Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a deeply divided experience at this practice, with significant challenges in appointment access and reception experience contrasting sharply with positive feedback about clinical care. The most consistent concern across reviews is the difficulty securing appointments, with patients reporting waits of several weeks to months, compounded by phone line accessibility issues and reception staff who are frequently described as unhelpful, dismissive, or discourteous. Many patients report that receptionists attempt to gatekeep access to clinicians or redirect concerns without proper assessment. Communication barriers extend beyond appointment booking, with slow response times to queries and limited follow-up on test results creating frustration.

Where clinical care is accessed, feedback is notably more positive, with doctors and nursing staff frequently praised for professionalism, competence, and compassion. Several patients specifically commended individual practitioners and the quality of surgical and nursing procedures. The practice environment is generally described as clean and well-maintained. However, this positive clinical experience is substantially undermined by the access and reception difficulties that prevent many patients from reaching care in the first place.

The inconsistency between clinical quality and service accessibility represents the core issue. Patients express frustration that excellent doctors are difficult to reach, and reception processes appear to create unnecessary barriers rather than facilitate patient access. Some newer patients report smoother experiences, while long-term patients describe a decline in service quality over recent years. This pattern suggests systemic challenges in appointment scheduling, reception training, and communication protocols that require attention to align the practice's clinical strengths with its service delivery.

Professional Care and Prompt Service at Medical Centre

I have only been to this healthcare facility a single time, yet I must express my admiration for the high standard of professionalism displayed by the nursing staff. They were exceptionally polite and took ample time to address my concerns before moving forward with the required treatment. The waiting area was well-maintained and organized, and my appointment began on schedule. While I cannot comment on the overall service quality, from what I've experienced, I would certainly suggest this medical centre to anyone in need of healthcare services. The personnel here appear knowledgeable and effective, which is precisely what one hopes for in a medical environment. In summary, I departed feeling pleased with the level of care provided and would not hesitate to return if necessary in the future.

Inconsistent care at this medical practice

I've only been a patient here for a short time, and my experience has been quite inconsistent. While some of the medical staff are compassionate and helpful both in-person and over the phone, there are frustrating moments. The receptionist occasionally dismisses my concerns, suggesting I simply go to the pharmacy instead of consulting a healthcare professional. Additionally, the wait times to see a nurse or doctor can stretch out to several weeks, which can be quite challenging.

Frustrating healthcare experience with dismissive medical staff

Extended waiting periods to consult the physician. The nurse practitioner comes across as patronizing and dismissive, and one of the female doctors exhibits a similarly demeaning attitude, consistently causing me distress during phone interactions. She consistently interrupts me and makes me feel small and worthless.

Compassionate care at its finest in halifax

Since relocating to Halifax from an area with subpar healthcare where medical professionals frequently overlooked patient concerns, I've discovered this medical practice to be exceptional. I've encountered zero issues with either the physicians or administrative staff, and in particular, the receptionists are remarkably courteous and efficient in providing assistance. I wholeheartedly endorse this surgery for anyone seeking reliable medical care in the region.

Frustrating healthcare that fails patient's basic needs

I've encountered numerous problems with this medical practice. They refuse to prescribe my medication and insist I contact a clinician for every pain medication request. I've been left without my necessary medication for entire weekends. It's absolutely unacceptable. I'm switching healthcare providers. This situation is exacerbating my existing anxiety issues.

Positive Experience with Dr. Mayland at Beechwood

Today, I had a mole removed from my back. Dr. Mayland was fantastic, and the two wonderful nurses accompanying me were equally impressive. It puzzles me why Beechwood receives only 1 or 2 stars; it seems that many overlook the exceptional quality of care provided by the doctors and nurses when evaluating this GP surgery as a whole. Sending love to all those who work here!

Rude Receptionists Rule This Dysfunctional Surgery

The experience I've had at this particular medical practice has been extremely disappointing, and I plan to make a change soon. The receptionists exhibit a notable lack of courtesy, with one named Angela frequently interrupting conversations. They seem to believe they possess medical expertise and often attempt to offer advice or diagnoses. For instance, when I sought help for my persistent abdominal discomfort, they dismissed my concerns by suggesting it was likely just a muscle strain and recommended over-the-counter pain relief instead! As someone who works in nursing, I wouldn’t request an appointment unless it was truly warranted! It requires two weeks merely to secure an appointment for a blood test, followed by another 2-3 weeks before you can meet with someone regarding the results. If you're fortunate enough, there’s even a slim chance you might receive the expected callback for that phone consultation after waiting two weeks! The reception team seems to dominate this clinic; it's best to steer clear of them altogether.

Friendly staff but frustrating communication delays

The front desk staff and the phlebotomist who drew my blood were both incredibly pleasant and helpful during my visit last week. However, I'm thoroughly frustrated that despite multiple attempts to contact the office around 8:02 AM, I still haven't managed to schedule a telephone consultation to review my test results. While I understand that operations may not be fully normalized and I'm reasonably confident my vital organs aren't in immediate crisis, a quick confirmation would provide significant peace of mind.

Frustrating healthcare experience with poor patient care

Listen, here's the deal: getting an appointment with a doctor is nearly impossible, and if you're fortunate, you might encounter a nurse. The reception staff acts like border control, yelling about masks while their own is hanging uselessly under their chin. The young staff member claims she's safe behind her screen, but that's nonsense - there shouldn't be different standards for staff and patients. The nursing staff is hit-or-miss; some are decent, while others seem more like programmed machines lacking human empathy. I recognize they might be under pressure, but for patients feeling anxious, a little kindness and understanding can make all the difference!!!

Receptionist angela ruins an otherwise great medical practice

I've been a patient at this medical practice since childhood, and the doctors are excellent, but there's this one receptionist named Angela who is absolutely terrible! She's the most unpleasant person to interact with! I dread calling and having her answer because she is incredibly mean and the rudest individual I've ever encountered. She never allows you to complete a sentence and constantly talks over you. I can't comprehend how she manages to work as a receptionist! She's a truly awful woman!!

Frustrated Pain Patient Seeks Hemp Oil Relief

I recently dedicated around 45 minutes crafting a message to them, all while enduring significant discomfort. However, when I hit the send button, an error notification appeared stating that the email address was invalid. I wanted to inquire about Hemp Oil Capsules but have decided to simply try them and disregard any potential side effects. It appears they are not particularly concerned with providing pain relief; my medication dosage was lowered during my review earlier this year, leaving me struggling with persistent chronic pain.

"Terrible Wait Times Despite Few Good Doctors"

The medical treatment I have experienced here is the most disappointing I've encountered. If you somehow succeed in booking an appointment with a nurse or doctor, especially after receiving a diagnosis from the receptionist, be prepared for an extensive wait of six to eight weeks. Nurse practitioner Watson displays a poor attitude and seems indifferent toward patients' needs. On a positive note, both Dr. King and Dr. Don are excellent practitioners; it’s unfortunate that obtaining an appointment with them is such a challenge. I am now in search of another medical facility where I can register as a patient without these issues.
