Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a deeply polarised experience with significant inconsistency across service areas. The medical team consistently receives praise for compassion, clinical competence, and supportive care, with patients frequently highlighting prompt consultations and effective treatment. However, reception experience presents a stark contrast, with widespread complaints about dismissive communication, rudeness, and lack of courtesy during phone and in-person interactions. Appointment access remains a critical issue, with patients reporting difficulty securing timely slots, misleading walk-in centre claims, and administrative failures in booking systems and callback promises. Several reviews highlight concerning gaps between service quality and patient expectations, particularly around responsiveness to inquiries, communication clarity, and follow-up care. While some patients describe efficient, welcoming experiences with minimal waiting times, others report lengthy delays, unresponsive staff, and organisational confusion that undermines confidence in the service.

The facility's marketing as a walk-in centre appears inconsistent with operational reality, generating frustration among patients seeking urgent care. Communication breakdowns between reception and clinical teams, combined with inconsistent application of policies, suggest underlying organisational challenges. Positive experiences tend to correlate with individual staff members demonstrating initiative and empathy, whereas negative experiences reflect systemic issues around appointment availability, reception courtesy, and administrative coordination. The contrast between the quality of clinical care and the reception experience suggests that service improvements would benefit from focused attention to staff training, communication protocols, and appointment management systems.

Quick and caring medical service

The front desk staff was delightful. My wait time was minimal, just five minutes, before a nurse attended to me. He was extremely courteous, thoroughly explained the necessary steps, and ultimately provided me with the prescription I required.

Bad!

Unprofessional service and misleading doctor swap

I encountered a deeply unsatisfactory experience at this medical facility. I had booked an appointment with a specific gynecologist for a sensitive health concern, but instead was unexpectedly seen by a junior physician occupying the original doctor's consultation room. I was completely unaware of this substitution at the time, and only discovered the switch after returning home. The most frustrating aspect is their absolute lack of responsiveness to my complaint submitted through their official communication channel, with no acknowledgment or explanation provided.

Terrible first experience with local medical practice

Visited this medical practice after relocating, hoping to establish care as a new resident. Despite enduring a lengthy two-hour wait, the brief consultation resulted in no meaningful assistance. The healthcare provider claimed unfamiliarity with my medical background and ultimately offered no support or guidance.

Terrible service from disrespectful nhs reception staff

The front desk staff are extremely unprofessional, consistently addressing patients disrespectfully and attempting to dismiss their concerns. They urgently require comprehensive customer service training, as their current conduct is a poor reflection on the National Health Service's standards.

Terrible service with the rudest receptionists ever

These front desk staff seem to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed today. When interacting with patients over the phone, who are likely already feeling unwell, they display a shocking lack of compassion. It's abundantly clear that these employees desperately require some fundamental customer service and empathy training.

Terrible healthcare that endangers patient safety

Unfortunately, my encounter with this medical facility mirrors the sentiments expressed in numerous other critiques. I've been a long-standing patient here, and despite infrequently requiring their care, every time I do, scheduling an appointment or receiving treatment becomes a challenging experience. I've personally witnessed them offering subpar guidance to at least two separate individuals in the waiting area, situations that could potentially have led to serious medical consequences. The most recent incident involves them removing me from their patient roster while I was actively undergoing treatment—an action that is unquestionably unethical, grossly unprofessional, and fundamentally dangerous. A truly stellar performance (dripping with sarcasm, absolutely not genuine appreciation).

