Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals significant challenges with appointment access and phone communication, which dominate concerns across the file. Callers report persistent difficulty reaching the practice by telephone, with many describing repeatedly dialed calls, prolonged hold times, and disconnections. Once contact is made, appointment availability is frequently cited as fully booked, sometimes within minutes of opening. Reception experience presents a mixed picture: whilst some patients describe supportive and welcoming staff, others report discourtesy, dismissiveness, and unprofessional conduct during booking attempts.

In contrast, clinical care receives consistent positive recognition. Patients frequently commend the medical professionals, nursing staff, and physiotherapists for their professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness. Several reviewers specifically note that despite frustrations with access, the quality of care once received is exceptional and responsive. A few patients acknowledge the demanding nature of reception work and express understanding of the pressures staff face.

The practice appears to operate as a high-demand service with capacity constraints that create bottlenecks in the booking system. Whilst the clinical team earns genuine appreciation, the gap between difficulty accessing appointments and the quality of care delivered once secured remains a central tension in patient experience. Some reviewers suggest the booking system requires fundamental redesign to better manage patient flow and communication.

Poor!

Frustrating wait times ruin potential good service

The service is decent if you manage to get an appointment, but the phone lines are constantly busy. After attempting over 200 calls, you might eventually get through. They desperately need to implement a proper queuing system instead of forcing customers to repeatedly press redial.

Terrible service and hidden fees for simple letter

Can't ever get an appointment whenever I call; the schedule is always completely full. When I requested a letter for my daughter's school, they demanded £20 just to confirm she has allergies and eczema.

Terrible service and impossible to reach anyone

Absolutely appalling medical service, I've been attempting to contact them throughout the week only to encounter a perpetually busy signal. Each morning, I'm informed that all available slots are fully booked! Despite dialing precisely at their opening time of 8am, I'm currently experiencing an unbelievable situation where I've been holding for over three-quarters of an hour with nothing but continuous ringing. Not a single staff member has picked up the phone!! What has happened to their personnel?!

Worst customer service ever rude receptionist nightmare

The blonde receptionist displayed an appalling level of discourtesy. Her unprofessional demeanor was shocking, and I'm astounded that such disrespectful treatment of customers is permitted. Her attitude was completely unacceptable!

Poor!

Terrible first impression at this unprofessional medical practice

The front desk staff displayed an appalling lack of professionalism, loudly berating me upon entry and continuing to be hostile to subsequent patients. At one point, they even had the audacity to speak with a mouthful of food while addressing a patient - utterly inappropriate. Despite the receptionist's abysmal behavior, the actual physiotherapy appointment was quite positive. The physiotherapist herself was exceptional - thoroughly attentive, genuinely kind, and completely professional. She was a truly delightful practitioner. I'm immensely relieved that I'm registered with a different medical practice altogether.

Poor!

Frustrating healthcare experience during pandemic struggles

Apologies, but the medical practice has changed since pre-surgery times. I've experienced three falls and struggled with COVID-related communication barriers, making it difficult to consult a physician. Fortunately, I'm recovering now, but had to resort to a private prescription for antibiotics due to a knee infection. I recognize this isn't unique to their practice, and I'm hopeful that healthcare services will eventually return to their previous, more accessible state.

Compassionate care behind the busy phone lines

Each time I contact the medical office, the wait to connect can be lengthy, but I'm not criticizing at all, as the receptionists are genuinely swamped with work that extends far beyond telephone duties. When they inquire about the nature of your issue, it's not out of curiosity, but because the physician has instructed them to gather comprehensive details to help efficiently manage and prioritize incoming calls. I'd encourage everyone to exercise understanding and empathy, recognizing that the prolonged wait you're experiencing today could easily be your own situation tomorrow.

Bad!

Terrible service and unhelpful medical staff

I've been desperately attempting to schedule a consultation for my young son, but every time I ring, the staff pick up and immediately disconnect the call. They consistently lack emergency slots and refuse to allow advance bookings. This medical practice is completely unacceptable. Additionally, the nurse named Hero was incompetent in identifying my son's oral thrush - I strongly advise against entrusting your children to her care. Edit: In response to your reply Ashfield. This critique was posted over twelve months ago, and you're only now providing a response. My family has definitively relocated to a superior healthcare provider. Do not attempt to manipulate my perspective, as I can categorically confirm such efforts will be ineffective.

