Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reflects a mixed experience across the practice. Clinical care receives consistent praise, with patients describing courteous and attentive clinicians who demonstrate genuine concern for patient wellbeing and follow-up. Reception staff are frequently noted as welcoming and supportive, creating a positive first impression. Appointment booking has been straightforward for some patients, and the team is described as accommodating and helpful.

However, significant access challenges emerge as a recurring concern. Appointment scheduling experiences substantial delays, with availability consistently limited. Extended waiting times for appointments are attributed to resource constraints within the practice. Registration processes have proven problematic for some patients, involving contradictory information, delays extending beyond stated timescales, and inconsistencies between initial guidance and subsequent communication. One patient experienced particular difficulty with the registration and appointment process, encountering conflicting information about service area coverage and repeated requests for personal details already submitted.

Reception experience concerns are noted in isolated cases, with at least one patient reporting a negative interaction that prompted a formal complaint. Communication inconsistencies appear to affect patient confidence in the service, particularly around registration procedures and service area boundaries. While clinical quality is valued, the combination of access constraints and administrative difficulties presents challenges for patients attempting to engage with the practice.

I had a very negative experience with a member of the reception team. I subsequently made a formal complaint through the appropriate channels.

Registration process left me frustrated and confused

I attended the practice to register and submitted my completed forms at reception. The receptionist confirmed that my area was covered and indicated the registration process would take between five to ten days. After three weeks had passed, I contacted the practice to arrange an appointment as I had been experiencing health issues for an extended period. I was informed that my registration had not yet been completed due to the practice being busy. Later that day, the receptionist called back to advise that I would need to register elsewhere as my postcode fell outside their coverage area. This contradicted what I had been told initially and what the practice website states regarding their service area. When I pointed out that my registration had already been accepted, I was asked to provide my personal details multiple times by the same member of staff who had processed my forms weeks earlier. The only response I received was that my details were not showing in their system, despite having submitted the paperwork. I find it concerning that in the current healthcare environment, patients face such difficulties when attempting to register with a practice. When I rarely require medical attention, typically once every few years, the registration and appointment process proves extremely challenging. I was disappointed with how this situation was managed and would hope that other patients do not encounter similar experiences.

Great!

Long waits due to limited doctor availability

The clinical team members are excellent and provide wonderful care. However, the practice operates with limited medical staffing, comprising only one full-time practitioner and one who is available on a part-time basis. This staffing level appears insufficient for the patient population served. Additionally, the practice no longer has female practitioners available. The limited medical resources have resulted in extended waiting times for appointments, which represents the main area of concern regarding the service provided.

Practice handled my expectations well

I'm uncertain why some people leave one-star reviews simply because they didn't receive the exact outcome they were hoping for from their visit. This is a really good practice.

Practice won't listen to patient concerns

Won't prescribe the medications requested. Won't offer talking therapies. The available support options seem ineffective. Doesn't appear concerned about mental health concerns. Unhelpful like many healthcare providers. Keeps referring to specialist services who redirect back. Not practical when managing work commitments. Have attended multiple appointments without seeing progress.

Reception staff were genuinely helpful and friendly

The reception team at this practice are excellent. They are welcoming and supportive, providing exactly the kind of positive first impression you would hope for. My appointment with one of the clinicians was somewhat less enjoyable, though still beneficial overall.

Friendly staff made booking appointments easy

During my time as a student at a university a few years ago, I was registered at this practice. I had a wonderful experience when I was unwell on one occasion. The clinician I saw was exceptionally kind and attentive, ensuring I could get home safely and following up with a call the next day to check on my recovery and wellbeing. I found it straightforward to book appointments at this surgery, and all the staff members I interacted with were genuinely welcoming and helpful.