Terrible service, great doctors, time to switch

After being a patient for over a decade, I was unaware of the subpar customer service until I switched healthcare providers and experienced what medical care should truly be like. The doctors and nursing staff have consistently been compassionate, professional, and supportive. However, the reception team appears disengaged and frequently treat patients discourteously, which is unacceptable in a client-facing position. Moreover, there seems to be a significant breakdown in communication between management and medical staff, as the advice provided by doctors often conflicts with the actual services available. After three months of navigating conflicting information and continuously changing policies, I was forced to seek care elsewhere. Remarkably, my new medical practice registered me within 24 hours, attentively listened to my healthcare needs, and promptly scheduled an appointment with a clear commitment to providing necessary support. I was stunned to discover how straightforward quality healthcare could be after 12 years of unnecessary complications. I've awarded two stars primarily in recognition of the genuinely caring medical professionals I've encountered over the years. The additional stars were forfeited due to poor customer service and extensive delays in receiving appropriate care. I strongly caution others against making the same mistake and remaining with a practice that fails to meet basic patient care standards. I want to be clear that this review is not seeking any personal resolution or management intervention. My sole purpose is to assist potential patients in making informed healthcare choices by sharing my experience, now that I have found superior medical support elsewhere.

Endless waiting and zero communication frustration

I initiated contact at 10 in the morning seeking a scheduling slot, and was informed the process would require an hour. By noon, I followed up, only to be told I was next in line. After another two hours passed without any communication, I reached out once more. They recognized their failure to contact me and offered an apology, but at this point, five hours had elapsed since my initial inquiry. The entire experience represents an utterly unacceptable level of customer service.

Incompetent doctor misdiagnosed my serious allergic reaction

I consulted a male doctor whose name escapes me, and his approach was far from professional. My condition deteriorated following the appointment. I adhered to his recommendation of taking medication to address fever and inflammation, having informed him about my redness and heat sensation. He clearly failed to recognize these symptoms as allergic reactions. Within a day, my condition drastically worsened. Redness and red spots spread across my entire body, and my face began unexpectedly peeling. I applied cooling gel and hastily purchased allergy relief tablets from the pharmacy. Drawing on my experience as a laser therapist, I attempted to soothe my facial skin. I was utterly bewildered by the doctor's dismissal of my allergic symptoms. Had I been less informed about allergies, I would have been completely shocked by the outcome. While I am aware of the receptionists' notorious reputation, I will refrain from commenting on them. Numerous reviews already exist detailing their conduct. My focus remains solely on the doctor's professional competence. For those not yet registered with this medical center, I present my case as a potential medical error. I sincerely hope to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Fantastic nhs service that truly delivers care

[update: 13 May 2025] Today I genuinely experienced five-star service from an NHS service, which felt like a rare occurrence after a considerable time. Submitted a triage form and secured an in-person appointment within a week! Met Dr Danny Sfeir who was exceptional and incredibly supportive. He was punctual. Provided me with a prescription and conducted a cervical screening on the same day. Additionally, I'm now scheduled for a blood test within the next week. I want to revise my previous critical review, as it's clear this surgery has implemented effective improvements over the past 3 years, creating an efficient patient experience. Previous review 2022 (2 stars): I've been a patient at this GP surgery since July 2021, and initially, the service was fairly dependable with minimal issues. However, since the start of 2022, particularly around springtime, it felt like the staff were completely absent. Triage forms took an excessively long time to process. There was a period when they were unavailable for about a week, causing me to abandon my attempt to arrange a mental health review that my GP had recommended for medication reassessment. I tried again on July 18th and successfully submitted a form. Two weeks later, I received confirmation of an medication review in 8 days. The problem is, I don't believe this situation is unique – it seems that across Greater Manchester, obtaining a GP appointment has become nearly impossible.

Terrible service, waste of time and energy

Terrible encounter, far from the walk-in service advertised. Initial contact involves a phone screening process. I was promised a callback within two hours, but the call actually arrived after a painful 3.5-hour wait. The only outcome was being directed to the Urgent Treatment Centre at MRI. My advice: skip this ineffective service altogether and head straight to the treatment centre, as this provider is completely incompetent at even managing a basic telephone consultation.

