Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals significant challenges with appointment access and phone system responsiveness, which dominate concerns across the file. Patients consistently report difficulties booking appointments, with many unable to reach the practice by phone or facing long waiting times when calls do connect. Reception experience emerges as a key issue, with multiple accounts of discourteous or dismissive staff interactions, though some patients praise individual reception staff members for their helpfulness. Communication gaps are evident, including delayed callbacks, unclear information about procedures, and insufficient notice of appointment cancellations.

In contrast, feedback about clinical care is notably positive, with patients frequently commending doctors and nurses for their professionalism, compassion, and thorough consultations. Several patients specifically highlight individual practitioners as exceptional and caring. The practice environment itself receives praise for being well-maintained and modern.

The overall pattern suggests a practice struggling with operational capacity and phone system infrastructure, creating barriers to access that frustrate patients despite appreciating the quality of medical care once they secure appointments. Some patients acknowledge systemic pressures on NHS services, while others express concern about whether the practice can adequately serve its patient population given current constraints.

Terrible Care for My 9-Year-Old's Health

The surgical practice is an absolute disaster. The reception staff are incredibly discourteous and completely unresponsive to complaint emails, showing zero concern for patient welfare. They consistently display an unnecessarily hostile attitude and come across as judgmental without any empathy. These staff members refuse to listen to patients and seem more focused on maintaining their funding than providing proper medical referrals. They stubbornly resist any patient suggestions and would likely provide better care if consulting a witch doctor. The practice is essentially a complete mockery of healthcare. The receptionists are antagonistic and nasty, with female doctors appearing equally spiteful and seemingly enjoying making patients uncomfortable rather than offering support. When attempting to secure an appointment for a child's mental health and ear infection, I was callously informed it wasn't the doctors' concern - an absolutely unacceptable response. The entire surgery is a toxic environment that gaslights patients, provokes confrontations, and then plays the victim when challenged. The reception staff exhibit clear bullying behaviors and systematically undermine patient experiences. Anyone seeking medical care should absolutely avoid this place at all costs.

Stoke Mandeville Clinic: Impossible to Get an Appointment

What an absolute farce!! They might as well demolish this massive facility and return to a compact building where patients could actually receive services. Despite being open for ages, I'm still unable to secure an appointment. I've been forced to rely on 111, Wycombe hospital, and Slough hospital (since Stoke Mandeville isn't even an option!!!) and with no means of transportation to High Wycombe, I'm left struggling to breathe, desperately hoping some random doctor from across the country might call. I'd ask everyone to be compassionate towards the staff, as they're not personally responsible for this systemic brush-off. If you're employed and working, you can forget about getting help. You'd need to be unemployed and capable of spending entire days on the phone, only to be ultimately dismissed.

Frustrating wait and zero help for disabled patient

10 minutes enduring that grating noise and melody. After struggling to reach a front desk employee, they vanish twice and remain unable to schedule a nurse visit. As someone with a disability and no transportation assistance, I'm told a physician will contact me for a phone consultation. I've experienced this approach previously, and it's far from satisfactory.

Caring Staff Help During Tough Times

A touch of appreciation can make a significant difference, and I'm truly thankful to this medical practice for the compassionate assistance I've received while caring for my late husband, late aunt, and myself. The front desk staff can't magically conjure immediate appointments out of thin air, and (with one minor exception) they've consistently been incredibly supportive despite the scarcity of same-day slots. Maybe the property developers who are so eager to construct endless housing developments could also establish new medical facilities to accommodate the growing population they're so enthusiastic about accommodating. Oh, but wait, where would the financial incentive be in that?

Berrycroft Medical Centre: 42 Years of Solid Care

When discussing the medical centre, people need to understand one crucial point: it is nearly exceptional in all aspects. Friends residing in Aylesbury and surrounding areas often express their envy regarding the service provided at Berrycroft, and their stories make this admiration clear. Far from being a financial drain, Berrycroft is a valuable resource supporting a quickly growing community. Most criticisms seem to originate from individuals who would benefit from more self-reflection before voicing their opinions. The local area would undoubtedly suffer without this facility. Having been a patient at Berrycroft through its various transformations for 42 years, I have never once felt compelled to lodge a complaint - in fact, my experience has been entirely positive. I extend my sincere gratitude to all staff and practitioners for the consistent, compassionate support you have provided throughout the years.

Desperate for Pediatric Appointment at 8am

This is completely unacceptable. I phoned at 8am and was told I'm over 30th in the queue by 8:45am. They have zero availability for appointments, and this isn't even for me - it's for my sick 2-year-old daughter who has been unwell since January 10th. After three days, I still can't secure a consultation. Every single day I'm given the same response that they're fully booked. The whole situation is absolutely absurd - we're talking about a vulnerable young child who needs medical attention.

