Patient Experience Summary

Feedback about this practice reveals a stark divide between clinical and administrative experiences. Medical professionals are consistently described as competent, compassionate, and responsive, with several patients highlighting the availability of same-day appointments and the quality of care received. However, reception and phone access present significant challenges that dominate patient concerns. Patients report persistent difficulties reaching the practice by telephone, with calls frequently going unanswered or being disconnected, alongside long waiting times both on the phone and in person. Reception staff courtesy emerges as a major issue, with multiple accounts of dismissive, discourteous, and unprofessional communication, including instances where patients felt disrespected or blamed rather than supported. A small number of reception staff have been specifically praised for exceptional service, suggesting that experience varies considerably depending on which team member patients interact with.

Appointment access and booking present operational challenges, with patients describing the scheduling process as difficult and reporting instances of last-minute cancellations. The practice environment itself has been noted as uncomfortable in some cases, with inadequate facilities such as missing water dispensers and temperature control issues in waiting areas. While the clinical competence of doctors and nurses remains a consistent strength, the gap between medical care quality and administrative service quality creates frustration that undermines overall patient satisfaction and confidence in the service.

Exceptional service from a caring medical professional

My interaction with Iman, the receptionist at Conway Medical Centre, was truly exceptional. She demonstrated remarkable professionalism and helpfulness during our phone conversation, carefully addressing each of my inquiries and ensuring my medication needs were handled with speed and precision. It's uncommon to encounter someone so dedicated and competent—she clearly stands out as a valuable team member. I'm grateful for her outstanding service.

Frustrating gp appointment system wastes my time

I secured a phone consultation, but it requires me sacrificing half a working day for a mere 10-minute conversation with my doctor. The GP could ring anytime between 9am and 1pm, yet I'm unable to answer while serving customers at the supermarket checkout. One would assume they could refine the appointment window to at least within an hour. It's not complicated - just plain laziness, and we must highlight these issues or consider changing practices. Clearly, they understand most patients will remain silent, so they show no concern. GP practices are arguably the most subpar in customer service. I attribute this to poor leadership. How can they expect patients to be tethered to their phones all day awaiting a callback? Certainly alternative appointment management methods exist. Recently, I surrendered and spent £50 on a private GP consultation. The hassle and stress of obtaining a GP appointment have become unbearable. It seems the entire practice is solely motivated by financial gain, with zero consideration for patient experience.

Fantastic service from caring medical centre staff

I phoned in and the front desk staff member was incredibly supportive, quickly addressing my concern. Iman truly represents the best of Conway medical centre and deserves recognition for her outstanding assistance. I'd also like to highlight Shaista, who consistently greets patients with a warm smile and demonstrates exceptional dedication. My parents are particularly fond of her. While Conway medical centre has some staff members who could improve their customer service approach, these wonderful women make a significant difference. There's another friendly staff member who typically works afternoon shifts - I can't recall her name, but she's equally remarkable. These ladies are precisely why I felt compelled to share this review. Keep up the fantastic work!

Terrible receptionists ruin patient experience at clinic

I suggest implementing a self-service system where patients can input their details independently for appointments and bookings. Most individuals prefer avoiding direct interaction with receptionists, who frequently come across as discourteous and unprofessional. Even when patients approach them politely, seeking medical consultations or prescription assistance, some receptionists display blatant disrespect. They consistently interrupt, prevent patients from fully expressing themselves, and make unwarranted presumptions, with absolutely no justification for such conduct. It would be beneficial if management investigated these issues, as the current environment generates significant unnecessary tension. Patients should not be treated like inconveniences; we visit healthcare facilities with legitimate needs and seeking assistance. Fortunately, the doctors themselves remain pleasant and accommodating.