Nhs service left me frustrated and hopeless

Thank goodness I encountered Kit, a compassionate and supportive staff member. Thanks to his assistance, I successfully secured a same-day appointment. Dr. Claire was equally proficient and thoughtful. She swiftly arranged a blood test, physiotherapy, and issued my prescriptions without hesitation. However, the NHS app remains challenging to navigate, and the telephone connection is abysmal. Calls are frequently muted or dropped, creating significant obstacles when seeking urgent medical assistance. Moreover, I was deeply frustrated when Victoria Mill Medical Practice abruptly canceled my appointment just one day prior due to a double booking. Their service is remarkably subpar and left me feeling utterly overwhelmed. —————— "They make it feel like they don't care whether you live or die." This was my inaugural experience with UK medical services. Despite multiple previous cold episodes, I'd never consulted a doctor, having heard numerous accounts of poor clinic services. Frankly, the NHS's negative reputation is widely acknowledged. Struggling with long-standing anxiety and a recently twisted foot, my medication was nearly depleted, and my injury remained unhealed after a week. I desperately needed medical attention. The appointment booking process proved incredibly complicated. Attempting to complete the morning form, I struggled to locate the correct document and ultimately failed to submit it, resulting in fully booked appointments. The following day, I successfully submitted the form and awaited a response. Calling City Health Centre, the receptionist advised me to expect a doctor's call, which never materialized. Two days later, the NHS app notified me of an appointment a week hence. Given my urgent need for anxiety medication to maintain sleep and work functionality, I contacted City Health Centre again. Fortunately, a helpful receptionist referred me to an alternative clinic with a two-day appointment. Unexpectedly, a text message arrived canceling my appointment. Calling City Health Centre, a receptionist cited the doctor's potential illness and promised a rescheduling link, which proved useless. Subsequent calls resulted in repeated frustrations: missed calls, disconnections, and unhelpful responses from staff members like Paul, who repeatedly claimed inability to assist. After numerous attempts and increasing desperation, the day concluded with no resolution, leaving me feeling abandoned and hopeless. I'm not passing judgment—merely sharing an experience that perfectly mirrors previous warnings. They make it feel like they don't care whether you live or die.

Unprofessional staff destroy young woman's first smear test

My partner went for her inaugural cervical screening today, naturally feeling nervous about the procedure. Due to unfamiliarity with the clinic's location and traveling from outside the city, she arrived 10 minutes past her scheduled time. Upon reaching the reception, she apologetically acknowledged her tardiness, only to be confronted by staff with an incredibly dismissive and hostile demeanor. For a young woman attending her first screening, one would anticipate a compassionate and understanding welcome - even if being asked to reschedule. Regrettably, this was far from reality. The receptionist casually remarked to the doctor, "she's yours," to which the doctor curtly replied, "absolutely not, she's late and will disrupt my administrative time." These comments were made as if she were invisible, completely disregarding her presence. It's worth noting that at the time, the medical staff were merely engaged in casual conversation, not actively working. While I comprehend the frustration of late arrivals for busy healthcare professionals, I firmly believe patients deserve the same level of respect and courtesy they would expect themselves. My girlfriend departed the clinic in distress, her anxiety about future screenings now significantly heightened. Such treatment is completely unacceptable.

Worst medical service ever terrible communication

This establishment is absolutely dreadful. The front desk staff are incredibly discourteous and hostile. When you attempt to communicate via email, they completely disregard your messages and respond arbitrarily. If you clearly state "I am unavailable on that specific date," they will invariably schedule you precisely for that day. You might explicitly communicate "I do not want to discuss this with xxxxx," yet they will brazenly ignore your request and book you with xxxxx anyway. Their communication is utterly abysmal, demonstrating a complete lack of concern for patient welfare. It's also noteworthy that their email response times can stretch to weeks, months, or even half a year, with instances where they simply never reply at all. They dispatch text messages without providing any means of response. The most egregious issues stem from their poorly trained, incredibly unprofessional staff who rudely interrupt conversations, mockingly laugh at patients describing medical conditions, and display communication skills inferior to those of a toddler.