Impossible to Get an Appointment at 8:30am

I'm utterly frustrated with this medical practice. For over a week, I've been calling precisely at 8:30am when they open, attempting to schedule an appointment. Each time, I'm left waiting on hold for an hour, only to be told as caller number 22 that all appointments are already booked. It's incomprehensible how other patients manage to secure appointments while I'm consistently unsuccessful, despite calling immediately at opening time every single day! Furthermore, the receptionist's attitude was appalling - instead of addressing my concerns, she simply hung up on me. This isn't a new issue; last year, their negligence resulted in my son being hospitalized with a severe blood infection after they refused to see him. Today, when I tried to get an appointment for my son experiencing tonsillitis symptoms, both the receptionist and manager dismissively told me to consult a pharmacist. What's the point of having a medical practice if their solution is always to redirect patients to a pharmacist? The entire system is completely dysfunctional and unacceptable.

Curly-Haired Receptionist Gave Me the Runaround

The hefty woman with short, tight curls and spectacles was utterly useless! I visited the clinic to discuss my son's medication requirements for his Autism, only to be informed I needed an appointment, with no available slots. When I returned this morning, I was told the issue was already in the system and could be processed immediately. What an absolute squandering of my time and the time of others who waited in line for appointments yesterday and today. It's obvious she requires significant retraining and seems to take perverse pleasure in denying people's requests without even examining their needs or circumstances. You, madam, are a drain on people's time and desperately need to learn proper customer service and interpersonal communication. I'd argue a nightclub bouncer would be more compassionate and helpful than your current approach to assisting patients!

Impossible to Book an Appointment Anywhere

Completely ineffective medical practice, I've been attempting to schedule an appointment for days, and every time I nearly reach the front of the queue, I'm abruptly disconnected. When I try calling back, I'm suddenly pushed back to position 30 or told the call cannot be processed and cut off once more! I'm seriously contemplating switching healthcare providers. What's the point of establishing a large medical facility if they can't accommodate patient appointments or maintain a phone system capable of handling incoming calls (including the additional patients they've recently taken on)?

Friendly receptionist saves the day

There's a delightful young receptionist who is charming and courteous when I call, but on other occasions with the seasoned staff members who've been around for years, the interaction turns unpleasantly abrupt and dismissive. I've had to submit formal complaints multiple times. The sole reason I remain with this practice is Dr. Hoffman, who is absolutely wonderful - the most compassionate physician I've ever encountered. She genuinely cares and works tirelessly, and she herself was dismayed by how I was treated. That's why they barely scrape a two-star rating. I've experienced multiple instances where I'm initially second in the queue early in the morning, and suddenly I'm inexplicably bumped down to 29th position. On other occasions, after enduring a lengthy wait, I'm unceremoniously disconnected mid-call.

Caring Doctors and Helpful Staff at My Local Surgery

I've been thoroughly satisfied with the medical practice since becoming a patient last year. Whenever I've required guidance or a consultation for myself or my child, they've been incredibly responsive and supportive. The reception staff have been consistently warm and welcoming, and the physicians I've encountered have taken the time to genuinely listen, rather than hurrying me through appointments. I recognize that this might not be everyone's experience, as the high patient volume undoubtedly creates significant stress for the staff - a challenge that seems prevalent across healthcare settings. Despite these systemic pressures, I remain deeply appreciative of the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly at this practice.

Mixed feelings about Berrycroft surgery

Amending my review and changing to 3 stars. I was introduced to a health worker who proved incredibly supportive. He advocated for me with my doctor and provided valuable guidance, all while maintaining a warm and approachable demeanor. This week, my doctor contacted me about my medication and liver level management. She was attentive to my preferences and implemented my suggested approach. I received a call regarding my Google review. The appointment booking challenges stem from insufficient funding, and they are actively seeking additional financial support. Berrycroft operates with less resources compared to neighboring practices. They've committed to personally calling me about any negative medical results instead of sending texts or emails. When I explained my concerns, they listened without passing judgment. Additionally, they volunteered to investigate issues with my medical record, acknowledging this likely originated from my previous practice and NHS number transition. The receptionist's questioning was thoroughly explained to me - they were exploring alternative team members who might assist me beyond a doctor, potentially offering an alternative appointment route. It appears the surgery genuinely cares about patients, but funding constraints are creating significant operational challenges. —————— Appointment pre-booking is impossible. Patients must contact 111 and accept same-day appointments against their preference. A concerning lack of compassion was evident when an elevated blood test result was communicated via email. The doctor refused additional testing and ignored my request for further investigation, instead referring me to a general health advisor offering generic exercise and dietary advice. The receptionist's insistence on understanding my call's purpose seemed inappropriate, especially given their inability to schedule a future appointment. I wish more healthcare options existed. After a year with this practice, I consider them the most unsatisfactory medical service I've encountered. Fortunately, my private insurance allows me to seek specialist consultation regarding the elevated test result, to determine whether a serious chronic condition exists or this was an isolated incident. Moreover, considering my medical record's mental health annotations, their handling of my case has significantly exacerbated my psychological well-being.
