Patient Experience Summary

Feedback on this practice reveals significant challenges alongside some positive experiences. Patients consistently report substantial difficulties accessing appointments through phone booking systems, with many describing unanswered calls, lengthy wait times, and unavailable slots despite calling early in the morning. Reception experience emerges as a major concern, with numerous accounts of discourteous and dismissive behaviour from front desk staff, though some patients noted individual receptionists who were helpful and supportive. Communication issues extend beyond reception, with patients reporting poor responsiveness to queries and concerns about prescription processing and test result follow-up.

Medical care experiences are mixed. While some patients praised nursing staff as compassionate and supportive, and described receiving efficient care, others raised concerns about brief consultations, inadequate assessments, and dismissive attitudes from certain medical professionals. Several patients mentioned receiving prescriptions without proper in-person examination, and concerns were raised about continuity of care and thorough diagnostic consideration.

Positive feedback highlighted the recently introduced telephone booking system as an improvement, courteous reception staff in some interactions, and professional medical care from certain practitioners. However, the overall pattern suggests systemic access and communication challenges that significantly impact patient experience, alongside inconsistency in the quality of reception and clinical interactions.

Excellent!

Amazing healthcare team with unexpected excellence

When we relocated to this area a couple of years back, we were initially hesitant about registering with this medical practice due to some less-than-stellar online reviews. However, we decided to give it a try since it was conveniently located nearby. What a pleasant surprise! We've consistently received excellent care whenever we've needed to see a healthcare professional, whether a doctor or nurse. While the appointment booking process can be a bit challenging over the phone, we've always managed to secure timely slots and receive appropriate attention. It's important to understand that not every medical concern requires a GP consultation, as skilled nurses can handle many issues and will consult with a doctor if necessary. My husband recently discovered a long-term health condition, and the staff have been incredibly supportive throughout. The receptionists are particularly friendly and helpful - having worked in a similar role myself, I appreciate how challenging their job can be, especially when dealing with difficult patients. As a final note, I utilized the NHS 111 service late one night and was impressed when Dr. Oo personally called me the next morning at 8:30am to follow up and arrange the required treatment. I consider this level of care to be truly efficient and professional.

Terrible customer service at this medical nightmare

Truly, you'll only encounter harassment from the front desk staff, followed by sheer contempt and indifference from every physician. It's an experience far more terrible than you could possibly anticipate.

Surprisingly efficient medical service despite long wait

I called the office at 8:00 AM and found myself 13th in line, uncertain whether I'd secure an appointment but remaining optimistic. Upon finally reaching the receptionist, she proved incredibly supportive, discussing my circumstances with a colleague and arranging a doctor's telephone consultation. The return call arrived at 9:30, and they subsequently scheduled an in-person meeting for 10:15. While I'm not fond of the current procedure, it does effectively address legitimate medical requirements.

Disappointing doctor but friendly nurse saves day

Since relocating to Ecton Brook in 2017, I've been a patient at this clinic. Generally, the reception staff have been courteous. However, one particular Doctor left a significantly negative impression. I was taken aback by his unprofessional demeanor. A medical professional with such an attitude? He seems to need a reality check. Truly arrogant. I have no desire to encounter him again and sincerely hope my next appointment involves a different physician. On a brighter note, there was a wonderfully kind Filipina nurse named Raquel that day. She was exceptionally friendly and demonstrated remarkable gentleness while drawing my blood samples. I was disappointed to learn she has since moved northward. I currently have no photographs to accompany this review, but I may add some during a future visit.

Worst medical service ever avoid at all costs

Absolutely dreadful! It's impossible to secure an appointment, no matter how early you call in the morning. Their phone system is a nightmare - there's no actual person to interact with, and you're left waiting for 30 minutes, only to be abruptly cut off when you finally reach the front of the queue. I'm seriously considering returning to our previous medical practice.

Frustrating reception and unhelpful medical staff

The customer service at this facility was incredibly disappointing. When I arrived at 28 weeks experiencing knee discomfort, seeking a doctor's appointment, I was frustrated by their inefficient system. Despite calling early in the morning, you're somehow 19th in the queue - how is this even possible? At 1:55 pm, the receptionist coldly informed me I must register by phone and sarcastically wished me luck getting seen that day. After returning to my car and waiting 15 minutes to call, the same receptionist answered, recognizing me instantly. She then informed me that the doctor could only conduct a phone consultation. It's all theoretical nonsense with absolutely no practical application!

