Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience, with appointment access and reception courtesy emerging as the most significant concerns. Patients consistently report extreme difficulty scheduling consultations, with many describing phone lines as unresponsive and booking systems as either unavailable or rapidly exhausted within minutes of opening. Extended waiting periods—both on phone lines and for appointment availability—feature prominently across reviews, with some patients waiting weeks for non-urgent care. Reception staff interactions are frequently cited as problematic, with patients describing discourteous, dismissive, or unhelpful attitudes that compound access difficulties.
In contrast, medical professionals receive notably positive feedback for their expertise, compassion, and attentiveness. Doctors and nurses are regularly praised for demonstrating care, taking time to explain procedures, and providing reassuring support. Several patients highlight specific practitioners as exceptional. However, this positive clinical experience is substantially undermined by the barriers to accessing care and the reception experience that precedes it.
A smaller number of patients report satisfactory experiences overall, noting efficient service and supportive staff across all levels. These reviews suggest the practice can deliver good care when access is achieved, but systemic issues with appointment availability and phone responsiveness create significant frustration for a substantial portion of the patient population. The contrast between clinical quality and access difficulties represents the core tension in patient feedback.

Poor!
Frustrating service with endless waiting times
Frustratingly slow service with extended waiting periods that test your patience. Every interaction seems to drag on forever, making even simple transactions feel like an eternity. The staff appears overwhelmed or disorganized, resulting in unnecessarily prolonged wait times that diminish the overall customer experience.

Worst customer service nightmare ever
Absolutely dreadful experience! Spent nearly three-quarters of an hour waiting, and just as I was about to speak with someone, they abruptly disconnected the call. What a complete farce!

Unprofessional medical advice puts daughter at risk
I am utterly baffled by the audacity of the receptionist attempting to diagnose medical conditions, repeatedly targeting my daughter and recommending generic over-the-counter pain medication as a supposed remedy. Her medical investigation continues months afterward, with ongoing blood work still in progress.

Incompetent doctors nearly cost my partner her life
Incompetent, condescending. Alarmingly dismissive and nearly fatal, they brushed off my partner's tumour as mere "hypochondria" which almost resulted in total organ loss. Glan Clwyd ultimately rescued her, horrified by the tumour's magnitude and the previous medical team's shocking indifference. The attitude remains unchanged—arrogant and self-important, with absolutely no acknowledgment of their egregious error.

Terrible service and racist attitude at gp clinic
My initial visit resulted in being turned away due to forgetting my NHS number and lacking a previous GP. On my second attempt, a staff member assured me I only needed my passport and proof of address. After retrieving those documents, I encountered an incredibly unpleasant woman. Despite explaining that another staff member had previously confirmed my documentation was sufficient, she adamantly claimed I must have a doctor. She repeatedly refused to accept my form and insisted I contact health services, even reluctant to provide their contact information. When I called, they immediately informed her that they cannot deny me service, especially given my pregnancy. Once confronted with this information, her attitude dramatically changed. I've never experienced such unprofessional treatment in all my years. If not for my baby, I would absolutely avoid this GP practice. It was painfully evident that the woman's behavior was motivated by racial prejudice, and she was dismissive from the moment I arrived. No one should be discriminated against based on race, and I will be filing a comprehensive complaint about this unacceptable experience.

Frustrating journey through healthcare bureaucratic maze
My partner was referred to Glan Clwyd for a liver ultrasound due to autoimmune medication potentially affecting liver health. The consultant recommended scheduling a GP appointment to discuss the results, which included findings of fatty liver and an enlarged spleen. I attempted to book this appointment, but encountered significant obstacles. The receptionist interrogated me about the purpose of the visit and instructed me to call back at 8:30am to check appointment availability. It took four days of persistent effort to finally speak with someone. Upon explaining the consultant's recommendation and providing detailed context, the receptionist dismissively remarked that they had seen similar cases before. Her apparent lack of professional understanding and unwillingness to schedule a GP consultation was deeply frustrating. While I recognize the surgery is likely overwhelmed, it has become excessively bureaucratic and impersonal, making access to healthcare unnecessarily complicated. I will attempt to secure an appointment in the new year, though I hold little optimism about successfully doing so.

Terrible receptionist blocks urgent medical communication
I've discovered a concerning neck lump, and my physician suggested I could contact them at will, but the receptionist, Percy, is on a complete power trip. Their demeanor is incredibly offensive and disrespectful - I'm utterly appalled by their behavior.

Great service at local medical practice
Relocated to Rhyl from Prestatyn recently and signed up with this service. I was thoroughly impressed - they conducted a comprehensive MOT and were incredibly attentive. The staff were remarkably caring, and I was genuinely struck by the quality of their service, especially considering the challenging circumstances they operate under. I truly appreciate their dedication and commitment. Continued success to the entire team.

Unprofessional staff put my childs health at risk
Completely shocked by the reception team who seem to believe they possess medical expertise. Today, they dismissed my 2-year-old son with a full-body rash, callously telling us to return tomorrow. No medical professional was consulted, just idle chatter among receptionists. We've been strongly recommended to file a formal complaint, which we fully intend to do. Being employed at a medical practice does not equate to medical training, and I am utterly outraged by their unprofessional and potentially dangerous behavior.

Terrible healthcare with long wait times and rushed care
Getting an early morning appointment is straightforward, but if you have a busy schedule, securing a timeslot becomes a nightmare. The waiting period stretches to around 2-3 weeks, which is incredibly frustrating. The medical staff aren't particularly impressive either. When I described my symptoms, they quickly ordered a chest x-ray and heart rhythm test. Within moments, my doctor casually suggested it was hay fever and prescribed tablets that ultimately resolved my issue.

Unprofessional nurse shamed me before my beautiful birth
Initially, when I shared my nervousness about sexual health with a nurse, her response was dismissive and insensitive, telling me to "toughen up" and bluntly suggesting that if I couldn't handle an exam, I shouldn't expect to have children. However, my recent experience giving birth to my first son has been entirely different. The midwives at Glan Clywd were remarkably understanding, compassionate, and attentive to my anxieties. They truly deserve far more recognition and appreciation than they currently receive. :-)

Terrible service that wastes patients time and hope
Scheduling is a nightmare here. When I phoned early morning, I was number 29 on the waiting list and after half an hour, only reached number 18. The wait became unbearable, forcing me to hang up. The referral process is equally frustrating. My two kids have been stuck on an eight-month waiting list, and after nearly a year, I discovered the referral was never even submitted. To make matters worse, one of their doctors actually suggested I use Google to find help for myself - completely unprofessional and unhelpful.
