Worst medical centre in derbyshire disappoints patients

The way this medical practice operates is disgraceful, booking an appointment is virtually impossible and they consistently fail to return phone calls, claiming they're at full capacity and redirecting patients to call 111, effectively passing the buck. Curiously, whenever I visit the pharmacy to collect my prescription, the waiting room appears completely empty! What exactly are these doctors doing - perhaps focusing on private work? This approach is completely unlike other local surgeries, where my acquaintances receive excellent service. Indeed, this likely explains why Arthur Medical Centre ranks among the worst practices in Derbyshire for appointment availability. They desperately need new management who will take genuine responsibility for serving the public properly, instead of continually making excuses about staff shortages and COVID-related issues, years after the pandemic's peak. My heart goes out to elderly and vulnerable patients who struggle to navigate this system that seems to treat everyone with equal disregard.

The recent scheduling system is a complete disaster! Given my anxiety, being unable to secure medical care is deeply distressing. My brief consultation with the male physician was utterly pointless, as he simply instructed me to book with a female doctor! There are no available slots until May, and the same-day appointment model doesn't suit everyone's needs. I must acknowledge that the reception staff remain excellent, and I've been loyal to this practice for half a century.

Inaccessible Healthcare: Discrimination Against Disabled Patients

If I had the option to rate this facility with no stars, I would certainly choose that. Ever since they overhauled their appointment system on December 5, 2022, accessing medical care has become increasingly difficult for me. As someone who struggles with chronic pain and sleep disorders, I find it nearly impossible to secure an appointment unless I'm ready to make a call precisely at 8:00 am. Unfortunately, due to my ongoing health challenges and disabilities, I'm not always awake or able to make calls at that hour. Recently, when I attempted to discuss my situation with a rather rude receptionist, she dismissed my concerns and suggested that I contact 111 for triage assistance. Given that anxiety is another issue I face daily, the idea of calling 111 fills me with dread; past experiences have shown me that unnecessary ambulances were dispatched on two separate occasions when all I required was advice. Because of these incidents, reaching out for help through this service now feels daunting. I know other individuals who are unable to call exactly at 8:00 am due either to their own health issues or shift work commitments. This change in the surgery's protocol seems unfairly exclusionary towards those living with disabilities or managing unconventional work hours. It's disheartening because I'd gladly switch practices if there were alternatives available in my vicinity; unfortunately, this is the sole surgery catering to residents in my area.
