Patient feedback reveals significant challenges with appointment access and reception experience, alongside notable strengths in clinical care. Securing appointments remains a persistent frustration, with patients reporting difficulties reaching the practice by phone, long waiting times to join queues, and limited availability despite multiple booking attempts. The reception experience is frequently cited as problematic, with patients describing staff as dismissive, unhelpful, and occasionally discourteous, creating barriers to accessing care. Communication gaps between reception and clinical teams have also been noted, with patients reporting inconsistent information and inadequate follow-up on test results and treatment plans.
In contrast, nursing and medical professionals consistently receive praise for their courtesy, compassion, and attentiveness. The pharmacy team is similarly commended for responsiveness and support. Recent improvements to the online booking system have been welcomed by some patients, though others report ongoing frustrations with the Patches appointment platform. The practice appears to be in transition, with some patients noting positive changes in efficiency and staff friendliness, while others continue to experience significant access difficulties and organisational challenges that undermine confidence in the service.

Bupa saves the day after dismissive doctors fail
After struggling with an undiagnosed condition for nearly a decade, I was repeatedly dismissed by medical professionals who claimed my illness was fabricated for attention. In contrast, Bupa actually takes the time to listen and show genuine care, unlike the local doctors who seem more interested in undermining patients and projecting their personal frustrations. This particular physician clearly believes he's a psychological expert, yet spends more time argumentatively challenging me instead of doing what doctors should do: listen carefully and help diagnose underlying problems. His approach appears deliberately cruel, leaving patients to continue suffering needlessly. I intend to file a formal complaint with the Care Quality Commission and ensure these unprofessional practices are addressed.

Blandford surgery fails to provide basic patient care
Another disappointing interaction with the medical practice after submitting a request via Patchs. It appears the staff are instructed to redirect patients away from receiving care at their own registered clinic. Currently, it seems Blandford is eager to send patients anywhere but their own facility. A simple medication request for an established condition, and rather than addressing it internally, they've outsourced the problem, whether to The Hub or in this instance, scheduling a pharmacy consultation. It's not an unreasonable expectation that when you're registered with a general practitioner, you should receive assistance directly from that practice instead of being shuttled to alternative services.

Compassionate nurse shines through flawed healthcare system
Helen, the nurse, was exceptionally compassionate and supportive. She made a special effort to arrange a follow-up wound dressing appointment, even if it meant arriving earlier than usual. First consultation after submitting a Patches request. Patches system disappointing. Frustrated by the automatic shutdown once capacity is met. Staff are clearly trying their hardest. Overall, the system is fundamentally flawed.

Patchs triage system fails patient completely
I rarely need medical attention, but today's experience with my doctor's office was incredibly frustrating. I called and was directed to use Patchs, an online consultation service. I had to log into an online form, missing the personal touch of direct communication. After answering numerous irrelevant questions and specifying my availability after 5pm, I expected a call. Instead, I received a text confirming an appointment that conflicts with another commitment. When I called to reschedule, an unhelpful receptionist informed me I'd need to restart the entire Patchs triage process the next morning, claiming I should have noted my unavailability. Apparently, I was supposed to anticipate an appointment before it was even offered. Now I must use another Patchs slot, potentially taking resources from someone else, simply to reschedule an appointment that Patchs already determined I needed. Every interaction with this practice has been a hassle, and I'm grateful these occasions are infrequent. The current system seems designed to discourage patients from seeking medical help. It's no wonder health issues go unaddressed when accessing medical care is such a complicated process. I acknowledge the NHS does incredible work, but the patient experience desperately needs improvement. Making it easier to see or speak with a doctor should be a priority.

Friendly pharmacy staff save the day
I encountered an issue with my recurring medication prescriptions, which I had inadvertently caused. I phoned the medical practice and communicated with the staff in the dispensary, who promptly resolved my concern on the spot. The team there performed exceptionally well, and I am truly appreciative of their assistance. Patricia Frankland

Frustrating healthcare journey with unhelpful management
I recently sought a GP appointment but was turned away. Instead, I was redirected to the Livewell Hub where I encountered a pleasant physiotherapist, however: 1) I was compelled to pay for parking, unlike at Blandford House where parking is complimentary. 2) While the physio could diagnose my condition, they were unable to prescribe medication. Consequently, I had to wait an additional day to request pain relief through the frustratingly inefficient PATCHS system. Moreover, the physio suggested I alert them to potential medication interactions - is it truly my responsibility to manage these medical complexities? I am not a healthcare professional! 3) My attempts to file a formal complaint have been systematically obstructed by the practice manager, Caroline Jones, who now refuses all communication. Given her deplorable conduct, I requested her supervisor's contact information, which she has flatly denied. I strongly suspect Caroline Jones has been dishonest and appears to believe she is untouchable and immune to accountability. We are all aware of the NHS's systemic breakdown due to governmental mismanagement, but... Once you actually encounter a medical professional, the care itself is commendable - the real challenges lie in navigating the initial access. The core issue resides with 'middle management' types who possess an inflated sense of self-importance, hide behind bureaucratic shields, and demonstrate a remarkable lack of empathy. The PATCHS system is abysmal, and Caroline Jones has informed me that complaints are merely filed internally per NHS policy, suggesting absolutely no meaningful action is taken. Truly, what is the purpose? If I didn't have elevated blood pressure before this ordeal, I most certainly do now.

