Patient Experience Summary

Feedback across this file reveals a deeply divided patient experience, with stark contrasts between clinical and administrative service quality. Medical professionals, including doctors and nursing staff, consistently receive praise for compassionate care, responsiveness, and clinical competence. However, reception experience presents a significant and recurring concern, with patients reporting poor courtesy, difficulty securing appointments, lengthy waiting times both on phone lines and in practice, and communication barriers. Appointment access emerges as a critical issue, with many patients describing impossible booking processes, restricted scheduling windows, and cancelled appointments without notice. Administrative responsiveness and organisation appear substantially weaker than clinical care, creating frustration that undermines otherwise positive medical interactions.

While some patients report smooth, welcoming experiences with helpful staff and efficient service delivery, the predominant pattern reflects systemic challenges in booking systems, reception courtesy, and patient communication. Several patients note that individual staff members demonstrate exceptional support, yet these isolated positive interactions cannot offset broader operational difficulties. The practice appears to struggle with managing patient volume relative to available appointment capacity, leading to extended waiting experiences and barriers to access that leave many patients feeling disrespected and unable to obtain timely care.

Frustrating customer service that solves nothing

Absolutely dreadful service from start to finish. Their customer support is a complete nightmare - every phone call ends up with you being shuffled to the Anima link, burning through half an hour without any actual resolution. They flatly refuse to book appointments via phone, and even when you manage to secure one, they inexplicably switch to an online format instead of a face-to-face meeting. The staff's professionalism is non-existent; they suggested a cream for my facial treatment, but when I visited the pharmacy, I was informed it's completely inappropriate for facial application.

Worst medical service ever experienced in my life

Completely unacceptable! I've been attempting to contact them for three consecutive days, and not a single medical professional has returned my call. I'm forced to make multiple daily calls just to ensure a callback, yet they consistently fail to respond. I've been spending six hours each day in the emergency department, waiting to be seen. The A&E then directs me to undergo additional tests, while my GP refuses to provide an appointment. It's an absolute catastrophe! I'm baffled how this medical practice continues to operate. This isn't a one-time problem; it's been a complete nightmare since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Unacceptable care for elderly cancer patient's needs

Utterly let down. I reached out today to schedule a follow-up consultation for my elderly mother, who recently had breast cancer surgery and needs her bandages changed and wound examined, only to be told by the receptionist that no nursing staff are available for a fortnight. Absolutely no compassion or concern, this medical practice should be deeply embarrassed by their lack of basic patient care.

Worst service ever, run away from this disaster

Absolute pinnacle of frustration, horrific customer experience that no one would wish upon themselves, their loved ones, or acquaintances. Steer clear of this at all costs. Complete mismanagement evident in every aspect - from prescription handling to processing, staffed by personnel lacking proper training and competence. Utterly let down. If only negative ratings were possible.

Great Support

My 9 year old son was struggling with pains near his chest, I called the doctors and spoke to a lovely lady Rani Zeera at Bharani Medical Centre, Bath road, she was so nice listened to my concern, had the doctor calll me within the hour. Then Dr R Sandhu called my in for a check-up within the hour, all on the same day. This really helped my stress levels as I was very worried about my son, and was reassured it wasn't nothing serious, possible asthma for which they have booked two tests over the next week. Thanks for listening and making a difference Bharani Medical Centre Team.

Terrible healthcare experience with unhelpful medical staff

Medical professionals these days are absolutely hopeless. It's impossible to secure an appointment, and when you try to contact them, they just redirect you to the NHS app for booking. But guess what? Once you're on the app, there are zero available slots. It's utterly unacceptable. Their service is a complete disgrace, and this healthcare facility is essentially lifeless and non-functional.

Terrible healthcare service that fails its patients completely

I am utterly let down by the substandard care at this medical practice. The personnel appear completely unprepared and display a shocking absence of professional conduct when dealing with patients. Each encounter has been nothing short of exasperating and completely futile. The wait times are ridiculously excessive, with patients forced to endure endless hours just to receive any form of response. It's glaringly obvious that there is zero systematic approach or genuine concern for addressing patient requirements. This medical facility is so fundamentally broken that it should be immediately disqualified from providing healthcare services. It is absolutely scandalous that such blatant incompetence is tolerated within a system designed to safeguard people's well-being. Radical transformation is essential, or this practice should be shut down to prevent further damage to the local community. If there were an option to assign zero stars, I would seize it without hesitation. This place is completely undeserving of even the most minimal recognition.

Terrible nurse traumatized my son during vaccination visit

A Polish healthcare worker displayed shocking disregard for my child's medical background, aggressively pushing vaccinations that potentially endangered his health. She forcefully removed my son from my arms and callously threw a soiled diaper onto his car seat, behaving in a manner that was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Her conduct was so appalling that I immediately switched medical providers to protect my child from such reckless treatment.

Poor!

