Patients consistently report significant challenges accessing appointments at this practice, with unresponsive phone lines and lengthy waiting times creating barriers to care. Reception staff conduct and courtesy emerge as a persistent concern across the feedback, with many describing dismissive, discourteous, and unprofessional interactions. Appointment booking processes are frequently cited as difficult and inefficient, whether through phone contact or in-person visits, with patients experiencing extended hold times and failed callback requests.
While some patients acknowledge that clinical staff demonstrate competence and compassion, these positive experiences with individual doctors and supportive reception team members are substantially outweighed by widespread reports of poor communication, inadequate follow-up care, and lack of responsiveness to patient needs. Issues with digital systems, medication refills, and service coordination further compound access difficulties. A small number of recent reviews highlight exceptional care from specific staff members, suggesting that service quality varies considerably depending on individual interactions.
The practice appears to struggle with fundamental operational efficiency and patient-centred service delivery. Systemic issues around appointment availability, phone responsiveness, and reception experience require urgent attention to improve patient confidence in the service and ensure equitable access to care.

Rude receptionist ruined my father's medical appointment
The receptionist failed to provide any assistance or find a solution, which was extremely frustrating. The center's organization appears completely indifferent and unprofessional. Two days prior, I called to schedule an appointment for my elderly father who has cardiac issues and limited English skills. They instructed me to come in person to book the appointment. Upon arriving, I explained my situation to the young Black receptionist, who rudely told me to take my father directly to the hospital if he has heart problems. When I emphasized that my father doesn't understand English, he dismissively stated, "That's not my problem," with an incredibly disrespectful attitude. I was simply trying to secure a prompt and early appointment, but the entire experience was horrible. My 65-year-old father tried to calm me down, saying, "Don't worry, let's go." The staff desperately needs to be more professional and courteous. Especially during this COVID situation, one would expect more compassion and care, but instead, it seems like they're doing you a favor. Completely unacceptable service.

Terrible service and rude staff at barking centre
I want to share my recent unsatisfactory encounter at Child & Family Centre Barking. While I recognize the covid-related restriction of one accompanying adult during child vaccinations, I find it unreasonable that the other parent is forced to wait outdoors in harsh, inclement conditions. This practice potentially risks parents' health and could subsequently expose children to illness. Given that appointments are scheduled, there seems no valid reason why an additional parent cannot utilize an indoor waiting area. Furthermore, I must highlight the unprofessional conduct of the ground floor receptionist. She was extremely hostile, threatening to involve law enforcement and remove me from the premises. Her justification of covid protocols rang hollow, as she herself was not wearing a mask while interacting with visitors. Her approach was confrontational and inappropriate, especially when dealing with concerned parents. This interaction caused me significant emotional distress. I sincerely hope these issues will be thoroughly investigated and addressed. I have already informed the relevant NHS governance authorities about this unacceptable experience.

Terrible gp service with unhelpful staff
These general practitioner services are absolutely abysmal, with staff who show zero commitment to their professional responsibilities. I spent an unbelievable one hour and thirty-two minutes attempting to book an appointment, only to be instructed to call back the next morning at 8am. When I highlighted their consistent failure to answer calls, I dialed precisely at 8am from my landline and requested a callback, which never materialized. Now, after another hour and a half of frustration, they're still telling me to call back tomorrow, with the receptionist suggesting I physically come in to schedule a Monday appointment. This is completely unacceptable - what if I have COVID, and can I really afford to wait from Thursday until Monday? I'm asthmatic with a chest infection, and sometimes I can barely breathe. This is a recurring nightmare - every single time I'm forced to wait over an hour just to have someone pick up the phone. I genuinely wish I could give them zero stars for their appalling customer service, especially the receptionist.

Worst medical service ever avoid at all costs
Completely unacceptable! I've been struggling to schedule an appointment for days after receiving a message requesting me to book one for reviewing my test results, which is utterly frustrating. The staff are equally terrible, they even reduced my mother to tears by verbally attacking her on one occasion, which is completely outrageous. 👎🏽👎🏽 Absolutely appalling

Terrible service that left me frustrated and crying
Scheduling an appointment here is an absolute nightmare. The staff instructs you to either wait in line early or telephone, and I've made numerous attempts to contact them. When I request a callback within 60 minutes, I mysteriously receive calls from suspicious numbers - this has occurred three separate times. The personnel are extremely hostile, and I was so frustrated and overwhelmed that I ended up crying because I'm completely lost about how to secure medical appointments for my children.

