Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience, with appointment access and reception courtesy emerging as the most significant concerns. Patients consistently report extreme difficulty scheduling consultations, with many describing phone lines as unresponsive and booking systems as either unavailable or rapidly exhausted within minutes of opening. Extended waiting periods—both on phone lines and for appointment availability—feature prominently across reviews, with some patients waiting weeks for non-urgent care. Reception staff interactions are frequently cited as problematic, with patients describing discourteous, dismissive, or unhelpful attitudes that compound access difficulties.

In contrast, medical professionals receive notably positive feedback for their expertise, compassion, and attentiveness. Doctors and nurses are regularly praised for demonstrating care, taking time to explain procedures, and providing reassuring support. Several patients highlight specific practitioners as exceptional. However, this positive clinical experience is substantially undermined by the barriers to accessing care and the reception experience that precedes it.

A smaller number of patients report satisfactory experiences overall, noting efficient service and supportive staff across all levels. These reviews suggest the practice can deliver good care when access is achieved, but systemic issues with appointment availability and phone responsiveness create significant frustration for a substantial portion of the patient population. The contrast between clinical quality and access difficulties represents the core tension in patient feedback.

Bad!

Terrible service from unprofessional and rude doctor

Completely worthless - avoid registering at all costs. This practice is so bad it shouldn't even get a single star. I registered on Wednesday, and the doctor's phone manner was absolutely terrible. She was dismissive and completely unhelpful. I'm definitely switching to another local GP tomorrow. In all my years, I've never encountered such a dreadful medical practice.

Poor!

Disappointing healthcare at a once-great medical center

Since Clarence House expanded, their service quality has significantly declined, particularly with the reception staff who come across as discourteous. While the doctors and nurses are excellent, the remaining staff seem to be the issue. Booking an appointment is nearly impossible, and attempting to speak with a GP or nurse is frustrating. You're consistently instructed to call back the following day, and phone wait times can stretch up to an hour, only to be told to call again. The staff appear completely indifferent to patient needs, and even obtaining prescriptions has become an absurd process. The overall experience is thoroughly unsatisfactory.

Compassionate healthcare heroes during challenging times

Throughout my interactions with medical professionals, from physicians to nursing staff and front desk personnel, I have consistently received exceptional care, even during the challenging times of COVID-19 when healthcare resources were severely strained. I want to express my deepest gratitude to every single one of these dedicated healthcare workers.

Caring medical team but terrible reception service

The medical professionals are top-notch, but the front desk personnel are a different story. Their demeanor is brusque and completely devoid of compassion. Moreover, they show a shocking disregard for patient privacy when addressing medical concerns or appointment details. Even prior to the pandemic, this was an issue, and the situation has only deteriorated since then. If I were to interact with my own patients in such a manner, I'd certainly be terminated. And that's assuming you can even manage to get past the initial hurdle of accessing a healthcare provider.

Terrible service from uncaring medical staff

Absolutely terrible customer service from the staff. Clarence Medical falls far below any acceptable standard - you truly don't merit even a single star rating. It's clear your employees desperately require comprehensive training on professional communication and compassionate patient interaction when handling medical inquiries.

Bad!

Terrible service and medical incompetence at its worst

Repeatedly failing to process prescriptions correctly and sending them to incorrect pharmacies. Consistently unable to schedule appointments. Suffering from foot pain, underwent an X-ray months ago, yet still unable to consult a professional or review the results. Staff is completely unhelpful. Deeply regretful of choosing this healthcare provider and actively seeking alternative medical services.

Bad!

Terrible service and unhelpful pharmacy staff

The employees here are shockingly disrespectful, seemingly oblivious to the fact that customers might be facing challenges. They complained about having only 4 people in the shop for safety, yet they stood clustered behind the counter without wearing masks. When I finally requested my prescription, they couldn't locate it and were uncertain about its arrival. If only the doctors' office was in the same building so they could communicate - oh wait, it actually is! I genuinely miss the staff from a few years back, particularly Duncan, who was much more professional and helpful.

Compassionate care for elderly at clarence medical centre

My elderly mother, aged 87, receives treatment at Clarence Medical Centre in Rhyl. Since her transfer from a Surgery in Kinmel Bay, they have provided her with exceptional care. The physicians and entire staff consistently demonstrate respect and handle her intricate medical requirements with careful consideration, promptness, and professionalism. I would confidently suggest this medical centre to my acquaintances and relatives.

Terrible service with no consideration for customers

Unbelievable experience! Arrived at 9:00 AM, just half an hour after opening, only to be informed that all slots for the day are fully booked. They suggest returning tomorrow. Seriously? I have a job and can't keep taking time off to show up an hour early and potentially still be turned away without an appointment.

Terrible service and impossible to get an appointment

If you're feeling unwell, prepare for a challenging experience. It takes two days just to secure an appointment. Their phone lines are perpetually unresponsive, and available time slots vanish instantaneously. Their standard advice is either to sit and wait endlessly or head to the emergency room. It's no mystery why emergency department wait times are so excessive when they're redirecting even minor issues like ear pain to A&E.

Poor!

Frustrating healthcare nightmare with no resolution

I had an utterly disastrous encounter with this medical facility. I attempted to schedule an appointment for two consecutive days, and after being placed on hold for almost an hour each morning, no slots were accessible. When I phoned again on Tuesday night due to experiencing blood in my urine, a physician eventually returned my call, instructing me to undergo tests and contact them if my condition deteriorated. Now that my symptoms have indeed worsened, am I able to secure an appointment? Absolutely not. I cannot even obtain a coherent response from their staff.

Terrible customer service and unprofessional staff

Utterly appalling customer service. The front desk staff member displays an incredibly discourteous attitude. I've been attempting to schedule an appointment for three consecutive days without any success, as their available slots are completely inflexible. They repeatedly instructed me to call and book, but upon doing so, I was abruptly informed that booking is impossible. It seems they have zero consideration for individuals with professional and academic responsibilities. The entire experience has left me thoroughly disheartened and frustrated.

Terrible customer service and wasted time waiting

No one seems interested in answering the phone. I wasted a quarter of an hour stuck as the "first caller" attempting to schedule an appointment. Unhelpful receptionist nearly derails crucial medical care

My 18-month-old son has been battling recurring ear and throat infections, leading to multiple emergency room visits due to high fevers. We went to Clarence Medical Centre knowing he needed antibiotics. The doctor prescribed medication, but we struggled immensely to administer it. Despite our best efforts and mixing it with drinks, our son consistently spit it out. Even his nursery staff couldn't get him to take the medicine and advised us to return to the doctor. After consulting the NHS helpline, we were told to revisit the clinic. Typically, getting an appointment is challenging, so we arrived without one. When we explained the situation to the receptionist, she dismissively suggested mixing the medicine with various substances - something we'd already attempted. Her unhelpful attitude was infuriating. When I questioned her medical qualifications, she admitted she wasn't trained and briefly consulted a doctor. She returned, stating there was nothing they could do. Frustrated and shocked by her callous response, we demanded to see a physician directly. The doctor listened to our son's medical history and prescribed an alternative antibiotic that our child readily accepted. This receptionist, who lacks medical training and seemingly handles administrative tasks inconsistently, should not be providing medical advice. Based on other reviews, her interactions have been problematic, and action should be taken before her negligence potentially causes serious harm. "Shocking" doesn't even begin to describe the experience.