Terrible reception but dr sandhu saves the day

The practice operates with the most incompetent and unethical standards imaginable. It appears the staff are incentivized to avoid booking patient appointments. I have repeatedly called the surgery over recent weeks. They seem to employ every possible strategy to minimize their workload, consistently deflecting bookings and directing patients to an online system at 8am. My attempts to secure an appointment have been overwhelmingly unsuccessful, with the system either non-functional or claiming daily booking quotas have been reached. In the rare instance I managed to see a doctor - once in 11 attempts - Dr Sandhu demonstrated exceptional professionalism, immediately arranging an urgent MRI referral. My previous interaction with Dr Kumar years ago was similarly positive, though these isolated experiences cannot compensate for the overall poor service. Even this morning, 30/11/2023 @ 08.27, I remain on hold after 22 minutes, positioned as caller number 7, while the online booking system refuses any appointments until 8am tomorrow. Update: 7th December 2023. Following another consultation with Dr Sandhu, I'm genuinely impressed by her consistent professionalism. She thoughtfully listened to my concerns regarding patient communication and promised to relay my suggestions to the practice's leadership. She articulated the challenging circumstances doctors face, providing context for patients' frustrated reviews. Conclusion: The doctors I've encountered (Dr Kumar JR and Dr Sandhu) are thoroughly professional and compassionate. While front-of-house staff may be overwhelmed, they could significantly improve patient interactions with increased empathy. Simply redirecting patients to an unreliable online booking tool is fundamentally inadequate.

Frustrating medical service with unhelpful reception staff

The receptionist at this location exudes an off-putting sense of superiority and appears completely disinterested in assisting patients. While the physicians themselves seem acceptable, navigating the process of securing an appointment is incredibly frustrating. I've been attempting to schedule a consultation for weeks without success. Their communication methods are extremely limited - they either instruct you to call precisely at 8 o'clock or suggest using an e-consult system that is fundamentally non-functional. Essentially, you're left with two equally ineffective options: telephoning or physically visiting the GP center, both of which will inevitably result in being dismissed or turned away.

Terrible healthcare with unhelpful receptionist nightmare

Unfortunately, I'm compelled to give one star, though this establishment hardly merits even that. I'm genuinely bewildered by how this operates as a medical practice. If you can navigate past the authoritarian, control-obsessed receptionist who seemingly believes she's qualified to provide medical advice, you might actually consult a doctor. For the past two and a half weeks, this same receptionist has been fielding my calls, repeatedly asserting that I don't require medical attention. This contradicts the walk-in center's diagnosis of sciatica and recommendation to see my GP if the pain persisted. She continually dismisses me, insisting I cannot see a doctor until I've first consulted a physiotherapist, despite my urgent need for pain management as my painkillers have been exhausted. After persistently calling the surgery since October 4th, I finally secured an appointment at Lansdown Avenue yesterday (14/10/24). However, I discovered I couldn't see a doctor, as the receptionist had only scheduled me with a physiotherapist incapable of prescribing medication or making hospital referrals. I'm now left with excruciating left leg pain, completely uncertain about my next steps, and without any pain relief. I'm astounded by the continued employment of this receptionist, and I'm certain I'm not the only patient she's mishandled. Regrettably, after two decades of loyalty to this surgery, I've concluded it's time to seek medical care elsewhere.

Worst medical practice ever absolute nightmare

Unfortunately, a zero-star rating isn't available. I've been associated with this medical practice for 56 years, previously considering it a respectable establishment, but it has deteriorated dramatically in recent times. First off, the reception staff appear perpetually disinterested, allowing phone calls to go unanswered and displaying zero customer empathy. Prescription processing has become unreliably slow. What happened to the Christmas tree during the holiday season? I recognize not everyone celebrates, but surely some patients and staff appreciate festive decorations. Moreover, the hand dryer in the women's restroom has been non-functional for years - seriously, am I expected to bring my own tools and repair it myself?

Terrible reception staff ruin good medical practice

The medical professionals are decent, but the GP practice deserves a zero rating due to their abysmal reception staff. They are the most heartless, inconsiderate, useless, and unhelpful team imaginable, with zero communication skills. The oldest receptionist is particularly problematic - she's negative and militant, acting as if patients work for her instead of the other way around. I continuously receive messages prompting me to book an e-consultation for a blood test result, but the provided link is non-functional since the surgery doesn't accept online booking. The reception staff rigidly insist on calls made precisely at 8 am, after which they refuse all requests. It's either call at that exact moment or receive no support whatsoever. Last week, I visited in person and encountered the same receptionist who immediately claimed the system was down. When I challenged her, she remained negative regardless. The clinic manager was present and asked her to take my details and book an appointment when possible, and I submitted a repeat prescription form - neither of which were processed. The service from the reception staff is absolutely appalling. This ongoing issue has persisted for nearly two weeks, and I remain unable to book an appointment.
