Urgent appointments hard to access here

It has been difficult to secure an appointment despite indicating that the matter requires prompt attention. The standard response appears to be a suggestion to consult with the pharmacy instead. This has been particularly unsettling given that I have recently relocated to the area, and I was accustomed to a previous practice that assessed cases based on their level of urgency.

Nurse was helpful, doctor made things worse

Absolutely unhelpful and ineffective in providing any meaningful support. This clinician seemed dismissive and unwilling to listen, which significantly worsened my situation and wellbeing. I would not recommend this service to anyone seeking genuine help or improvement. In contrast, the nursing staff member was excellent and provided outstanding care throughout.

Reception staff made me feel genuinely reassured

Visited today and found the receptionist to be absolutely delightful, reassuring and very supportive. The clinician I spoke with was brief but engaging, interested and helpful throughout. I've now registered with the practice and I'm very satisfied with my decision. There's nothing I would criticise about my experience. The Google Maps image of the building doesn't do it justice at all. I intend to take a photograph soon and submit it to give a more accurate representation. The staff demonstrate a proactive, cheerful and helpful approach. A member of the nursing team I encountered near reception was pleasant and courteous. All of this suggests they genuinely care about their patients and take a patient-centred approach, which is excellent. If you're seeking a good GP practice in Sunderland, I'd recommend registering with them. It's definitely worth considering.

Felt dismissed with generic paracetamol advice

Pain relief medication for everything... There appears to be no distinction made between different conditions such as throat infections, inflamed tonsils, headaches, skin irritations, fever and so on. The standard advice seems to be pain relief and anti-inflammatory tablets every 6 hours for varying durations, with the expectation that symptoms will resolve :) though this approach can leave your digestive system struggling afterwards. Obtaining a referral to see a specialist appears unlikely. The approach taken suggests comprehensive knowledge and confidence in managing all presentations independently. Additionally, there seems to be a view that specialist input is unnecessary, particularly when you are younger and not currently experiencing symptoms 🙂 😊 😉

Staff went the extra mile with repeat prescriptions

Every member of the team at this practice works hard to deliver the best possible care. Recently, a staff member contacted me to schedule a follow-up appointment and, after hearing about the challenges I was facing with accessing the surgery to submit my repeat medication request, they took the time to help me find alternative ways to order my medicine that work better for my circumstances. They really do go above and beyond.

Impossible to reach by phone for appointments

It is extremely difficult to secure an appointment at this practice. The phone lines are consistently busy and appear to be understaffed, making it a frustrating experience when trying to reach someone for a booking.
