections and the challenge of securing appointments due to their rapid filling, I've repeatedly been seen by this nurse who mistakenly prescribed tonsillitis medication when I actually had Glandular Fever. This misdiagnosis caused my condition to worsen and persist. Eventually, a doctor examined me properly, noting my severely swollen right tonsil and enlarged glands, and promptly ordered a blood test along with potent antibiotics. His approach was effective because he accurately identified my condition. The surgery later confirmed it was Glandular Fever, a potentially serious illness if not treated correctly. The nurse's unprofessional approach, using only a phone flashlight for throat examinations, was entirely inadequate. Moving forward, I will exclusively book appointments with doctors to prevent such misdiagnoses from recurring. Always opt for doctor consultations.
