Patient feedback reflects a mixed experience across the practice. Medical care quality receives consistent praise, with doctors and clinical staff frequently described as professional, compassionate, and attentive. However, significant operational challenges dominate negative feedback. Appointment access emerges as the most pressing concern, with patients reporting lengthy phone waits, inability to book in advance, and difficulty securing same-day slots despite claims of availability. Communication issues are widespread, including missed prescription notifications, delayed callbacks, and lack of proactive follow-up after diagnostic procedures. Reception experience is polarised: some patients report courteous and supportive staff, whilst others describe unhelpful, dismissive, or disrespectful interactions. Phone system functionality and online booking platforms present recurring obstacles, with patients describing perpetual unavailability and complex processes.
Post-operative care and prescription management have generated specific complaints, including inadequate follow-up and lost or delayed medications. Several patients note the practice has deteriorated over time, with staffing changes affecting service consistency. Positive experiences highlight efficient booking when systems work, warm practice environment, and responsive clinical teams. The feedback suggests the practice delivers quality medical care but struggles with accessibility, administrative efficiency, and consistent communication across all patient touchpoints.

Dangerous covid protocol puts immunocompromised patient at risk
As a vulnerable patient post-transplant, I was denied local blood tests and redirected to a hospital phlebotomy department during COVID lockdown. I found myself, an immunocompromised person, trapped in a confined, poorly ventilated space alongside approximately 60 other individuals. This experience was utterly unacceptable.

Horrible healthcare experience with dismissive staff
The staff here are incredibly unprofessional. A non-medical employee had the audacity to challenge my diagnoses, claiming she's frustrated with the medical team's judgments. The interaction was condescending, utterly useless, and so distressing that I left the clinic in floods of tears due to their appalling treatment. I'm astounded that individuals like this are allowed to work in healthcare. I've considered filing a formal complaint, but I'm convinced it would be completely ignored and result in absolutely no meaningful action.

Wet and waiting but staff still shine bright
Standing outdoors during rainfall isn't comfortable or practical. The facility might want to consider expanding their shelter coverage if these current protocols are going to persist. Despite the external setup, the medical staff—physicians and nurses alike—demonstrate remarkable professionalism. I've been associated with this medical practice since its location on Church Road back in the 1960s, and throughout those years, I've consistently experienced top-notch healthcare.

Frustrating health service with little patient support
Truly frustrating to the point of being ridiculous. I called at 8am hoping to speak with someone about my ongoing vertigo that's prevented me from working for over a week. With the surgery closing in just 90 minutes, I've yet to receive a callback, which means I'll likely have to repeat this entire process tomorrow. This experience is depressingly typical - calling early morning gives you barely a 50% chance of getting any meaningful help, or you're looking at a month-long wait to be seen. The result? I end up going to A&E instead, where I actually get some attention. The only saving grace is the receptionists, who genuinely work hard. Every other aspect of this medical practice is disappointingly subpar, which is why they're barely scraping a single star rating.

Terrible booking system ruins potential great healthcare experience
The surgical procedure and medical team were excellent, with staff demonstrating remarkable warmth and professionalism. However, their appointment scheduling process is completely unacceptable. The inability to book check-up appointments in advance creates significant barriers to receiving timely medical care. As someone who rarely seeks medical attention, I find it incredibly frustrating that when I actually need to see a physician, the booking system prevents me from securing a consultation. The current approach essentially ensures that patients like myself will struggle to get the medical attention we require, which is deeply disappointing and inconvenient.

Bad!
Disappointing medical care with poor communication
The medical care here falls short of expectations, and I strongly advise seeking an alternative healthcare provider if possible. There's a notable lack of proactive communication from the general practitioners following diagnostic procedures like tests, x-rays, and scans. Patients are consistently left in the position of having to initiate follow-up and pursue their own medical information.

Terrible service except for the amazing midwife
Scheduling an appointment is nearly impossible. Phone wait times are endless. The brief doctor consultations feel rushed and disengaged, with every ailment seemingly dismissed as a virus. The sole bright spot in this medical practice is the exceptional midwife, who genuinely stands out and provides top-notch care.

Nhs nightmare a desperate parents heartbreaking struggle
The current state of the NHS is absolutely ridiculous. My nine-year-old son, who has a history of ear infections, has been suffering in pain since Boxing Day. I attempted to schedule a doctor's appointment to examine his ear and ensure it wasn't serious. This stems from a previous incident where the doctor refused to see us and only offered a repeat prescription. Consequently, we left, and his ear condition worsened. I eventually took him to a proper doctor who confirmed it was infected and the previous prescription was useless. Now we're facing the same situation again, with the NHS only offering a phone diagnosis, which is completely pointless. Ironically, I live just two minutes from the doctor's office, and the phone consultation lasted seven minutes - it would have been quicker for the doctor to physically check his ear and provide an accurate diagnosis. I'm now sitting at the Cumberland centre, hoping for a positive outcome. I'll just say I've experienced faster medical care in third-world countries compared to the Church View surgery.

Terrible healthcare that fails patients completely
Truly the most subpar medical practice in Plymouth. Medication orders consistently arrive late or vanish entirely. It's utterly futile attempting to schedule an appointment with their office.

Debbie saves the day amid receptionist nightmare
Debbie at the front desk is absolutely phenomenal, especially when compared to her unfriendly and cold coworker. Not recommended for anyone prone to stress, as the negative interaction left a lasting impact on my mental state. Pro advice: have your NHS number memorized before arriving!!!!

Frustrating and inefficient healthcare booking nightmare
Getting an appointment here is an incredibly frustrating experience. The queue is excruciatingly slow, and even after waiting, there are no available slots on the day. You can't pre-book for the next day or any future date. Instead, you're forced to call back after 8am the following morning, with no guarantee of securing an appointment. This approach represents a terrible standard of service for what should be a straightforward healthcare access process. While I'm not a frequent patient, when I do need medical attention, this system makes it needlessly complicated and stressful.

Disappointing healthcare with poor communication and service
Lack of engagement from supposed healthcare experts. Physicians fail to provide timely updates following diagnostic procedures like tests, x-rays, and scans. Patients are left to initiate follow-ups and pursue information. Scheduling appointments becomes a challenging ordeal due to unhelpful front desk staff, although it's worth noting that some receptionists are indeed cooperative.

Terrible service and communication at this medical practice
To tell the truth, this medical practice has consistently fallen short of expectations. The situation has only deteriorated recently. Attempting to reach them by telephone is an incredibly time-consuming ordeal, with the constant risk of being disconnected during the interminable wait. The reception staff are pleasant when contact is finally established, though one claimed to have attempted a callback during a momentary signal loss, which my phone log did not corroborate. A physician eventually contacted me a day late, leaving a message on my landline without making any effort to reach me on my mobile - an oversight that defies logic and represents substandard care. Ultimately, I was compelled to visit the reception desk in person to resolve the issue. I will be transferring to another surgery and strongly recommend against registering with this one.

Poor!
Disappointing decline of once great medical practice
I've been a patient at this medical practice since its inception, and while it was once outstanding, it has significantly deteriorated. Physicians are departing in droves, leaving the remaining staff overwhelmed. The competent front desk personnel have mostly left; there are some pleasant new staff, but a few still act as if they're medical professionals themselves. Scheduling an appointment has become incredibly challenging. The recently implemented system, which has been in place for some time, offers no improvement. When you do manage to secure an appointment, it's uncommon to see an actual doctor - instead, you're typically seen by a paramedic or nurse practitioner, who then proceeds to refer you to a doctor!
