Declining service pushed us away

After dedicating over a decade to this medical practice, I'm deeply disheartened by its deterioration. I strongly advise potential new patients to avoid registering here, as securing an appointment has become incredibly challenging. The practice now mandates seeing a practitioner instead of allowing patients to choose their preferred GP. The online booking platform is completely dysfunctional. My entire family of five will be transferring our healthcare elsewhere. We refuse to be mere numbers on their patient registry, as it's clear they're solely focused on financial gain and no longer prioritize genuine patient care.

Doctors who nearly destroyed my life

The foundational medical principle declares: "My duty is to heal and protect, never to cause harm." Regrettably, Doctors S. and S.'s rigid stance against what they label as 'sick note culture' demonstrated a shocking disregard for my personal health, pushing me to the brink of suicide. Their callous approach and unwillingness to prioritize patient welfare over their own narrow perspectives make this medical practice extremely dangerous. I cannot emphasize enough how strongly I recommend patients avoid this practice.

Booking appointments became a real headache

Over my quarter-century with this medical practice, the quality of service has noticeably deteriorated. Although the staff remain courteous and accommodating, scheduling an appointment has become increasingly challenging. As someone frequently traveling for work, I simply need the ability to call and book a consultation, which is a fundamental requirement under their GP contract. However, they seem almost obstinately opposed to this, instead pushing patients towards their online booking system and creating an unfair disadvantage for those less comfortable with digital platforms. I've even experienced being physically turned away at the reception and instructed to return home to book online. It's crucial to recognize that not every patient desires or can easily navigate online systems.

Booking nightmare with e-consult form

Getting a GP appointment has become a bureaucratic nightmare through their online E-Consult system. I filled out the digital form and received a text for a next-day slot, but it was completely inconvenient due to my being far from Berkshire. When I attempted to reschedule via both online and telephone channels, I was informed that changing the appointment would require re-submitting the entire E-Consult form, with no guarantee of an immediate new slot. The receptionist could only offer me a distant appointment at a surgery outside Lower Earley, scheduled 3.5 weeks later. This process has left me feeling utterly stuck, wasting significant time and creating unnecessary stress for both myself and the reception staff.

Caring doctor helped calm our new parent worries

The medical practice has been exceptional in providing immediate consultations for my infant when we've been anxious. On both occasions, we've consulted with Dr Yousuf, and each time we've been thoroughly comforted regarding our son's health or our worries. Dr Yousuf is warm and genuinely helps alleviate our concerns as new parents. The front desk staff are consistently pleasant and incredibly supportive whenever we've required guidance or an urgent appointment.

Jackie's terrible customer service nightmare

The service was appalling. Jackie, who claims to be a manager, repeatedly told me to "call 111" when I was trying to explain my urgent medical appointment issue. When I attempted to provide more details, she curtly stated she needed to end the call and hung up. 111 confirmed that the surgery should have handled my concern. The entire practice is discourteous and completely unhelpful. They withhold medication pending a doctor's review, but then the doctor never calls back, and Jackie dismisses concerns by saying they're busy. They create these unnecessary complications and then show zero empathy. While their message advises patients not to be rude, Jackie had no problem being extremely unprofessional with me. If I had ignored my appointment and simply claimed to be busy, I'm certain she would have taken punitive action. It's an absolute disgrace. If Jackie genuinely cared about patient care, the best advice would be for her to find a different job that doesn't involve direct public interaction.

These medical professionals are hands down the worst I've encountered. Their level of compassion is nonexistent. One specific male physician was especially terrible and should seriously consider stepping away from practice. Great care after covid frustrations

Oh my goodness! Where to begin, honestly, after enduring a terrible experience for 8 years with another medical practice that not only refused to provide appointments due to prolonged COVID-related issues but also seemed determined to prevent patients from seeing a GP. Their solution? Find a local pharmacist and seek help. This illustrates how dreadful some medical practices can be, with COVID serving as the perfect excuse for their poor service. After moving to Winnersh last December, I diligently researched surgeries in the area and ultimately chose Brookside Surgery. I was amazed to discover a new system in WOKINGHAM called e-consult, which I'd never encountered before. I completed the online form and promptly forgot about it. To my surprise, I received a follow-up call the very next day - could I really be seeing a doctor after not having done so since 2020? My first appointment was impressively efficient. The environment was well-organized, with patients waiting calmly and quietly, without the usual chaotic scramble for appointments. Since then, I've never been disappointed when seeking medical assistance. They're particularly attentive to vulnerable patients, such as calling to check on pregnant women who haven't seen a midwife. The doctors are exceptional in how they guide, support, and follow up with patients. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a responsive and caring medical practice. Truly, I consider myself lucky to be registered here.