Frustrating appointments and poor customer service experience
Booking appointments has become an incredibly challenging process, even with the shift towards telephone consultations. The callback mechanism is fundamentally broken, with staff frequently failing to respond, leaving patients with no choice but to wait on hold indefinitely to actually connect with someone. The automated messaging system feels entirely inappropriate, with American-style recordings that seem out of place in a UK healthcare setting. This impersonal approach raises suspicions about potential privatization. While I understand the immense pressures currently facing healthcare services and GP practices, the dramatic decline in patient care and service quality is deeply concerning. The experience has become so frustrating that I cannot, in good conscience, suggest anyone should register with this medical practice.

Worst medical practice ever terrible service
This establishment is absolutely dreadful. The employees demonstrate extreme discourtesy and lack of professionalism. The management is equally terrible. For several days, I've been repeatedly promised "the manager will contact you immediately" and instructed to vacate the premises to "await the call". Predictably, no communication ever occurs. Scheduled consultations are arbitrarily terminated without any prior warning. I persistently telephone starting at 8 am, waiting endlessly in the queue to secure an appointment, yet consistently encounter complete unresponsiveness. The entire situation is utterly absurd.

Friendly pediatric staff saves the day
my older child's pediatric doctor's office is incredibly supportive and the front desk team is genuinely kind and accommodating. I was waiting on a prescription but needed to rush out for another medical appointment, and the reception staff reassured me they would inform the doctor and keep the prescription ready for me to collect later. Unlike some medical receptionists who can be intrusive, these staff members were wonderfully understanding and helpful - it's truly a refreshing experience

Terrible service and disrespectful healthcare experience
Personnel demonstrate a clear lack of competence Telephone inquiries go consistently unanswered Internal and external communication is severely lacking Reception area layout seems poorly designed with obstructive chair arrangements instead of transparent, welcoming partitions Phone consultations are rushed and inadequate, despite dealing with critical health matters Medical care feels impersonal and generic I've observed staff displaying disrespectful behaviors towards each other, with an obvious and inappropriate power dynamic that should remain behind the scenes Fundamentally unprofessional

Terrible service with racist undertones and poor communication
I would assign this GP a rating well below zero if possible. They show absolutely no concern for patients' well-being. Even if you're on the brink of death, they remain indifferent. Attempting to schedule an appointment means enduring endless phone waiting times - one hour, two hours, with no response. When they occasionally answer, they simply state all booking slots are full, instructing you to call back the next morning at 8:00 am. Upon calling at the specified time, you're once again left on hold for hours, eventually becoming frustrated or having the call disconnected. This is their current modus operandi. I must highlight that in the Barking area, with its diverse population of Asian, African, and European residents, there seems to be clear discrimination. In contrast, if you were in a predominantly English area, you would experience significantly superior service - not just good, but exceptional for English people.

Terrible service ruined by unprofessional front desk staff
Every interaction with the front desk staff has been consistently unpleasant. Their attitude is extremely discourteous and unprofessional. I'm perplexed about their hiring criteria, as their conduct is unacceptable. The medical professionals themselves are not an issue for me. Is there any recourse I can pursue to address this situation?

Terrible healthcare experience with disrespectful medical staff
Absolutely terrible! The service is continuously deteriorating. Previously, the front desk staff were rude, and now even the doctors have followed suit. A female doctor was shouting at my wife while she attempted to describe her medical issue, which only escalated her anxiety instead of providing comfort. The doctor wasn't even willing to listen to the patient's concerns. Completely unprofessional! There are always signs emphasizing respect for NHS staff, and while the staff claim to be committed to this, they fail to extend the same courtesy when interacting with patients. They need to practice what they preach!

Terrible reception ruins great medical practice
Absolutely the most terrible general practice clinic. While the physicians are competent, the front desk staff are completely incompetent. They consistently fail to answer phone calls, making it impossible to schedule an appointment. I've been attempting to book a consultation by calling every morning, but my efforts have been futile.

Worst gp service ever with zero communication
Worst GP imaginable, barely deserving of the title! I've been attempting to secure an appointment for a week. The reception remains unresponsive, with no one answering the phone despite my daily calls over five days. I decided to visit in person and book directly. Before entering, I tried calling again, as only two receptionists were present at the front desk, engaged in conversation. Incredibly, they ignored the ringing phone while sitting right there. Upon entering, I inquired about potential phone issues and was dismissively told they were "busy" - despite an empty waiting area. I eventually booked an appointment for a week later. When the GP called, the call quality was abysmal, and their accent was so thick that I couldn't comprehend a single word. I requested a callback with better network coverage, but no such call materialized. Now, I'm entering my second week of futile attempts to reach reception and schedule another consultation for medication. Once again, no one is picking up. This is absolutely disgraceful and represents a textbook example of how NOT to operate a medical facility. I am committed to reporting this GP to the appropriate authorities and ombudsman, hoping they will be thoroughly investigated and ultimately shut down.
