Feedback reflects a deeply divided patient experience at this practice, with significant concerns around appointment access and communication alongside notable examples of compassionate care. Patients consistently report substantial difficulties with phone wait times, booking system failures, and prescription processing delays, with many describing the appointment scheduling process as frustrating and time-consuming. Reception experience varies considerably, with some patients praising courteous and responsive staff while others describe dismissive and unhelpful interactions. Communication gaps appear systemic, particularly regarding medication management and follow-up care.
Positive feedback highlights professional nursing staff, thorough examinations, and instances of responsive communication when patients successfully reach the practice. Several patients commend the online booking platform as more efficient than phone scheduling, and some report excellent continuity of care and compassionate support during consultations. However, these positive experiences are substantially outweighed by accounts of poor access, lengthy waiting periods, and inadequate responsiveness to patient needs.
The practice demonstrates inconsistency in service delivery across different departments and staff members. While some patients report seamless appointment access and supportive care, others describe barriers to obtaining timely medical attention, particularly for urgent concerns. Issues with prescription management and medication availability recur throughout feedback, suggesting systemic organisational challenges rather than isolated incidents.

Got a recommendation from my highly competent physicians for a Saturday 9am slot, received the confirmation text, only to arrive and find the place completely shut down!!!

Quick and easy medical communication online
Skip calling the medical practice and instead utilize their online platform. You can seek guidance, retrieve test outcomes, or simply communicate health inquiries via email. I consistently find this method to be a convenient and streamlined approach to accessing their healthcare services.

Terrible medical practice with zero customer care
Total Disaster!!! Scheduling an appointment is impossible, the personnel are discourteous and condescendingly dismissive, medication refills are perpetually delayed, and somehow you're held responsible when they fail to notify you!!! Steer clear of this clinic if you have any concern for your well-being!!!

Incompetent doctors strike again with terrible service
Scheduled a telephone consultation at 4 PM, only to receive a condescending message claiming I skipped a morning in-person appointment at 10:30 AM. Now I'm left without antibiotics for the entire weekend. How could they mess up so spectacularly? This just adds to the countless reasons why this medical practice has such a terrible reputation. At this point, all I can do is chuckle at the sheer incompetence of this surgery.

Poor!
Terrible medical care and lack of compassion
My partner and I have decided to switch from Brook Medical Centre due to feeling unsupported in our healthcare journey. I have an extremely rare condition, and my partner was repeatedly told by Diabetic Nurse Kim to lose weight, which deeply affected our emotional well-being. On occasion, phone calls were abruptly terminated. Doctor Gilby's approach was unprofessional; when my partner explained her neck and lumbar spine stenosis causing severe pain, he dismissively stated she wouldn't improve and simply increased her Gabapentin, mentioning it would take four weeks to take effect - hardly comforting when she was experiencing suicidal thoughts due to her suffering. I'm giving two stars to Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Blaxter for their help. Dr. Jandoon was typically decent, but during Tara's last visit, she was uncharacteristically abrupt and told her she needed to "learn to live with it." Consequently, we have now left Brook Medical Centre.

Frustrating reception ruins helpful nurses experience
The nursing staff have been incredibly supportive during my visits. However, interacting with the front desk to schedule a doctor's appointment is a completely different experience. After sustaining a significant impact to my nose and head a week prior, I suspected a potential fracture and sought medical assessment. When I requested the doctor to examine my injury and potentially refer me for an x-ray, the receptionist insisted I go to the emergency room. I tried explaining that I simply wanted professional medical guidance to determine if an ER visit was necessary, hoping to avoid unnecessarily burdening already overwhelmed emergency services. To my astonishment, I was told I couldn't "queue jump" and that the doctor couldn't provide an x-ray referral. My motivation was purely to be responsible and considerate, yet I was met with unhelpful bureaucracy. Excellent customer service? Definitely not.

Terrible customer service at local medical practice
Stuck on hold for 20 minutes during a phone call, only to have the call drop unexpectedly. When I immediately tried calling back, I was informed the office was closed on Tuesday afternoon, contradicting the online hours that claimed they were open until 6:30 PM. It's incredibly frustrating as I can never successfully schedule an appointment at this terrible medical practice.

