Patient feedback reveals a mixed experience across the practice, with significant variation in satisfaction levels. Many patients report positive interactions with reception staff who demonstrate courtesy and responsiveness, alongside compassionate medical professionals who provide attentive care. However, appointment access remains a persistent challenge, with patients frequently citing difficulty securing timely consultations through both phone and online booking systems. Several reviews highlight frustration with extended waiting periods and the practice's preference for directing patients toward alternative services rather than offering direct GP appointments.
Communication and continuity of care emerge as areas of concern, with some patients reporting lack of follow-up on treatment outcomes and inconsistency when seeing different practitioners. Reception experience is notably polarized, with some staff receiving praise for going above and beyond, whilst others are described as discourteous or unhelpful. The practice's digital booking platforms, including e-consult and online systems, generate mixed reactions—some patients find them efficient and convenient, whilst others experience frustration with capacity limitations and rescheduling complications.
Where patients do access care, medical treatment is frequently described as effective and supportive. Several long-term patients express appreciation for the practice's responsiveness to urgent needs and the quality of clinical care provided. However, concerns about medication delays, appointment cancellations, and perceived organizational inefficiency suggest systemic challenges that impact the overall patient experience, particularly for those with complex or ongoing healthcare needs.

Cancelled at the last minute again
Utterly appalling! Completely unacceptable service. My partner's appointment was abruptly cancelled at the eleventh hour while en route to the clinic. He had meticulously planned his day, used his holiday time, and travelled for nothing. Rather than offering a sincere apology or showing any empathy, they coldly instructed him to "reschedule" as if patients have endless availability to accommodate their poor management. This practice demonstrates absolute disrespect for those depending on their care. The unprofessionalism and lack of basic human courtesy is astounding. Cancelling appointments is bad enough, but doing so when someone is already travelling and then forcing the inconvenience back onto the patient is beyond unacceptable. I expect significantly better from a healthcare provider. They need to rectify their scheduling and start treating patients with genuine respect. This is now the SECOND occurrence for him, clearly indicating this isn't merely "unforeseen circumstances" but systematic poor organisation and complete disregard for patients' time. During his previous visit, he wasn't even seen by his designated healthcare provider. Instead, he was redirected to another doctor "due to unforeseen circumstances," forcing him to re-explain his entire medical history to someone unfamiliar with his case. This is not proper continuity of care; it's simply lazy and unprofessional. Despite diligently taking and submitting blood pressure readings as requested, they've essentially abandoned him from last year to this, prescribing medication that demonstrably doesn't work. He received two weeks of ineffective tablets, with nobody showing the slightest interest in following up or adjusting the treatment. It feels like they've merely dispensed medication to silence him rather than genuinely address his health concerns. No proper monitoring, no adjustments, and no indication that anyone cares about the treatment's effectiveness. I will absolutely be leaving this mockery of a medical practice! Steer clear AT ALL COSTS!

Psoriasis gone after years of struggle
I've found scheduling with this practice to be straightforward, despite occasional wait times stretching 30-45 minutes beyond my appointed slot. Having consulted them for various health concerns, I'm genuinely appreciative that their prescribed treatment successfully resolved a persistent psoriasis condition that had troubled me for 3-4 years, with no recurrence since. Though I've now relocated, I wanted to share my positive experience and acknowledge their effective medical care.

Frustrating wait times and unhelpful staff
I experienced substantial difficulties at Chalfont Surgery - Brookside Group Practice. Upon escalating my concern to a supervisor, I was confronted by an employee whose demeanor was unprofessional, and who provided a contact number involving a 2-hour waiting period for any potential response. Moreover, attempting to voice a complaint results in the call being abruptly disconnected, which then requires another 2-hour wait to reconnect. Such a level of service is completely unsatisfactory. As a result, I have made the decision to relocate my entire family's medical care away from this practice.

Quick help for my urgent pain
As of 30/10/25, I'm surprised by the numerous critical comments about anima! Initially, it took some adjustment, but now it's significantly more convenient than traditional phone methods, and even phone communication has become straightforward with the callback option. I've consistently found the personnel to be courteous and supportive. I've been utilizing this medical practice's services since registering approximately 12 years ago. I've navigated through various appointment booking systems, including e-consult and more recently Anime and the NHS app. While these technologies seemed intimidating at first, they've proven to be incredibly time-efficient, and I've never encountered difficulties securing an appointment. Once again today, when I urgently needed pain relief, the surgery staff were exceptional in addressing my needs. My sincere appreciation goes to Brookside Surgery and their dedicated team.

