Reception discouraged in-person appointment requests
My recent visit left me feeling disappointed, as it seemed the practice was reluctant to arrange a doctor's appointment for me. I attended in person because the online system didn't adequately address my health concerns. The receptionist insisted I complete the process through the app despite my presence at the desk, and expressed concern about discussing personal information in front of other patients. I proceeded as instructed. Once submitted, I was informed that a healthcare professional could handle the procedure and that a doctor's consultation wasn't necessary. However, I felt it was important to discuss my symptoms with a doctor beforehand to ensure the procedure was the right decision for me. After considerable effort, I eventually secured appointments for both consultations on the same day, though this was scheduled two weeks ahead and conducted over the telephone. The entire process felt unnecessarily difficult and frustrating.

Online requests often go unread or ignored
This surgery has significant issues. Obtaining an appointment is extremely difficult. You are repeatedly directed to submit requests through their online system and while responses come quickly, it often appears the requests have not been properly reviewed. The practice seems reluctant to offer face-to-face consultations, readily issuing antibiotic prescriptions based on brief record checks without investigations, and telephone interactions with staff tend to be dismissive, leaving you feeling like a burden. I recently submitted an online request regarding medications that specialists at a private hospital had recommended for me. I felt compelled to seek private care as this practice did not appear to take my concerns seriously or arrange necessary investigations. I was offered only a brief appointment with a nurse practitioner rather than a doctor, with a waiting period of over a month, despite the fact that a consultant had already requested these medications. Additionally, I was informed the prescription would take two weeks to process. Unwilling to wait such a lengthy period for a straightforward discussion, I telephoned the practice to explain my circumstances. I was told a response would be provided online. When it arrived, the tone was perceived as curt and unhelpful, suggesting I simply book an appointment through their system and mentioning that a letter regarding blood tests had been left at reception. This practice ranks among the most unwelcoming and insensitive I have experienced, consistently making patients feel like they are an inconvenience. I am actively considering registering with an alternative practice that may provide more considerate and responsive care.

We operate a triage‑first model for all acute medical issues, which means that most patients speak with a clinician by phone first so we can make sure they’re seen in the right way, by the right person, as quickly as possible. We also have additional waiting areas further inside the building, and our GPs often have a mixture of telephone appointments and clinical administration time during the day. This can sometimes make the waiting room look quieter than the practice actually is. The online booking system, integrated with the NHS App, is particularly impressive, offering numerous appointment slots at various times throughout the day. This accessibility alone is invaluable. The team members I engaged with were approachable and patiently addressed my concerns with professionalism. The practice itself is well-maintained, with ample parking facilities and clean, orderly surroundings. While I hope to have minimal need for frequent visits, I found this experience to be a welcome change from what I previously encountered.
