Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals significant challenges with appointment access and phone system responsiveness, which dominate concerns across the file. Patients consistently report difficulties booking appointments, with many unable to reach the practice by phone or facing long waiting times when calls do connect. Reception experience emerges as a key issue, with multiple accounts of discourteous or dismissive staff interactions, though some patients praise individual reception staff members for their helpfulness. Communication gaps are evident, including delayed callbacks, unclear information about procedures, and insufficient notice of appointment cancellations.

In contrast, feedback about clinical care is notably positive, with patients frequently commending doctors and nurses for their professionalism, compassion, and thorough consultations. Several patients specifically highlight individual practitioners as exceptional and caring. The practice environment itself receives praise for being well-maintained and modern.

The overall pattern suggests a practice struggling with operational capacity and phone system infrastructure, creating barriers to access that frustrate patients despite appreciating the quality of medical care once they secure appointments. Some patients acknowledge systemic pressures on NHS services, while others express concern about whether the practice can adequately serve its patient population given current constraints.

Waited 40 Minutes for a No-Show Doctor

I decided to take advantage of a health screening since I hadn't consulted a medical professional in over twelve months. I attended the appointment, which was my first venture outside my home in several months due to my health challenges, only to find myself waiting for 40 minutes, only to be informed by the receptionist that the healthcare professional I was scheduled to see had not arrived at work or even bothered to notify the clinic!! Absolutely unacceptable service!! Nevertheless, I must acknowledge that the receptionist and lead nurse were genuinely apologetic, offering to reschedule my appointment or arrange an alternative consultation with another doctor. At the time, I felt unable to proceed with either option, but I sincerely appreciate their kind words and genuine efforts to assist me.

Couldn't See a Doctor After Years of Waiting

1 Star is far too generous for this establishment. Complete chaos describes this medical practice, where I've been a supposed patient for multiple years yet have NEVER managed to actually consult a physician. They've moved into a fancy new facility with impressive infrastructure but consistently redirect patients to call 111 or visit a pharmacy instead. What's the purpose of a medical practice if seeing a doctor is impossible? Every inquiry is met with a dismissive response, and their only true expertise lies in making excuses. The so-called professionalism here extends only to their skill at brushing off patient concerns. My wife suffers from a chronic, debilitating condition, and her chances of seeing her doctor are slimmer than her prospects of lunar travel. An absolute mockery of healthcare, with zero consideration for patient needs!!

Endless Calls, No Help This Morning

Completely futile experience, spent more than 60 minutes this morning attempting to contact them. After navigating through their menu five separate times, I was repeatedly informed they couldn't handle my call and instructed to retry later, then abruptly disconnected. Persisted despite being in significant discomfort. Finally connected, only to be told "no appointments available". When I inquired about next steps, they simply directed me to call 111. This medical practice should be thoroughly embarrassed by their operational incompetence. Their online reviews are overwhelmingly negative, with just a handful of positive comments. Their standard response is always the same meaningless platitude: "we are continually reassessing our appointment system". Instead of endless assessment, they need to take concrete action. It's particularly frustrating because this surgery used to provide excellent service when located in their previous premises. Currently, they are completely unfit to provide medical care.

Broken Healthcare System Fails Local Families

I do not pen these words without careful consideration. The merger of two previously commendable medical practices has resulted in a service that, to be blunt, is failing the local population. They seem incapable of providing even basic support for pediatric patients. Securing an appointment is extremely challenging, and even when you manage to do so, there's a significant chance you'll receive inadequate or inappropriate care.

Rude Receptionist Blocked My Urgent Appointment

I attempted to schedule an appointment, but found myself 30th in line, necessitating a callback. Upon finally receiving a call, I requested a brief conversation with my GP to discuss my overdue appointment. The young receptionist was incredibly discourteous, uncooperative, and displayed a shockingly poor attitude. She flatly stated no appointments were available today and curtly suggested I contact 111. When I tried to explain my concern about the delayed appointment, she accusingly claimed I wasn't listening and insisted I speak to her supervisor. The staff at this reception desk are so unprofessional that they should be immediately terminated.

Frustrating Wait at New Medical Practice

Disappointing experience. I had hoped that new facilities and additional medical staff would improve their service quality. Unfortunately, that's not the case. I've been struggling to secure an appointment for two consecutive days. When I called, there were no available slots yesterday, and today I received no return call by 9:30 AM. After visiting in person, I discovered all appointments were fully booked. The earliest I can schedule is four weeks from now! If these difficulties continue, I'll be forced to contact the emergency medical helpline 111. The only bright spot was the pharmacist at the local chemist, who was genuinely helpful.

