This review concerns a particular clinician whom I have consulted on a couple of occasions and found to be excellent. My husband attended an appointment recently regarding a skin condition he had experienced previously. The clinician took an image of the affected area and referred it to a specialist for further assessment, while also prescribing topical treatment and recommending a follow-up appointment once the medication had been used. My husband subsequently received a message from the clinician with feedback from the specialist, which confirmed the initial assessment. I am very grateful for the thorough and prompt approach taken, which has been notably more comprehensive and efficient than experiences with other practitioners.

New patient impressed by attentive listening and efficient reception

As a brand new patient I was so impressed by the surgery. The clinician had taken time to read my notes in preparation for the appointment and was patient and had time to listen to all my concerns. The receptionist is an absolute star - kind and friendly to everyone whilst very capably, quickly and efficiently handling every issue that came up. These things make a huge difference to patients who may attend feeling vulnerable and unwell, and are very much appreciated.

Online diagnosis without face-to-face appointment was inadequate

I found this practice to be disappointing and fell short of what I would expect from a healthcare provider. Rather than offering telephone appointments, they require patients to complete an online form for consideration, with the option of online diagnosis based on described symptoms alone. My husband needed to see someone regarding significant digestive problems. Following the practice's guidance, he submitted an online form. A clinician provided a diagnosis within minutes based on his symptom description and offered online advice. However, it later became clear that the initial assessment was incorrect, and he was subsequently found to have a more serious bowel condition that requires proper medical attention. He required hospital admission for over 24 hours. I believe this situation could have been avoided had he been given an in-person appointment for a proper examination from the outset. I question how any medical professional can confidently diagnose a patient based solely on a written description of symptoms without conducting a face-to-face consultation, proper assessment, or direct conversation. In my view, the appointment system this practice operates is ineffective and does not serve patients well. It appears to prioritise efficiency over genuine care provision. In-person consultations are essential when someone requires medical attention, yet obtaining an appointment here is difficult. Even when one is eventually arranged, patients are still directed back to the online form process. I feel this practice does not meet the standards I would expect from a competent medical service.

The administrative team handling correspondence are particularly efficient, consistently acknowledging requests and resolving matters promptly. Appointments have been readily available, typically within a week, and I have often been able to secure same-day slots through the online booking system. I was recently assessed by a clinician during an out-of-hours appointment for some symptoms I was experiencing, and I appreciated being given reassurance and having my concerns properly evaluated outside standard surgery hours. There appear to be some internal coordination challenges between different departments, though the individual practitioners I have encountered have demonstrated thoroughness and competence in their assessments.

Reception dismissed concerns without proper support

I attended an appointment at this surgery today and was deeply disappointed by the lack of compassion, understanding, and awareness of mental health considerations demonstrated throughout my visit. As a new mother with a six-day-old infant requiring feeding, I arrived approximately seven minutes late to my appointment. The self check-in system rejected my entry due to lateness, and after waiting in a queue for about five minutes to check in with reception staff, I received a message indicating I had not attended. The clinician declined to see me and rescheduled for an hour later. The same situation repeated at the second appointment slot. I called ahead to explain I would be slightly delayed due to feeding my newborn, and at six days postpartum, I uncomfortably positioned myself in the back of my car between car seats to complete feeding while distressed. Despite arriving only five minutes late and in an emotionally fragile state, I attempted to discuss how the surgery's initial refusal to see me had caused significant distress to myself, my newborn, and my family. The clinician interrupted, stating the responsibility was his alone rather than the surgery's, then proceeded to focus on how my lateness had inconvenienced him. He mentioned calling multiple times at both appointments and repeatedly emphasized that I was late, showing little interest when I explained I had been feeding my infant or when I described the check-in system failure and queue time. I became increasingly distressed throughout the appointment, which appeared to concern him little. When I asked if he would apologize for his approach, he declined, reiterating that my lateness was the issue. He then stated I had five minutes remaining and needed to proceed if I wished to be seen that day. Although he clinically addressed my needs with an examination, sample collection, and prescription, his care lacked any holistic understanding or empathy for someone in a vulnerable postpartum state. The reception team response was equally unhelpful. When I attempted to lodge a complaint, I was directed to complete a feedback form despite explaining I lacked the mental and physical capacity as a new mother. After agreeing to have it logged, a staff member approached without introduction and directed me to another window. She then accused me of shouting, which I disputed, as I naturally speak with a louder voice. She appeared uncomfortable with my assertive advocacy for my own health and wellbeing. When I questioned whether the care I received was acceptable, she refused to comment and insisted any apology request required a formal feedback form submission, despite my repeated explanation of my current limitations.

Quick appointment for all three children

I was seen by an advanced care practitioner who assessed all three of my children who were experiencing throat inflammation. The clinician was excellent with them and I was very appreciative of being able to get appointments for all three on the same occasion. The prescribed medications were dispensed within a few hours of my initial contact with the practice, which demonstrated a prompt and attentive response to our situation. The receptionist who assisted me was also pleasant and supportive throughout the process. Although this isn't my usual GP practice, I was genuinely impressed by the level of care and service provided.

Appointment interrupted by delivery, GP ended call rudely

I would give a lower rating if possible. I had requested a telephone consultation, but shortly after the call began, someone arrived at my door to deliver a new washing machine, which happened to coincide with my appointment time. I allowed them inside and moved to another room to maintain my conversation with the healthcare provider who had called me. A few minutes later, the delivery personnel needed me to sign documentation and discuss a plumbing matter, at which point the clinician stated they could not continue with these interruptions and ended the call immediately. This was by far the most disappointing and discourteous interaction I have experienced with a GP practice.

Online booking tool made appointments straightforward

This is an excellent GP practice, and I'm really pleased with how straightforward and efficient their online appointment system is to use. I've needed to access the practice several times over the past year for both myself and my family members, and whenever I've used the online tool, I've consistently received a response within a few hours. Each time, I've been offered either an in-person appointment, a phone consultation, or guidance to collect medication from the pharmacy. I have no complaints about this service whatsoever.