This experience was absolutely appalling. The receptionist was completely unprofessional, cutting me off and shouting aggressively during our phone conversation. I am utterly shocked and deeply offended by their behavior. Being verbally attacked while seeking medical assistance is completely unacceptable and not what I expected when I became a patient here!!!!

Terrible medical care that fails every patient standard

Ashfield Medical Centre completely fails at every fundamental aspect of medical practice - duty of care, patient privacy, professional standards, confidentiality, disability-appropriate treatment, and medical expertise are ALL ABSENT!! Furthermore, regarding your response - WHY WOULD I CONTINUE RECEIVING CARE FROM THIS PRACTICE?!? How exactly were you intending to contact me? Through my online nickname? Are you essentially admitting you'd willingly violate GDPR and expose sensitive patient information just to challenge this review? You should consider yourself fortunate that I haven't already initiated legal proceedings for negligence. I possess comprehensive documentation to support professional misconduct complaints that could potentially remove at least two of your GPs from their professional registrations.

Bad!

Terrible service for vulnerable autistic child

Ashfield Medical Center repeatedly denied a referral for my nonverbal, autistic child, even while we were still registered patients. I exhausted every possible avenue to secure a doctor's appointment for this referral. Although the doctor supported the referral, the medical secretary adamantly refused to process it, insisting I must register with a new practice due to an impending house move. She persistently harassed me through multiple phone calls, even threatening to remove us from their patient list if I didn't register with a new surgery within 28 days. If they could grant me 28 days to register with a new surgery, what possible obstacle could prevent them from processing the referral during that same timeframe? I felt specifically targeted and discriminated against. The very professionals meant to support vulnerable children are instead systematically failing them. The referral was critically urgent. In a life-or-death scenario, my child would have perished before I could complete the registration process. It ultimately consumed approximately three weeks to successfully register with the new surgery, followed by additional days needed to secure an appointment with a new doctor.

Bad!

Worst medical centre in milton keynes ever

Firstly, this is undoubtedly the most subpar medical practice in Milton Keynes, with phone lines that are nearly impossible to penetrate - requiring over 100 attempts just to reach someone. When contact is finally made, staff demonstrate extreme rudeness and woefully inadequate communication skills, showing zero respect for patients. Even urgent medical needs are scheduled days in advance during doctor consultations. I absolutely cannot recommend this medical centre to anyone. Steer clear 100%, as even their own general practitioners demonstrate complete indifference towards patient welfare. Received a text about collecting a letter they charged £20 for, visited on Monday and endured over 20 minutes waiting for a staff member who emerged with a confrontational attitude, engaging in an argumentative exchange. I intend to escalate her unprofessional behavior to the administrative secretary. During a previous visit, I witnessed a young boy in considerable pain with his mother repeatedly approaching the reception desk inquiring about wait times, only to be systematically ignored and treated dismissively. If possible, I strongly advocate for intervention from higher municipal authorities to conduct unexpected evaluations of this local medical facility, potentially revealing the extent of their systemic issues. I wholeheartedly commend one exceptional nurse - Adeline - who represents extraordinary professionalism and genuine patient care. She genuinely deserves a 5-star rating, which makes the overall poor experience even more disappointing. This particular receptionist requires immediate termination without question, as her conduct is unacceptable. I am certainly not the first to document this staff member's deplorable attitude. I sincerely hope significant improvements will be implemented at this surgery.

Frustrating medical facility with impossible communication

I've been struggling for days to make any contact with this facility. The quality of medical care remains a complete mystery to me because reaching anyone has been impossible. My recommendation is to steer clear if you can. The medical staff and administrative team appear to operate on remarkably abbreviated schedules... And I feel compelled to clarify that I'm not a patient myself - I was desperately attempting to communicate regarding my terminally ill father who was currently receiving treatment here.
