Patient feedback reveals significant operational challenges alongside pockets of clinical excellence. Medical staff consistently receive praise for compassion, professionalism, and attentive care, with several patients highlighting exceptional support during urgent situations and complex health needs. However, this positive clinical experience is substantially undermined by severe access and communication difficulties. Appointment booking has emerged as a critical pain point, with patients reporting persistent telephone queues, system disconnections, and lengthy waits to reach reception. The online booking platform is frequently described as ineffective or unavailable, forcing patients into protracted phone-based processes. Long telephone wait times, sometimes exceeding 30 minutes or more, are reported across multiple reviews, alongside complaints about automated systems that disconnect callers when lines are full rather than offering queue options.
Following the practice merger, service deterioration has been particularly noted, with patients reporting reduced physician availability, loss of continuity of care, and diminished reception responsiveness. Additional concerns include prescription processing delays, reception confidentiality issues where private medical information is discussed in public areas, and frustration with the triage process. While some patients report positive recent experiences and acknowledge staff efforts under resource constraints, the overwhelming pattern indicates systemic booking and communication failures that create significant barriers to accessing care, particularly for vulnerable populations and those with urgent needs.

Bad!
Terrible merger destroys once great medical practice
What has become of the previously outstanding medical service at Tennyson House following its amalgamation with additional practices to form the Chelmer Medical Partnership? The physician count has drastically reduced from six to merely three. The absence of Doctors Stead, Roberts, and Quadratullah is conspicuous, and the practice manager's unresponsiveness to inquiries is deeply frustrating.

Great!
Decent care but frustrating booking system now
I've been receiving care at this medical practice for an extended period. The healthcare professionals are top-notch and highly competent. Unfortunately, they've eliminated the online appointment scheduling, which has resulted in longer phone wait times to reach a receptionist. While this isn't a significant issue for my wife and me since we're retired, I can't help but worry about how challenging this would be for working individuals trying to manage their healthcare appointments.

Frustrating wait times make booking appointments difficult
The phone wait times at this surgical center are excessively lengthy compared to other medical facilities. They really need to address this issue and improve their patient communication responsiveness. Scheduling an appointment by phone is incredibly challenging and requires dedicating an unreasonable amount of time just to book a simple consultation.

Unprofessional doctor jeopardizes patient's mental health care
I was assisting someone from the Linden centre who needed help managing medication due to mental health challenges, so I helped her set up an online pharmacy service. However, tonight, Dr. Quadullah berated the patient for using this ordering method, which was completely inappropriate. His unprofessional and harsh approach has now discouraged her from taking her necessary medication. To make matters worse, prescriptions are frequently getting misplaced, adding further stress to an already difficult situation.

Terrible service and unprofessional medical staff
The staff at the front desk are incredibly discourteous. I would absolutely advise against anyone considering this surgical procedure.

Poor!
Terrible receptionists ruin an otherwise good practice
The medical professionals here are excellent, but the front desk staff are completely incompetent. I consistently struggle to schedule appointments and can never reach anyone by phone to book a consultation. Despite being a long-standing patient for a quarter-century, I've watched this practice steadily deteriorate in its quality of service.

Compassionate care at tennyson house medical practice
After relocating to this region just over twelve months ago, I harbored concerns about finding a new healthcare provider. My father-in-law's experience with Dr Radford's team during his mouth cancer treatment ultimately guided me to Tennyson House. The reception staff were incredibly supportive and went above and beyond my expectations. Dr Taylor, who became my assigned physician, has been exceptional in helping me investigate and understand various medical issues, demonstrating remarkable professionalism and meticulous attention to detail. I am genuinely grateful to Tennyson House for ensuring such a seamless and reassuring transition to their medical practice.

Poor!
Endless wait for simple medical assistance frustrates patient
The doctors and front desk personnel are fairly pleasant, but good grief, as I'm writing this, I've been first in the queue for approximately 15 minutes on the phone, and altogether I've been waiting for close to 30 minutes. Waiting 30 MINUTES just to talk to someone is absolutely ridiculous!!!

Terrible phone service leaves patients frustrated and helpless
I'm completely baffled by how this medical practice is handling their communication. Their phone system is utterly dysfunctional. You're presented with two limited options: book an appointment or get test results during a narrow time window. I was trying to assist my elderly mother, a patient with memory issues, who was turned away at 8am and told to call instead. When she attempted to phone, she encountered a recorded message stating the call queue was full. Since 9:30 this morning, I've been attempting to reach Tennyson House Surgery, consistently hearing the same unhelpful message about the queue being full. What happened to their professional responsibility and patient care? Where are all their staff? I'm genuinely concerned about what would occur during a genuine medical emergency. I'm skeptical anyone will even read or respond to this complaint, given their apparent inability to manage basic patient communications. As a result, I'll be formally reporting this unacceptable situation to the Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England. Tennyson House should be thoroughly embarrassed by their current operational standards.

Exceptional healthcare with decades of trusted service
Throughout my four-decade relationship with this medical facility, I've consistently been impressed by the exceptional quality of both the administrative staff and physicians. The practice truly stands as a model of excellence. I cannot adequately express my deep appreciation for their remarkable service. Sincere gratitude to Francesca Harrington.

Caring doctors doing their best with limited resources
The medical staff demonstrate genuine compassion. Despite operating with constrained resources and strict limitations, they put in tremendous effort. The front desk personnel are exceptionally supportive. They manage this even while serving more patients than their designated area typically covers. Telephone access can be challenging at times. However, the staff remain consistently courteous and professional. Chelmsford is experiencing a significant shortage of medical practices. Existing surgeries are overwhelmingly overcrowded. Residents frequently must travel considerable distances just to register with a practice that is already struggling with patient volume. As the city continues to expand rapidly, with new housing developments constantly emerging, there seems to be no corresponding increase in medical facilities. One would assume the National Health Service is cognizant of this issue and will eventually take corrective action.

Nightmare scheduling with zero customer service help
Relocated to the surgical department about 12 months back and opted for a procedure here. I can confidently state that attempting to communicate with their scheduling staff or reach someone on the phone is incredibly frustrating—it's comparable to attempting the impossible. The communication process is utterly abysmal.

Compassionate care from overworked local medical team
Tennyson house serves as my primary medical practice, and I've been a patient here for quite some time. The medical staff are truly exceptional, demonstrating genuine compassion and providing outstanding support. I've experienced several urgent situations where they've gone above and beyond, even accommodating me just moments before their official closing time. My sole criticism is that while the physicians are incredibly skilled and dedicated, they are visibly overwhelmed and operating under significant pressure. It's evident that they would benefit from additional personnel to reduce patient wait times and alleviate their current workload.

Terrible service with impossible appointment cancellation
Attempted to cancel my scheduled slot four times today, but each call resulted in an automated message about a full queue, immediately disconnecting me. Completely pointless appointment now. Such disrespectful service - what if this wasn't just about scheduling, but something more urgent?

Compassionate care during a difficult family time
The medical professionals and front desk team were incredibly supportive during my mother's health challenges. They consistently provided home consultations and medication prescriptions whenever required, making a difficult time much more manageable.
