Feedback reveals a deeply polarised patient experience at this practice, with significant concerns dominating the overall picture. Appointment availability emerges as the most persistent issue, with patients reporting waits of two weeks or longer, inability to book in advance, and difficulty accessing same-day slots. Telephone access presents a major barrier, with multiple reports of lengthy hold times, disconnected calls, and inability to reach the practice despite repeated attempts. Reception experience is frequently criticised, with patients describing staff as discourteous, dismissive, and unhelpful when managing appointment requests or patient concerns. Prescription handling has been problematic, with reports of incorrect medications, routing errors, and inconsistent processes causing confusion. Communication gaps are evident throughout, including conflicting instructions, unresponsiveness to queries, and lack of follow-up on promised callbacks.
Positive feedback, though less common, highlights the quality of clinical care when accessed. Patients consistently praise individual doctors and nursing staff for their professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness. Several reviews note that once an appointment is secured, the medical consultation itself is satisfactory. A small number of patients report smooth booking experiences and efficient service, suggesting variability in practice performance.
The contrast between clinical care quality and access barriers creates frustration for many long-standing patients who value their doctors but struggle with organisational systems. Issues with continuity, responsiveness, and the booking experience appear to be systemic rather than isolated, affecting patient confidence in the practice despite recognition of individual staff competence.

Rude doctor destroyed our trust today
I wish I could assign this practice a rating of zero. For 16 months, these physicians have been dismissive of both myself and my child. Following today's appointment, I've reluctantly concluded that I must change medical providers, which is the absolute last thing I wanted to do, especially given how outstanding the nursing staff is—they demonstrate far more compassion than any of the doctors. When I sought guidance and support from a doctor, I was instead subjected to a hurtful comment about my son's physical appearance—a remark no other medical professional has ever made. The level of service is completely unacceptable, and I fully intend to pursue this matter further.

Livi app saved me from clinic chaos
I must express that after enduring countless years of subpar assistance, I downloaded Livi, and to my pleasant surprise, received exceptional service. They processed my X-ray promptly, and I had to refer myself to skeletal specialists. The physician from the Richardson clinic (20-3) essentially suggested I was causing my own discomfort by taking paracetamol and provided me with a 10-step guide on opiates. I'm experiencing lung pain and have COPD, and was essentially told I'm a financial burden to the national health system due to being 40 stone overweight. The nurse's attitude? Well, draw your own conclusions. What an absolute mockery of healthcare! 😭

Dr. Susan Shannon was absolutely fantastic during my consultation today. She's truly an exceptional professional who represents her practice with the utmost excellence.

Doctors seem like urban legends here
Scheduling an in-person consultation here is a futile endeavor. Phone response times are painfully slow, and the only medical professionals available seem to be nurses - at least in my three-year experience. I'm starting to believe the doctors are purely fictional. When the pandemic struck, they completely withdrew, becoming utterly inaccessible. An absolutely terrible healthcare provider.

Trusted doctors for three decades now
I've been a loyal patient at this medical practice for three decades and have no desire to switch providers. My family is widely dispersed, with two of my daughters employed in different healthcare settings. Through their experiences, I can confidently say that the 'Bewicke team' is truly committed to delivering exceptional care.

Rude receptionists who just don't care
Utterly abysmal customer service from the telephone reception staff. As an NHS professional, I find their communication approach completely unacceptable and unprofessional. They provided zero assistance and effectively terminated our conversation abruptly, essentially dismissing my concerns. Their team desperately requires comprehensive communication skills training to improve their customer interaction standards.

Disappointing care after decades with bmh
I wholeheartedly champion the National Health Service, particularly in the North Tyneside area, but BMC urgently requires significant restructuring. Having been patients at this practice for over three and a half decades, the current care my wife is experiencing is, quite frankly, questionable at best.

Confusing prescription chaos at practice
We've encountered no significant problems with the medical centre until recently when we received conflicting instructions about obtaining repeat prescriptions. Initially, we were told we couldn't phone, use paper, or use the practice portal. After using the portal, we were directed to the chemist, then instructed to use Econsult without clear guidance, only to be subsequently told not to use Econsult but return to the portal. When we went to the chemist for a repeat prescription, they sent us back to the doctors. My 91-year-old mother, who is experiencing dementia, requires tests and a medication review but cannot leave home. I emailed the practice requesting information about the timing of these tests so I could accompany her. Their response? Simply "Use Econsult" - completely ignoring the content of my email and providing no substantive reply. It's an absolutely ridiculous situation with constantly shifting instructions, leaving us bewildered about who is actually making decisions at this practice.

Trusted doctor for three decades now
I've been a patient at this medical center for three decades, and they've earned my complete confidence. My sincere wishes go out to the entire staff. Dr. Coomber is my physician, and I'm deeply grateful for their care. They truly understand me!

Closed for lunch way too long
These medical professionals are absolutely the most terrible I've encountered. It's unbelievable that a medical practice would shut down for lunch, and not just briefly, but for a staggering ninety minutes - completely absurd! Their communication with patients is shockingly poor, and their attitude is deplorable. The only saving grace is the nursing staff. (Update) I've since relocated from this so-called healthcare facility. The receptionists and prescription staff are hands-down the most discourteous and unwelcoming individuals I've ever been unfortunate enough to interact with. This practice desperately needs a major overhaul, but they seem completely indifferent. I cannot stress enough: avoid them at all costs! My new healthcare providers in Wallsend are like guardian angels compared to these incompetent individuals.

Heartless practice left us without doctor
Recently signed up with Bewicke for myself and my infant son, who became seriously ill and was hospitalized just before our scheduled registration visit. Despite being fully aware of our challenging situation, Bewicke has now informed us that we must find alternative medical care, effectively leaving my two-week-old child without a doctor.

Frustrated after 22 years with my gp
I've been a patient at this medical practice for over two decades, and suddenly when I try to schedule a follow-up appointment that my doctor specifically recommended in December, they claim I'm no longer in their service area and suggest I find a new GP. They're keeping me on their records for just three weeks but refuse to book me an appointment, instead insisting I seek care elsewhere. The receptionist was incredibly unhelpful and dismissive. I'm furious because these doctors are familiar with my medical history and my child's healthcare needs, and now I'm forced to start over with a completely new practice from scratch.

Frustrating phone calls at bewicke medical centre
I concur with numerous other reviews highlighting this as the most subpar Medical Centre I've unfortunately encountered. Fortunately, I've relocated from Howdon and now utilize a Medical Centre in Whitley Bay, though I'm still obliged to interact with Bewicke on my father's behalf. Consistently, I'm unable to connect via telephone, certain Receptionists fail to pass along messages, and there appears to be complete disorganization within the practice, with nurses seemingly disconnected from doctors. This stands in stark opposition to my current medical centre, demonstrating that such facilities can indeed be managed effectively - something Bewicke absolutely fails to achieve!!

Terrible service for my sick daughter
I'd have given an even lower rating if I hadn't been a patient here for a decade, and things have only deteriorated. It's practically impossible to schedule an appointment via phone, and when I requested a doctor to visit and examine my sick child, they flatly stated they no longer provide home visits for children - absolutely ridiculous. Securing a doctor's appointment is virtually impossible; you're always fobbed off with a nurse, who are completely ineffective. You might as well seek medical attention at the veterinary clinic across the street.