Compassionate care that truly made a difference
I want to express my gratitude to the front desk staff for facilitating my appointment with a nurse. My appreciation extends to the two nurses who evaluated my condition and initiated my healing process. Lastly, I'm thankful for the nurse who followed up with a phone call to my home, monitoring my recovery and fine-tuning my medication. Your support and compassionate care are truly invaluable. Sincere thanks and warm regards, Carl Eardley

Helpful staff resolves vaccination message confusion
Despite not being a patient myself, I recently started receiving text messages about a Covid vaccination for my 12-year-old daughter, who is also not a patient. I was incredibly frustrated and puzzled about why these messages were coming to us and how they obtained our contact information. To cut a long story short, I called and spoke with Carol, who was incredibly supportive. She investigated the issue, provided a clear explanation for why we were receiving these texts, and after I shared some additional information, she accessed my daughter's records and marked a box to prevent us from being further bothered about the vaccine. I am immensely appreciative and cannot criticize her level of professionalism. Thank you, Carol.

Pharmacy fails patients with critical medication needs
Absolutely appalling that critical, potentially life-preserving medication isn't considered a priority. If I could rate this lower than the minimum, I absolutely would.

Worst medical practice ever terrible service nightmare
Edit 14/09/2021 Their scheduling system is completely inadequate. Despite being told to call on a specific day, I'm unable to reach anyone via phone, and they lack even a basic answering machine or queuing system. Since their opening, I've been continuously attempting to contact them. My health condition is critical (unrelated to Covid), yet I cannot schedule an appointment or communicate with the surgery. I desperately want to leave. My last medical consultation was in February 2020 at the Haywood walk-in centre, where I received an uncertain diagnosis. The physician recommended an immediate GP appointment. Subsequently, I've made countless call attempts, with the surgery either disconnecting just before my turn or simply not answering. Yesterday afternoon, while their timetable indicated they were open, their voicemail claimed they were closed and unavailable. The receptionists seem to inappropriately access personal medical information, which is profoundly humiliating. My previously urgent appointment, finally secured after fifteen months of trying, has been downgraded because I wasn't "actively pursuing" medical care. Their policy of only booking appointments one week ahead makes scheduling practically impossible. The entire practice is incompetent, with both Gilby (who is perpetually absent) and the receptionists demonstrating shocking unprofessionalism.

Unhelpful mental health service fails struggling patient
As someone who has been personally managing depression for years, I reluctantly sought their assistance when I was on the brink of total emotional collapse. When I reached out hoping for support, their initial response was shockingly dismissive. I candidly shared my long-standing struggle with depression, and they coldly informed me that if my condition had persisted beyond two weeks, they were unable to provide help. I was stunned, but their statement was unequivocally accurate. I can't help but contemplate the potentially devastating consequences of such a callous interaction, and how many individuals might be pushed towards more desperate measures after receiving such a heartless response. Ultimately, this experience compelled me to independently research and acquire medication online.

Terrible healthcare experience with unhelpful staff
Completely terrible experience! It takes around 100 attempts to connect with a representative who seems completely clueless. The organization is horrendously disorganized, and scheduling an appointment is a weeks-long nightmare. These are without doubt the most incompetent medical professionals I've ever had the misfortune of encountering!

Unhelpful nurse made my medical visit traumatic
As I visited the nurse at Brook medical yesterday, my husband accompanied me as my caregiver since my stroke, and I struggle to process information. We've been waiting weeks for results, and when we finally got to see the nurse, Kim was incredibly disrespectful. She questioned why my husband was with me, despite us explaining his role, which deeply distressed me. Given my severe anxiety, it takes tremendous effort for me to even attend appointments, and her attitude was completely unacceptable. I will not be returning to see her again, and she should have shown more understanding and compassion for my medical condition. 😢

Worst medical experience of my miserable life
Getting an appointment at this clinic is an exercise in futility. The phone lines are perpetually jammed, making scheduling seemingly impossible. If you're unfortunate enough to end up with Dr. Philipa Blaxter, prepare to be dismissed and mocked about your legitimate health concerns. Her bedside manner is so unprofessional that she has no business practicing medicine.
