Feedback across this file reveals a practice marked by significant inconsistency in service quality. Reception experience emerges as a dominant concern, with many patients reporting discourteous and unhelpful staff behaviour, lengthy phone wait times, and difficulties securing appointments. Prescription management and communication between the practice and pharmacies present recurring problems, with patients describing lost documents, delayed processing, and organisational failures. Appointment access remains challenging, with waits of one to two weeks commonly reported, and some patients unable to reach the practice by phone. However, several individual staff members receive consistent praise for exceptional professionalism and compassion, suggesting capability exists within the practice to deliver supportive care.
The medical professionals themselves receive mixed assessments. Some doctors are highlighted for their clinical competence and empathetic approach, whilst others are described as rushed or disengaged. A small number of reception staff stand out as genuinely welcoming and supportive, contrasting sharply with broader complaints about the reception experience. This variation indicates that service quality depends significantly on which staff member a patient encounters, rather than reflecting consistent practice-wide standards.
Patients express frustration with the overall organisation and responsiveness of the practice. Issues include conflicting information between different locations, inflexible policies, and apparent gatekeeping of medical consultations based on reception staff assessment rather than clinical need. Several patients report having to seek care elsewhere due to access difficulties, whilst others note the practice is their only local option, leaving them without alternatives despite their concerns.

Wasted Hours for a Missed Hepatitis B Shot
I received my B12 shot approximately a month ago and carefully scheduled a subsequent appointment for my Hepatitis B vaccination four weeks in advance. Despite meticulously planning ahead, I ended up waiting an additional 25 minutes beyond my designated time, only to discover the nurse mistakenly believed I was there for another B12 injection — and worse, my Hepatitis B vaccine hadn't even been arranged. The level of disorganization is truly maddening. After investing so much time and effort into coordinating this appointment, I ultimately departed without obtaining the medical treatment I specifically required!!

Frustrating wait when my husband needed meds
Visited the medical clinic to obtain medication for my disabled spouse, who requires constant care and is currently without his essential prescriptions. Unable to leave him alone, I sought urgent assistance. The receptionist was completely inflexible, refusing to make any accommodation despite my challenging circumstances, and insisted I must wait a full 48-hour period. This experience has definitively convinced me to find a new medical practice located in the same facility.

Samina at reception made my day
I've been receiving care at this medical practice for quite some time, and both Dr. Alauddin and Dr. Amara are truly exceptional healthcare professionals. The reception staff are incredibly wonderful, with Samina standing out as an absolute gem who consistently demonstrates extraordinary compassion and helpfulness. She deserves serious recognition for her outstanding customer service - in my experience with many medical offices, I've rarely encountered a receptionist as remarkable as her!

Rude Receptionist Ruined My Day
Terrible Encounter I've never experienced such abysmal customer service in my life. The front desk staff member is incredibly rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Her demeanor is cold and disrespectful, completely lacking any sense of compassion or willingness to assist.

Frustrating and Unreliable Healthcare Experience
Every aspect of their service seems dysfunctional. I've repeatedly been refused appointments and necessary medical care. When I actually secure an appointment, the staff member answering the phone consistently sounds annoyed and impatient. Prescription processing is perpetually problematic, with constant delays and complications. It's baffling why they can't simply transmit prescriptions electronically like modern healthcare providers.

Endless Prescription Pickup Frustrations
Every time I reach out for assistance, I encounter nothing but obstacles. I'm constantly redirected or told to try again later, unless I become forceful in my communication. The process of obtaining a prescription is equally challenging - you're required to collect the form yourself and take it to the pharmacy located on the ground floor, only to be informed that the medication needs to be ordered. Subsequently, I've had to make repeated trips because they never bother to alert me when the prescription arrives, which is incredibly exasperating, especially considering I don't reside nearby and have a demanding schedule. Regrettably, this is the sole medical practice in my area, otherwise I would have changed providers long ago.

Unhelpful Reception Staff Blocked My Questions
My interaction with the reception staff was extremely frustrating. A particular female staff member became unnecessarily difficult when I attempted to obtain information about my daughter and wife. Whenever I provided my family name and date of birth, she consistently tried to dodge my inquiries. In contrast, other receptionists readily shared the same information without any hesitation. I attempted to escalate the issue by speaking with the surgery manager, but I was prevented from doing so. I left my contact details and name, hoping for a callback, but have received no response.

Staff at the front desk are completely incompetent and provide zero assistance. They simply redirected me to the pharmacy, who then sent me back to see a doctor, creating a frustrating and circular runaround.

BadHorrible experience with a bad manager a taz who needs to g
Hi having been at your surgery. Dr Nissan was top notch as he really understands me. And was always very good 😊 polite to me as for the manager she gave me a very horrible experience. And doesn’t deserve to be on front desk has no people’s skills in how she delt with me and my support staff my And don’t ever ever talk Lk this to anyone else lk this we pay 💰 your fucking wages. So it owned by the people. Run by the government. Who u benifits from. And as a result of me been being delisted I don’t want anyone else to go through this experience again and u make sure that you get rid of that nasty 🤮 manager on front desk with emmitate effect. And get someone else who has a much better refining voice that people. Want to hear 👂 as coming to the doctor should be a pleasant experience not one people dread 😰 especially when you have a. A disability lk me it needs to be nice 😊 and friendly. Not having rude people who don’t know how to talk 🗣️ or interact with people and maybe 🤔 give them a course on how to talk 🗣️ as it’s a vital role also they are the face of the company so they should be setting a good 😊 example and make sure that a taz manager goes she has a sick 🤢 personality

Frustrated by Cardiff Bay Surgery's Dismissive Receptionist
I reached out to my GP surgery this morning to schedule an appointment. The receptionist interrogated me about the reason for my visit. I explained that I've been experiencing lightheadedness, intense headaches, and elevated blood pressure, which typically accompanies my severe headaches. She offered me an appointment on 1st February 2025, which I rejected since I've already taken time off work due to being unwell for over three weeks. She adamantly refused to provide an alternative appointment, so I stated I would seek medical attention at the Butetown surgery instead. She claimed I couldn't do that, and I insisted I would, ending the call abruptly. I've previously lodged a complaint with the Practice Manager, and I suspect this is why I'm being treated so dismissively. Despite being assured that staff would receive training, it appears they remain indifferent and arbitrarily dismiss patients without legitimate cause. Doctors continue to avoid face-to-face consultations, seeing only a handful of patients daily! How much time could a simple phone consultation possibly consume? Cardiff Bay Surgery is fundamentally dysfunctional and fails to serve the community. Numerous patients are voicing similar grievances, and immediate action is imperative. Why must we navigate through Cambridge Street surgery when Cardiff Bay Surgery also employs a receptionist? It's completely illogical!
