Patient Experience Summary

Feedback across this file reveals a practice facing significant operational challenges, with appointment access and communication emerging as persistent concerns. Patients consistently report difficulties reaching the practice by phone, with lengthy wait times and frequent disconnections, alongside challenges securing appointments through both online and in-person booking methods. Reception experience has been a notable pain point, with some patients describing staff as unresponsive or dismissive, though others have praised friendly and professional interactions. These access difficulties appear to reflect broader staffing constraints, with multiple reviews noting insufficient reception capacity to manage call volumes effectively.

Where patients have successfully accessed clinical care, experiences have been more positive, with many praising the professional competence and compassion of medical staff, including doctors and nurses. Several reviews highlight attentive care, seamless referral processes, and genuine engagement with patient concerns. Online booking systems have received mixed feedback, with some finding the process straightforward and convenient, whilst others report system limitations or unresponsive follow-up after submission. Continuity of care has been raised as an issue by some patients, particularly regarding inconsistent physician availability.

The practice appears to operate under significant resource constraints that impact service delivery. Whilst clinical care quality receives consistent recognition, the gap between appointment availability and patient demand, combined with communication challenges, has created frustration across the patient population. Several reviews acknowledge the broader NHS pressures affecting the practice, though this context does not fully address the specific operational difficulties patients encounter when attempting to access services.

Endless Calls Just to Book an Appointment

Getting an appointment here is an absolute nightmare. You must persistently dial in the morning with zero queuing system. I've already made 31 attempts, and this is my second consecutive day of futile phone calls. This is the most terrible general practice I've ever encountered. I'm genuinely astounded by how incredibly difficult it is to simply connect with my healthcare provider.

Impossible to Schedule, Totally Frustrated

I'd rate them zero stars if possible! Scheduling an appointment is so challenging that calling them a healthcare provider seems laughable. They've recently updated their phone system, making the process even more frustrating than it was before. The entire practice is fundamentally dysfunctional. I'm urgently searching for a different medical office to replace them.

Morning Dental Care with Dr. Deepa

During my recent dental appointment at the NHS clinic, Dr. Deepa and her colleague Jansi left me completely satisfied. Their professionalism and meticulous approach were evident throughout my visit. They demonstrated exceptional attention to detail by requesting a follow-up X-ray to guarantee precise diagnostics. The clinic's environment was immaculately clean, reflecting their commitment to superior hygiene. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Deepa and Jansi's exceptional patient care and expertise. A heartfelt acknowledgment goes to Yuova Hill for facilitating such an outstanding healthcare experience!

Tried Calling 50 Times, Got Nowhere

My encounter with Charlotte Keel Medical Practice was an absolute nightmare. Attempting to book an appointment was an exercise in futility - I made over 50 call attempts, but with only a single staff member managing incoming calls, I was constantly left waiting and my messages went unanswered. It's painfully obvious that this practice is critically under-resourced, which is glaringly evident in their complete inability to maintain proper communication channels. After an exhausting struggle to finally secure an appointment, I was confronted by physicians who appeared totally disengaged and indifferent to my medical concerns. Their profound lack of empathy made me feel like an inconsequential, disposable patient rather than a person seeking genuine healthcare. Considering the glaring deficiencies in both their operational infrastructure and patient care quality, it's abundantly clear that Charlotte Keel Medical Practice desperately requires substantial overhaul - or better yet, should simply cease operations. My unequivocal recommendation is to avoid this facility at all costs and seek medical attention elsewhere.

Long Wait, Single Staff Member at Clinic

I attempted to contact them by phone, and after an hour of waiting, I was unsuccessful. So I decided to visit in person, only to be stunned by the overwhelming situation: a single employee handling an enormous queue of 30-40 people. Just ONE STAFF MEMBER managing everything! The management deserves criticism for not prioritizing their employees' welfare. It's no surprise their staff keeps quitting. This facility desperately requires additional resources. If you're a patient here, you'd better hope you don't fall ill

Pneumonia After Dismissive Doctor Visit

I spent the entire day attempting to contact the clinic, with no success until I finally reached someone about my persistent cough and four-day hiccup episode. Their initial response was dismissive, asking, "What do you want us to do?" yet somehow I secured an appointment that same day. The encounter with 'Dr T' was arguably the most disappointing medical interaction I've ever experienced. She was completely uninterested in my concerns, abruptly telling me to stop talking while monitoring my vitals. Upon discovering my oxygen level was at 87%, she reluctantly rechecked it on another finger, instructing me to breathe deeply until it reached around 93%. Her commentary about my medical history was coldly delivered, feeling more like a perfunctory statement than genuine concern. Then, she hastily ushered me out. My subsequent visit to RUH A&E confirmed I had Pneumonia, requiring immediate antibiotic treatment. As a result, I've definitively decided to switch healthcare providers - I will absolutely not return to this practice. While I acknowledge many staff members are well-intentioned and understand they're operating under significant staffing constraints, this experience represented a clear demonstration of professional negligence. Improvement is desperately needed.

Frustrating morning at the GP desk

I've been struggling to get a GP appointment for months, with only two phone calls made. When I tried to secure an appointment, I was brushed off at the reception desk yesterday morning at 8:45am by the same person who previously scheduled me with a nurse instead of a doctor. I absolutely refuse to discuss my health with the receptionist, and there's no privacy whatsoever. I'll attempt one more time, and if unsuccessful, I'll demand my medical records and insist the NHS destroy their copy. The service is completely unacceptable. After failing to get an appointment, I told reception "forget it". Despite this, I received a text for a non-urgent doctor's appointment in 4 weeks. I visited and submitted a letter stating my refusal to use the NHS until their administration improves - which I know won't happen. It's like Soviet-era healthcare. Update 04/04/2024: I've been trying to obtain my medical records but have been lied to on both occasions. This morning, I went to the clinic to stop doctor's calls and personally explain my desire to be removed from NHS involvement. The receptionist said I needed to complete a form, which I did immediately. I'll post the result once I receive it.

Absolutely dreadful customer service. Attempted to obtain an essential asthma inhaler and was offered an appointment a week later. Terrible healthcare with zero patient support

This facility absolutely deserves to be closed down. Getting in touch via telephone is completely futile, and it's painfully obvious they lack both resources and genuine concern - it's shameful. Long Wait, No Help at This Surgery

This medical practice is absolutely the most incompetent facility I've ever encountered! From the beginning, their phone handling seems like it's being done by inexperienced kids who CONSISTENTLY fail to pick up calls and consistently mess up every single interaction. Whenever I miraculously manage to speak with someone, they either send prescriptions to the incorrect pharmacy or record patient details inaccurately. The UNACCEPTABLE waiting times are horrendous, and it's practically impossible to even establish contact with their office!

Impossible to Get an Appointment Anywhere

Getting an appointment with this practice is an absolute nightmare. I've been attempting to schedule a visit for nearly a month, but their phone line is perpetually engaged. When I physically went to the GP's office, I encountered massive queues and only a single staff member handling everything. Even while standing inside the practice, I tried calling them, and their phone remained inexplicably busy. I'm convinced they're deliberately avoiding calls. Their service is abysmal and completely unacceptable. I urgently need to switch to a different GP before my health deteriorates, and they offer nothing more than a dismissive "sorry" when it becomes too late to address my symptoms.
