On holiday in Ashbourne. Husband has all signs of cellulitis. As internet says we could pop into any gp whilst on holiday we went in here. Grumpy older receptionist wouldn’t entertain him coming in. It would’ve taken a gp two mins to look and check to see if we need to go to Derby to get it checked thoroughly. Instead we have a thirty minute trip just on the offchance. Thanks but no thanks! She wasn’t interested, unsympathetic was rude and extremely unhelpful

Terrible gp practice with awful service and attitude
I've rarely encountered the same general practitioner twice. Perhaps it happened once, but it's certainly not standard. My "designated GP" remains a mystery. They seem to cycle through numerous locum doctors, suggesting they likely irritate staff as well as patients. Their telephone holding message claims "You can book, cancel or view appointments online" - a complete falsehood. Only blood tests and physiotherapy can be scheduled digitally, not actual GP consultations. They appear to make a concerted effort with newly registered patients, possibly to secure positive feedback, but quickly descend to typical NHS standards. Securing even the most basic medical arrangement requires extraordinary effort. The reception and administrative staff are combative and inefficient, to put it charitably. As a UK national, you're legally compelled to fund this subpar service. It would never survive in a commercial environment. Absolutely dreadful. Neighboring practices are equally problematic; through poor health, I've been forced to explore multiple options. One was marginally worse, but this is far from acceptable. The fundamental issue is a terrible attitude. Patients are viewed as mere inconveniences to be reluctantly tolerated, and quickly criticized if they dare challenge procedural shortcomings. When administrative staff feel comfortable inserting personal commentary into medical records, it signals a deeply dysfunctional system.

I've wasted several hours attempting to reach someone by phone, and no matter which menu option I choose (Appointments or Other), the line simply continues to ring with no answer. Dr Curry is truly one of the most compassionate general practitioners I've encountered. Two of the front desk staff are exceptional. I recently went through an incredibly nerve-wracking situation, and their empathy was deeply meaningful. The administrative team are absolutely wonderful. Although Ashbourne has significantly expanded its population over time, with only two medical facilities available, this practice consistently demonstrates extraordinary dedication and personalized attention to every single patient. The bespectacled female employee at the pharmacy displays an incredibly discourteous and unhelpful demeanor, showing a complete lack of respect for customers. As a result, my spouse and I have terminated all our prescription services with this establishment due to this particularly unpleasant staff member. The male employee was equally unprofessional. He complained about being understaffed and rudely suggested that if we were dissatisfied, we should take our business elsewhere - which we promptly did.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!! The nurse is solely fixated on your Covid vaccination status, completely disregarding the actual purpose of your medical visit. It's unacceptable to impose personal views on patients. As a result, I'm terminating my relationship with this practice. The receptionist, however, was pleasant.
