Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience, with appointment access and reception courtesy emerging as the most significant concerns. Patients consistently report extreme difficulty scheduling consultations, with many describing phone lines as unresponsive and booking systems as either unavailable or rapidly exhausted within minutes of opening. Extended waiting periods—both on phone lines and for appointment availability—feature prominently across reviews, with some patients waiting weeks for non-urgent care. Reception staff interactions are frequently cited as problematic, with patients describing discourteous, dismissive, or unhelpful attitudes that compound access difficulties.
In contrast, medical professionals receive notably positive feedback for their expertise, compassion, and attentiveness. Doctors and nurses are regularly praised for demonstrating care, taking time to explain procedures, and providing reassuring support. Several patients highlight specific practitioners as exceptional. However, this positive clinical experience is substantially undermined by the barriers to accessing care and the reception experience that precedes it.
A smaller number of patients report satisfactory experiences overall, noting efficient service and supportive staff across all levels. These reviews suggest the practice can deliver good care when access is achieved, but systemic issues with appointment availability and phone responsiveness create significant frustration for a substantial portion of the patient population. The contrast between clinical quality and access difficulties represents the core tension in patient feedback.

Poor!
Terrible doctors and dismissive medical care
Accessing medical care at Clarence Medical Centre has been a deeply frustrating experience for me. Booking a GP appointment is challenging, and I've encountered two particularly distressing interactions. Initially, a Canadian physician (no longer practicing here) completely disregarded my depression, abruptly handing me a mood assessment form. When I expressed concerns about a potential allergic reaction to his prescribed medication, he completely ignored me and didn't even make eye contact, leaving me in tears. Another troubling encounter was with Dr. Eve Blakemore, who rudely questioned my need to remove an embarrassing infected skin tag from my chest. After a brief surgical procedure, she coldly turned away without acknowledging me, leaving a kind nurse to handle my post-procedure care. Despite being a long-time patient, these experiences have been so negative that I'm changing medical practices. The only bright spot has been Dr. Lisa Williams, who consistently demonstrated a direct yet respectful approach. Her professionalism is the sole reason I'm not rating the practice even lower.

Bad!
Terrible medical care that nearly cost my life
These physicians are absolutely terrible! They've disregarded my health on multiple occasions! First, when I had a blood infection, they dismissed me and I subsequently required hospitalization! The second time, at 19, I was suffering from chicken pox, hadn't eaten or drunk anything for 24 hours, and received a pathetic response - just a mouth spray prescription with a patronizing "you poor thing" message! Completely unacceptable! And let's not overlook the incident with their dietitian who essentially body-shamed me by calling me fat and ugly! Steer clear of this medical practice at all costs!

Great local surgery with caring and responsive staff
I've been a patient at this medical practice for more than three years, and I genuinely cannot comprehend the critical comments. People should understand that this is a community healthcare facility serving the entire area, not a personalized service catering exclusively to individual preferences. Whenever I, my spouse, or our children have required medical attention, the practice has consistently responded appropriately and with genuine care. The staff have consistently demonstrated exceptional helpfulness. I want to express my sincere appreciation for their dedicated efforts.

Worst medical experience ever shocking disappointment
I'd give zero stars if possible. Utterly appalling. After enduring a month-long wait for a consultation regarding two critical health conditions, I was dismayed to learn they could only address one issue, forcing me to choose which serious medical concern to prioritize.

Exceptional medical care with compassionate staff
Every member of the team here consistently demonstrates incredible kindness and understanding. They always strive to schedule me an appointment as quickly as possible and are genuinely eager to address any questions I might have. I've never encountered any issues with their service. Unlike many of my friends and relatives who frequently criticize their local medical practices, I am completely satisfied. I have absolutely no intention of seeking care elsewhere.

Frustrating and unhelpful medical appointment experience
Called surgery at 0834. No same-day appointments available. Directed to patches system, told a GP will contact within 24 hours. Patches requires return at 12pm or face administrative paperwork. Absolutely ridiculous.

Helpful doctors but patchs system is broken
I'm somewhat undecided about my overall rating. During my infrequent visits to the GP, the staff have consistently been incredibly supportive. Dr Dobson and Dr Lisa Williams deserve particular praise. The online prescription ordering system is also commendable. However, PATCHS has become my primary source of frustration. Previously, e consult - despite being somewhat repetitive - allowed me to submit concerns and receive a response within 24 hours. The new PATCHS system, which was supposedly an improvement, is actually incredibly problematic. It perpetually appears to be offline. You'll be told no spaces are available until 12:00, then when you return at that time, it shifts to no spaces until 18:00, and when you check again, it pushes availability to 00:00. This isn't an isolated incident, but a recurring issue that is monumentally exasperating. I'm left wondering if appointment slots genuinely exist, whether the system has completely failed, or if there's insufficient staffing to manage it effectively. The entire situation is utterly bewildering.