Disastrous medical center with terrible communication
Terrible experience. This is now my medical practice. I attempted to schedule an appointment through their system and received a vague message indicating an appointment existed with no clear details. After investigating, I discovered a text stating an appointment at 10:55 on Saturday at Blandford medical centre. I arranged childcare and traveled there, only to find it completely closed. Checking their system revealed no appointment record, and their phone line was unavailable. Later, I received a message accusing me of missing an appointment and potentially preventing someone else from receiving care. I was absolutely livid and needed several days to compose myself. When I finally called reception, they claimed they had sent a message about a "hub" - a location I've never heard of and for an appointment system I'm unfamiliar with. I simply wanted a straightforward doctor's appointment. The receptionist was incredibly unprofessional, essentially blaming me and suggesting I was dishonest. This is an absolutely awful medical practice, and I am actively seeking an alternative healthcare provider.

Caring and compassionate healthcare at its best
Grateful to Blandford for their exceptional service. Right from the initial assessment, I was scheduled to see the nurse immediately. The process was seamless and welcoming. I've consistently had positive interactions, and my annual health screenings for my learning disability are always timely and well-organized. The staff's warm approach is truly appreciated.

Unhelpful reception leaves patient frustrated and unheard
I encountered an incredibly discourteous receptionist. While attempting to urgently consult a physician, I submitted three separate consultation requests as the staff repeatedly provided incorrect responses. Subsequently, I received a call accusing me of squandering appointments - which never actually existed in the first place. This prompted me to submit another request. As a healthcare professional, one should demonstrate empathy and respect towards patients. After being informed that no GP appointments were available today, I contacted 111, who promptly secured a medical consultation for me! How is this possible? I'm continuously being dismissed by receptionists who seemingly have no interest in performing their professional responsibilities adequately.

Frustrating healthcare with poor patient communication
A frustrating medical facility that falls short in every aspect. Scheduling an appointment seems impossible, and securing routine blood tests for HRT becomes a nightmare. The front desk staff are dismissive and condescending during phone interactions, and on the rare occasion you actually reach someone, you're met with overwhelming stress and a dismissive attitude. They either attempt to misdiagnose your concerns or invalidate your medical experiences, leaving you feeling unheard and frustrated. I could elaborate on the numerous problems, but frankly, it's not worth the emotional energy to detail their incompetence.

Frustrating healthcare access with unhelpful receptionists
Attempting to schedule a consultation while traveling to my job, I found myself unable to even join the waiting line after spending an hour on the phone. It's evident that the front desk staff are overwhelmed due to the high volume of patients at this medical practice. My previous in-person interactions with the receptionists have also been deeply unsatisfactory. They appear visibly strained and seem completely disengaged from their professional responsibilities.

Avoid this medical practice at all costs
My family and I are gladly departing from this appalling medical practice. The front desk staff are absolutely dreadful individuals. My son was instructed to visit 'the live well hub' for his appointment yesterday. We were unfamiliar with this location and requested directions. He went and waited for an hour and a half, only to be informed he wasn't actually scheduled there. I contacted the surgery, and the receptionist vehemently denied ever directing him to 'the live well hub' - despite both my son and I being present when the original instruction was given. Suddenly, a new appointment became 'magically' available later that afternoon at the actual surgery. He spent a mere 30 seconds with a discourteous doctor who, when asked to check something additional, curtly responded, 'you need to make another appointment'. As everyone knows, securing an appointment with these receptionists is exponentially more challenging than arranging a royal audience! When I attempted to discuss the matter, the receptionist abruptly hung up on me - with workplace colleagues present who heard the entire exchange. What immature behavior! Being a patient at this surgery has been nothing short of stressful, unpleasant, and deeply invalidating. Shame on these individuals who make patients feel worse instead of better. I emailed the absurd woman supposedly 'managing' the reception team, who merely endorses their atrocious conduct. Terrible human beings. Steer clear of this place at all costs.

Nightmare gp surgery with terrible reception staff
Absolute nightmare of a medical practice. They should be deeply embarrassed. Getting appointments for my infant son is an impossible challenge, primarily due to the nightmare of dealing with their reception staff. One particular receptionist, who I'm certain causes widespread frustration, desperately needs to understand her role is to BOOK APPOINTMENTS, not induce overwhelming anxiety in parents. After having the phone abruptly disconnected when requesting to speak with the practice manager, I visited the surgery only to be met with smirks and giggles from the same receptionist, while I was visibly distressed and in tears about my child's situation. My conversation with practice manager Caroline was equally disappointing, as she appeared overly defensive of her staff and provided zero meaningful assistance. I ABSOLUTELY do not recommend this GP surgery and strongly advise thoroughly investigating local medical practices before registering. I am committed to holding them accountable to prevent recurring incidents like my previous experience, where my 5-week-old was denied an appointment and ultimately required an emergency ambulance, resulting in arm scarring due to delayed medical attention for a rash. As an additional note, if you're seeking employment and have "COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL & UTTERLY USELESS" as a career highlight, this is your ideal workplace.
