Patient Experience Summary

Feedback across this file reveals a practice marked by significant inconsistency in service quality. Reception experience emerges as a dominant concern, with many patients reporting discourteous and unhelpful staff behaviour, lengthy phone wait times, and difficulties securing appointments. Prescription management and communication between the practice and pharmacies present recurring problems, with patients describing lost documents, delayed processing, and organisational failures. Appointment access remains challenging, with waits of one to two weeks commonly reported, and some patients unable to reach the practice by phone. However, several individual staff members receive consistent praise for exceptional professionalism and compassion, suggesting capability exists within the practice to deliver supportive care.

The medical professionals themselves receive mixed assessments. Some doctors are highlighted for their clinical competence and empathetic approach, whilst others are described as rushed or disengaged. A small number of reception staff stand out as genuinely welcoming and supportive, contrasting sharply with broader complaints about the reception experience. This variation indicates that service quality depends significantly on which staff member a patient encounters, rather than reflecting consistent practice-wide standards.

Patients express frustration with the overall organisation and responsiveness of the practice. Issues include conflicting information between different locations, inflexible policies, and apparent gatekeeping of medical consultations based on reception staff assessment rather than clinical need. Several patients report having to seek care elsewhere due to access difficulties, whilst others note the practice is their only local option, leaving them without alternatives despite their concerns.

Terrible Wait Times and Careless Doctors

🚨🚨🚨🚨I strongly advise everyone to switch their healthcare provider, as these medical professionals are absolutely terrible. Patient well-being seems to be the last thing on their mind, with negligence being their primary approach. Unlike other medical practices that offer prompt appointments, these doctors make you wait 3-4 weeks and then simply prescribe paracetamol. straightforward process to change your medical practice: 1) select your preferred surgery 2) complete the registration form 3) they will request your medical records 4) your new doctor will review your health history and collaborate with you Regards

Terrible care for my kidney and ovarian pain

This surgical experience has been absolutely dreadful. The front desk staff arbitrarily decide the urgency of medical situations, and I've been desperately trying to address my kidney pain (which has since been diagnosed as an ovarian cyst) for seven months without a single consultation. I've received appointment calls 4-5 times, but each interaction merely resulted in being prescribed pain medication. I'm still waiting for a response regarding the scans I was forced to obtain through a private medical facility.

Busy clinic with helpful Gina at front desk

well i visited the medical clinic and scheduled an appointment for blood work, but they misplaced my slip, which should have been in their records. i believe they simply forgot. the staff is pleasant, though quite hectic. i think they can sign in for their appointments. just be patient with them, they might slam doors, but that's not a big deal. i understand the challenges of working as an office helper, like my colleague mrs. gina douglas.

Terrible morning wait and dismissive staff

Extremely dissatisfied with their customer service. I spent a full hour on hold waiting for someone to pick up, and when they finally did, their response was a dismissive apology. They claimed no appointments were available, despite it being early in the day. The staff's attitude was completely unprofessional and unhelpful. I'm genuinely frustrated by their poor treatment and lack of customer care.

Staff never answered the phone

The staff at this medical practice are incredibly discourteous, greeting patients with hostile expressions and displaying zero willingness to assist. Despite instructing patients to call in the morning to schedule appointments, they consistently fail to answer their phone. BUTE TOWN MEDICAL PRACTICE is essentially squandering both public resources and patients' valuable time. Every single member of their reception team deserves to be terminated from their position.

Urgent care failed my sick daughter

I brought my young daughter to the clinic with a severe fever, but they were completely unhelpful about scheduling an appointment. I was forced to go to the emergency room twice because I knew if I called after 8 pm, they wouldn't accommodate us. This is such a drastic change from my previous experiences at SALTMEAD, and I'm incredibly frustrated with the current level of care.

Frustrating Prescription Runaround at My Doctor's Office

I'm thoroughly frustrated with receptionists attempting to act like medical professionals. As someone relying on heart medication, I constantly find myself caught in a frustrating back-and-forth between the pharmacy and the clinic's front desk, arguing about my prescription status and refill timing. It's abundantly clear that effective communication is a skill sorely lacking in the healthcare system.

Heartless Receptionist Made My Worst Day Worse

The front desk staff's demeanor was absolutely terrible. During a moment of intense distress when I was experiencing significant bleeding and terrified about potentially losing my pregnancy, the receptionist treated me as though I was an inconvenience. Her attitude was dismissive, sarcastic, and incredibly unprofessional. I had to repeatedly explain my situation because she was too busy being condescending to listen properly. Fortunately, the doctor responded quickly and arranged a hospital admission. While the doctor's manner was somewhat detached, I can't be certain if this was a direct result of the receptionist's prior antagonistic behavior. Her in-person interaction was just as abrasive as her telephone manner. Tragically, I ultimately lost my baby, and I am resolute that I will never return to this practice again.

Unhelpful Receptionists Made Me Dread Calling

The front desk staff at this location could seriously benefit from training in customer service and empathy. Particularly two specific employees who seem to have been working there for an extended period. While I recognize they may be overwhelmed and stressed, they should still demonstrate some compassion when interacting with individuals who struggle with language barriers or experience anxiety. Their overall demeanor comes across as condescending, indifferent, and discourteous. Whenever I need assistance, I genuinely feel anxious about making contact, as their phone interactions tend to be harsh and unproductive.