Persistent patient finds hope with new booking system
Getting an appointment here is a real challenge. Miss the 8:31 am window, and you're out of luck. Their online consultation and booking systems are perpetually unavailable. However, there's been a positive change: now you can register in the queue and receive a callback, which is a significant improvement. I've managed to secure an appointment about 90% of the time. The catch is you still need to be dialing exactly at 8:30 am sharp. While the callback feature is helpful, you must remain alert and start early to have any chance of success.

Excellent medical care at clarence medical centre
I've been a patient at Clarence Medical Centre Rhyl for decades, and throughout this time, I've consistently experienced exceptional medical support from their entire healthcare team, including Doctors, Nurses, and Health Care Assistants. The reception staff have always been equally friendly and accommodating. Their digital consultation platform "PATCHS" represents a contemporary and streamlined method of connecting with medical professionals. I've utilized this service multiple times as an alternative to telephone communication, and I find it thoroughly impressive. Sincere appreciation to the entire team. Sean

Compassionate doctor who truly cares about patients
I recently consulted Dr. K Verma and was thoroughly impressed by her approach. She demonstrated exceptional warmth and compassion, taking the time to provide a comprehensive explanation of the procedure and potential complications. Her manner was so engaging that I found the entire consultation to be genuinely reassuring. I sincerely hope that all general practitioners could emulate her empathetic and patient-centered style of care. My heartfelt appreciation goes to Dr. Verma for making what could have been a stressful encounter into a remarkably positive experience. Anne McCaughey

Grateful patient praises hardworking medical staff
Having spent most of my years in Northern England, I can honestly say that medical services, whether dental or otherwise, inherently come with their own set of challenges. The NHS provides healthcare at no cost, and in Wales, even prescriptions are free. I contributed financially to the system throughout my working years. Personally, I haven't encountered the horror stories some individuals share. Sure, I've experienced occasional subscription delays, sometimes longer waiting times for appointments, and once found my prescription wasn't ready. But let's be realistic - does anyone truly receive absolutely flawless, punctual service in every paid service they use? People need to gain some perspective and recognize that minor hiccups occur in all systems, not just free services. These occasional imperfections are part of life. I appreciate the efforts of the medical staff and encourage them to continue their good work.

Unresponsive service ruins military recruitment dreams
I've been persistently reaching out via email and mail, requesting my complete medical records as part of my ongoing effort to enlist in the military since turning 18. Despite my continuous attempts, I've received absolutely no communication—no emails, no phone calls, nothing—even after a year and four months have passed.

Exceptional care and support for dementia patients
I cannot emphasize enough how incredible the support has been from every single team member at Clarence. My experience echoes the glowing recommendations of previous reviewers. The professionalism spans from the welcoming reception team to the dedicated nurses and doctors, all collaborating to deliver outstanding care. As someone supporting my mother through her dementia journey, I've found Clarence Medical Centre to be instrumental in ensuring she receives comprehensive and compassionate support. The collaborative approach they've taken has been truly remarkable. Choosing Clarence was undoubtedly the most beneficial choice for my entire family, and I am deeply grateful for their ongoing commitment to our well-being.

Horrible customer service that left me fuming
The customer service here is absolutely atrocious - hands down the most disrespectful team I've ever encountered. WHOEVER IS ANSWERING THESE PHONES SHOULD BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY. I understand if someone calls with an aggressive tone, but when I'm just trying to inquire about a lost prescription, their demeanor suggests I'm an inconvenience and deliberately wasting their precious time... and wouldn't you know, they eventually located the missing item. Yet, not a single word of apology was offered.

Frustrating and ineffective healthcare nightmare
I rang at 0831 and was informed I was in some queue position (an unclear term - 30, 40, 50, 60?). When finally connecting, I was told I'd need a callback. As someone who drives professionally, I can't simply answer calls whenever convenient. Upon calling back, they claimed they'd message the doctor. No further communication followed. E-consultation wasn't an option. It seems these appointments primarily cater to individuals without work commitments who can leisurely wait around. This isn't an isolated incident - my daughter has experienced similar frustrations multiple times in recent weeks. It's completely understandable why patients ultimately resort to emergency departments for issues a GP should handle. The service is absolutely unacceptable.