Worst medical practice ever disappointing healthcare experience

It's truly frustrating that I can't rate this lower than a single star. This morning, precisely at 8am, I was sixth in line when calling. After finally reaching the receptionist, I was informed that absolutely no doctor appointments were accessible - and this isn't an isolated incident! There are occasions when they even claim "no doctors are present today". I've encountered no medical practice as substandard as this, and I'm seriously contemplating finding an alternative healthcare provider.

Horrible receptionist endangers patient care and privacy

The receptionist deserves a one-star rating, and I wish I could rate even lower. Her customer service skills are abysmal, and her attitude is completely unprofessional. She brazenly discusses patient medical information loudly, seemingly oblivious to patient confidentiality and GDPR regulations. My critical long-term seizure medication was arbitrarily stopped, and when I inquired, she dismissively told me to speak to the doctor, despite my having received this prescription monthly for six months with a neurology confirmation. When I expressed my concern about accessing my medication, her callous response was "not my problem," and she then accused me of being perpetually rude, claiming to have heard me on previous phone calls - which suggests she's been inappropriately eavesdropping on private conversations. I was left in tears, distressed about my medication situation, and deeply worried about the dangerous level of power given to such unprofessional staff. While most employees work diligently, this receptionist's behavior is appalling and potentially harmful. The practice seems dangerously close to causing serious patient harm, and without an effective complaint mechanism, my only recourse is to contact the Quality Care Commission.

An absolute disgrace warranting the lowest possible rating. This establishment is a complete letdown to its registered patients. Despite multiple attempts, they consistently fail to process a simple prescription correctly. It's no wonder they're considered among the most subpar medical practices in Northampton. I'll be returning to the out-of-hours clinic to avoid dealing with this incompetent facility.

Terrible receptionist ruins healthcare experience for patients

I deeply empathize with the dedicated NHS personnel navigating extremely challenging circumstances. Nevertheless, one particular receptionist (Amanda) is clearly miscast in her role. In fact, she would struggle to maintain employment in any customer-oriented position. Her demeanor is persistently discourteous and unquestionably inappropriate. Such conduct undermines the entire medical practice and will undoubtedly negatively impact the emotional state of the unfortunate patients subjected to her disrespectful treatment.

Negligent doctor misdiagnosed my sick child

During my daughter's appointment with Dr Oo on Thursday morning, the medical professional dismissed her condition as trivial. Despite her running a fever of 38.2, he conducted a brief examination and declared her healthy, advising us to simply manage her symptoms at home. Shortly after returning home, her condition deteriorated significantly. She began vomiting, which prompted us to seek emergency medical care at the hospital. There, medical staff diagnosed her with both an ear and throat infection. Dr Oo's medical judgment and approach were completely inadequate, demonstrating a clear lack of thorough care and professional diligence.

Terrible medical practice with zero patient care

It's impossible to adequately express how terrible this medical practice is!! Getting a face-to-face doctor's appointment seems impossible. By Tuesday, we were informed that their sole physician is on vacation, and the locum doctor works remotely with zero available appointments this week. Two weeks ago, calling at 8am put me 12th in the queue, and by 8:15 they announced no more appointments, directing us to try again tomorrow. Today's nurse interaction was shockingly brief - a 5-second call where she curtly announced "you have an infection" and prescribed antibiotics before abruptly hanging up! My elderly father, 88 years old, has been seen just once in six years. He's been on long-term repeat prescriptions that require six-monthly reviews, but every time he requests a review, they completely dismiss him. The one time my mother managed to see a doctor about her persistently swollen and painful knee - after waiting months - the physician bizarrely wore hospital scrubs and didn't even examine her knee, simply advising her to monitor the condition. Incredibly, this was after months of ongoing pain. Bottom line: avoid this practice if you actually want meaningful medical attention.

Complete nonsense! I can't fathom who thought this new telephone system was a good idea, but it's absolutely terrible! Spent 45 minutes waiting in the queue, and when they finally answered, their connection was so poor they hung up within 5 seconds. Zero possibility of reconnecting. How am I expected to schedule a routine cervical screening when it's impossible to communicate with anyone.

Terrible service could cost me my life

I called the clinic this morning seeking an appointment due to persistent chest pains on my right side, extending from under my armpit to the front of my chest, which have been ongoing since March 6th. The receptionist was incredibly abrupt and wouldn't allow me to fully explain my situation, immediately instructing me to come in at 9:20 am. Her approach was so stressful that I ended up hanging up the phone. If something happens to me, let it be known that the receptionist's attitude could be responsible. All I wanted was a simple callback from a doctor to arrange a referral to the SDEC unit at Northampton hospital. I've already undergone blood tests, x-rays, and ECG scans. I'm imploring them to contact me, as I'm not going to call back again.