Frustrating service after decades of loyalty
Been a loyal patient for four decades, but today I'm switching providers. The front desk staff are incredibly discourteous. Their appointment scheduling process is completely dysfunctional, with wait times exceeding a week. They're consistently eager to redirect patients to 111 or local pharmacies instead of providing actual medical consultations. In the past six months, I've been repeatedly fobbed off and told to use anima. My recommendation would be to completely overhaul their reception team, hiring staff with basic intelligence and compassion. Additionally, they desperately need to improve their fundamental appointment management - a seemingly simple task they somehow cannot execute competently.

Running out of crucial medication soon
I'm thoroughly disheartened by the medical practice's current approach. When I attempted to request a refill of my previous prescription, I was informed that a review cannot occur until next Monday. The most frustrating aspect is that I was initially provided with only a week's worth of medication, leaving me in a precarious position without my necessary treatment until someone addresses my request. I'm fully aware that the staff are overwhelmed and scheduling can be challenging, but this situation seems entirely preventable. The emotional strain of requiring medication is compounded by the need to constantly follow up and potentially go without essential treatment due to administrative delays. Despite my best efforts to remain understanding and patient, I cannot help but feel profoundly disappointed by the clinic's lack of responsiveness and apparent indifference to patient needs.

Impossible to book before my morning shift
The appointment booking process is incredibly frustrating, limited exclusively to an online platform that operates from 7am but abruptly shuts down based on daily request volume. When attempting to schedule during my morning commute, I consistently find the system has already reached capacity before I can complete my request. The service is essentially unreachable, with an overly complicated and time-consuming procedure that makes securing an appointment seemingly impossible.

A compassionate doctor who truly listens
Dr Subramanian stands out as a truly exceptional healthcare professional. His approach is remarkably considerate, and he genuinely pays attention to patients' issues, taking the necessary time to comprehend individual needs, even amidst the demanding NHS environment. Having such a compassionate and attentive doctor at this practice is an absolute blessing. Gratitude.

Found my go-to healthcare team in brookside
I switched to Brookside surgery following multiple unsatisfactory encounters at a previous medical practice... Brookside has been exceptional thus far, with incredibly supportive front desk staff, and outstanding doctors, nurses, and their paramedic. I'm thrilled to have finally discovered a genuinely excellent healthcare provider! My sincere appreciation to their team.

Alison's help with our gp confusion
Kudos to Alison at reception for her exceptional support during a perplexing situation with my parents' GP consultation. I'm rating this four out of five stars because the GP communication was unclear and the NHS app lacks the necessary documentation. Despite the challenges, it seems everyone is making a genuine effort. Alison was particularly helpful, taking the time to walk me through the details during what must have been a hectic workday. Her patience and assistance are truly appreciated 😀

Frustrating medical mix-up at local surgery
I attempted to access medical information, but I was repeatedly blocked from obtaining details about my son. After weeks of delay, I discovered that nothing had been added to his medical record. Moreover, they mistakenly attached another patient's health records to my son's file, which could have potentially subjected him to unnecessary and inappropriate tests for a newborn, screening for a condition he doesn't even have. When I arrived for an appointment, the medical staff at the surgery were so incompetent that they apologized and told me to return later because they couldn't even administer basic injections. 😂😂

Brookside's impossible mission for a simple script
Sure, every medical practice has its quirks, but Brookside elevates bureaucratic inefficiency to an art form, turning even the most straightforward tasks into a labyrinthine challenge. Obtaining a routine prescription renewal feels like a covert operation that would test the skills of an elite special forces team. The process defies all logic and common sense. Furthermore, like its counterparts, Brookside has fully embraced the virtual healthcare model, which demands an exhausting array of documentation: endless ID verification, residential proof, reliable mobile connectivity, a flood of pre-composed emails, and superhuman levels of forbearance. Seriously, just improve your systems. It shouldn't be this complicated.