Impossible to Get a GP Appointment in February

I would rate this the absolute worst healthcare experience ever. We recently relocated from Harrow, where GP services were top-notch and appointments were easily accessible. Despite hearing numerous negative reviews about this community health center, I was reluctant to change our GP. My daughter and I remain registered at our previous practice, always returning there for treatment, especially since my husband has multiple health conditions. The NHS transferred him to this new location, forcing us to register here. I completed all necessary paperwork and submitted them to the receptionist. I received a message about downloading the Berryfields app for online appointments. When I attempted to secure an initial face-to-face consultation to discuss his health issues, the receptionist informed me no appointments were available until March 20th - this was on February 5th! The vague appointment time of "any time" was completely unhelpful. When I tried booking through their system, calling precisely at 8:00 am, I was placed on hold for 30 minutes. Upon finally being contacted, I was told no appointments remained. Apparently, pre-booked and same-day appointments consume all available slots, rendering the booking process essentially meaningless. My husband's condition deteriorated, developing a severe flu. I contacted 111, who were somewhat helpful, but when his symptoms worsened, I was caught in an impossible situation. With no GP response and being advised to visit A&E, the prospect of an 18-hour wait seemed ludicrous - leaving a 76-year-old man suffering in pain. Fortunately, my private medical insurance provided a video consultation. However, for an in-person GP visit, I would need to navigate 111's bureaucratic system. This experience is absolutely unacceptable - a scenario where a patient could potentially die while receiving no meaningful care. I have never encountered such abysmal healthcare service in my entire life and desperately seek an explanation.

Helpful Doctors, But Unexpected Address Change

I've always found scheduling appointments to be seamless, and the staff consistently goes above and beyond. Although I encountered difficulty booking via phone recently, I successfully used the NHS online guidance to secure a phone consultation and an in-person doctor's appointment the following day. After having my baby, I've been particularly impressed with midwife Amy, who is truly exceptional and supportive. My baby has been experiencing some reflux challenges, and Dr. Clayton has been incredibly attentive, regularly checking in and ensuring we come in to monitor the baby's condition. While you do need to be quick when calling in the morning, I've found all the doctors to be incredibly helpful and responsive! EDIT***** I'm absolutely furious! Despite explicitly requesting that the health visitor not update my address, as I was registered at my mother's location, I've now been instructed to re-register at a different surgery after being continuously registered at the same place for 29 years since birth. I'm devastated and feel completely betrayed. I've always spoken highly of this surgery, and now I feel entirely abandoned. I've clearly communicated my reservations about moving, yet no consideration has been given to allow me to remain. I recognize there's significant pressure on healthcare services, but the fact that I've been a lifelong patient apparently means nothing. I'm completely heartbroken.

Impossible to Get a Doctor Appointment

Can't secure any appointments. Phone callbacks take over an hour, with zero response!! Decided to stay on hold again, waiting another 30 minutes, only to be informed all slots are booked for the day and advised to try again tomorrow. I've been attempting this for four consecutive days. Consulted a pharmacist who stressed the urgent need to see a GP quickly, so I followed advice and rang 111. After completing triage, they recommended seeing a GP but directed me back to the Surgery. Once more, I encountered the same roadblock and couldn't schedule a doctor's consultation. I've been explicitly told I require antibiotics urgently. It's currently Friday. I cannot wait until Monday. It's no surprise A&E departments are overwhelmed. Berryfields, despite your impressive new facility, you're absolutely terrible at supporting patients in genuine need. I've been with this practice since 1963 when it was Meadowcroft, and this is undoubtedly the worst service I've ever experienced. I'm desperate to understand: what exactly must one do to secure a doctor's appointment????

Impossible to Book an Appointment at Meadowcroft Surgery

Since relocating from Meadowcroft, this medical practice has become completely useless. It's absolutely ridiculous how difficult it is to secure a simple appointment - what's even the purpose of a healthcare facility if patients can't access basic services? 😤😠

I've been attempting to contact the medical practice to schedule an appointment since 8am, navigating through numerous menu options. Confusing reception during rainy appointment day

The staff here lacks professionalism and competence. They misdirected me during a rainstorm and redirected me elsewhere. The receptionist seemed completely unfamiliar with her workplace. When I presented my appointment letter, she read it, consulted her manager, and then informed me I was at the incorrect location. This reception area desperately requires fundamental training in customer service and patient guidance.

Long Wait, No Appointment at Urgent Care

Impossible to schedule a timely visit for pressing medical needs. Their phone lines only open past 8:15 am, and after enduring a 45-minute wait, I was informed all daily slots were filled. Absolutely frustrating. This ranks as the most terrible healthcare experience I've encountered. For non-urgent matters, they claim no availability for an entire month. Effectively, securing a doctor's appointment seems unattainable.
