Been with their practice for years. They never answer the phone, and doctors simply dismiss concerns, saying the NHS won't cover it. Inclusive, respectful and caring

I have been using this surgery for the past 7 years. Due to family circumstances and poor mental health I had been left to slip through the cracks. However the care of staff here has helped me to work hard at recovery and not end up back in hospital again despite there being a recent death in the family. I have never felt judged or discriminated against here. I love that they do alot for ex-forces members like my grandad was. This is a good surgery and one the NHS, Birmingham and the country should be proud of. Thank you to all at Cofton. I am truly only alive because of your support.

I've been attempting to secure an appointment since Monday, and it's now Thursday. Consistently, I'm met with the same dismissive response: "Sorry, call back tomorrow at 8:30" - despite the fact that I'm essentially pre-booking and wasting an hour each time, only to be told no slots are available. It's absolutely ridiculous, especially considering that 111 has sent a report emphasizing my need to be seen. Yet, I'm still receiving the identical unhelpful answer.

Decent Doctors, Terrible Receptionists at Cofton

The surgical procedure itself is satisfactory. The doctors are competent and display genuine compassion, being friendly and showing empathy while demonstrating solid medical knowledge. However.....the reception staff are discourteous and insufferable. This medical centre has a long-standing reputation for subpar customer service, primarily from the front desk - which is the initial point of contact for every visitor. This is precisely where the practice fundamentally fails. Numerous negative reviews have consistently highlighted the poor receptionist conduct over the years, and the centre's response has been to replace incompetent staff with equally, if not more, inadequate personnel!! The recruitment and interviewing process is completely baffling. One reception staff member urgently needs customer service training and should either find a more suitable role that matches their limited interpersonal skills or work in an environment like a factory or warehouse - not in a medical setting where compassion and empathy are crucial. Patients seeking medical attention are likely experiencing illness or distress, and the last thing they need is an unwelcoming and hostile initial interaction. Were it not for a couple of excellent doctors, I would have departed long ago. *Edited the review as requested by Cofton Medical Centre*. Now that I've complied with your instructions, what actions will you take regarding your unprofessional reception staff? I am certainly not the only patient who has encountered such issues!

Similar to other practices, there can be some waiting involved, but most services are accessible through the NHS app. My previous surgery was disappointing, but I am thoroughly impressed with this new one. Unfair wait at GP after 10:30 appointment

To all readers, I implore you to understand the discriminatory treatment my family experienced at the GP today. The appointment was scheduled for my wife and 2-month-old son. We received a text confirmation for a 10:30 time slot. We arrived at 10:10am and waited patiently until 10:40. At this point, numerous other families arrived with their children to see the nurse AFTER our designated 10:30 appointment. At 10:55am, I inquired with the receptionist about our extended wait time. She claimed we were booked for 10:45am, contradicting the text confirmation stating 10:30am. Suspiciously, the families who arrived after us were seen first!!! Coincidence? I think not.... When I confronted the receptionist, she asserted these appointments were earlier, despite my clear observation proving otherwise. Upon checking the tablet confirmations, I could see these families' appointment times were indeed after our 10:30 slot. Fundamentally, we're supposed to live in a world without prejudice. Sadly, racism and indifference towards minority groups persist. In today's society, it's disheartening that people can stoop to such levels. My wife was the only person waiting wearing a headscarf - draw your own conclusions about potential correlations. I demand a written apology addressing our wasted time, resources, and the profound sense of being deemed unimportant, unwanted, and unworthy. The receptionist deliberately manipulated our appointment, despite our early arrival. Had I been 30 minutes late, I would have been summarily dismissed. Most disappointingly, no effort was made to reschedule us on the same day. The unprofessionalism was utterly inexcusable. To Muslims and people of color: be prepared for potential injustice. Sincerely.

Attempting to secure travel vaccinations has been challenging, with no available slots for the next five weeks, which is frustrating. Despite this, the staff are making genuine efforts to help, though staffing shortages clearly complicate matters. I'm genuinely grateful that the nurse personally reached out and attempted to find a solution where possible. My heart goes out to all NHS workers right now, and I recognize it's too simple to just complain and express disappointment. This isn't their fault, and I remain hopeful that the situation will improve soon. :-)

Sad to Leave Dr Lloyd's Caring Practice

I've been a patient at this medical practice since its inception and have consistently found it easy to book appointments, whether through phone or their app. The doctors are incredibly compassionate, always willing to help with any concern. When needed, I could specifically request a female physician for personal matters. Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Blackford are exceptional, truly the standout professionals at this surgery. Unfortunately, after moving just two miles outside their catchment area, despite my heartfelt pleas to remain registered, I've been informed that continuing as a patient is at the GPS's discretion and am now excluded. This situation has caused me significant anxiety, as I believe having a GP who genuinely listens and allows you to openly discuss health concerns is crucial. I would absolutely recommend this surgery to anyone seeking attentive and caring medical professionals 😀

Quick Same-Day Appointments Saved Me

If you're relocating to this area, I strongly suggest choosing this medical practice. Scheduling appointments with a GP has never been an issue for me; whenever I've needed one, I've been able to secure either a same-day telephone or in-person consultation. Even shortly after the full lockdown, I managed to get a same-day face-to-face appointment, which was fortunate since I was significantly more unwell than I initially realized. The entire staff, including nurses and GPs, are wonderful. The healthcare professionals always take the time to listen attentively and discuss matters thoroughly, without feeling rushed or constrained by a strict 10-minute appointment window. The reception staff consistently go above and beyond to assist and make patients feel welcome. The overall care provided by the entire team is truly exceptional.