Dangerous doctor caused severe facial skin damage

Exercise caution when considering Dr. Charles for dermatological issues. He mishandled my facial infection by incorrectly prescribing potent steroid creams intended for toe treatment [terbinafine], instructing me to apply them to my face, which resulted in severe facial psoriasis. His incompetence warrants immediate dismissal, as he demonstrates a complete lack of medical professionalism. After Conway GP's neglectful approach left me in distress for a quarter of a year, I was forced to seek help from a private medical facility to address the damage he caused.

Worst customer service ever from rude receptionist

I spent two excruciating hours on hold today, and when someone finally answered, the receptionist Lubna demonstrated an appalling lack of professionalism and basic customer service skills. Her demeanor clearly indicates she is unsuited for a role that requires interpersonal interaction with patients. This is not an isolated incident - repeatedly, she interrupts me before I can fully explain my purpose, preemptively shutting down communication by claiming appointment slots are unavailable, even when that's not the reason for my call. Her dismissive approach is consistently frustrating and emotionally draining. This systematic poor treatment must be confronted to ensure other patients are not subjected to the same demoralizing experience I've endured repeatedly.

Incompetent doctor nearly cost me my life

I reached out about experiencing a persistent cough and sore throat. Dr. Charles completely dismissed my concerns and showed no empathy. I meticulously detailed my symptoms over the past few days, yet he merely prescribed co-codamol for a viral infection. When I expressed that I frequently fall ill, he callously told me to simply cope with it. That same evening, I ended up in A&E after fainting and striking my head. The emergency staff seemed more focused on my viral infection than my head injury. My vital signs were alarming - an elevated heart rate and significantly high blood pressure. Two days later, they summoned me for additional blood tests. The results revealed a serious blood abnormality, requiring my immediate hospitalization. This entire situation could have been prevented if Dr. Charles had genuinely listened during our initial consultation. He made me feel insignificant and like an inconvenience. I'm not typically someone who writes reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about potential medical neglect. After being discharged, I was prescribed antibiotics. Unfortunately, I experienced a severe adverse reaction at home and contacted my GP early morning around 8:40 to request medication adjustment. I carefully explained my hospital experience and current condition. I spent the entire day anxiously awaiting their callback, unable to rest or sleep for fear of missing their call. Eventually, they returned my call at 5pm, causing me to miss a crucial antibiotic dose. While I understand GPs manage numerous patients, my situation was urgent and deserved more immediate attention.

Terrible receptionists ruin medical office experience

The customer service at this medical practice is absolutely abysmal. It's baffling why the doctors would employ such incompetent and miserable front desk staff who provide zero assistance. Just take a glance at the Google reviews, and you'll find a unanimous chorus of complaints about the receptionists being discourteous and highly unprofessional. This practice desperately needs to clean house. A direct message to the receptionist: if you're unable to perform your duties effectively, stop collecting a paycheck and find employment elsewhere instead of hindering patient care.

Throughout my family's four-decade relationship with CMC, we've consistently encountered exceptional and caring medical professionals. Specifically, Shaista demonstrated remarkable empathy and extraordinary effort to assist me. I truly appreciate her dedication and ultimate success in helping me through my emergency.

Unhelpful receptionists ruin an otherwise great practice

Medical professionals are excellent, but the front desk staff demonstrate a remarkable lack of interpersonal skills when interacting with patients. They appear robotic, almost like automated machines programmed to recite identical phrases ad nauseam. Their administrative competence seems severely lacking, as they consistently confuse different types of medical documentation. In one instance, my husband was given a sick note without consultation when seeking a fitness certificate, yet when he genuinely required a sick note following spinal surgery, suddenly direct physician communication became mandatory. The inconsistent protocols are bewildering and frustrating. These receptionists urgently need comprehensive training in customer service and patient communication. It's particularly galling considering that taxpayer funds support their employment, and one would expect a basic standard of professional courtesy in return.

Terrible service and rude receptionist at medical practice

My young child was severely unwell with a high temperature and fever for several days. I attempted to manage it using Calpol and Nurofen, but his temperature remained extremely elevated (39/40). I contacted the surgery, and no appointments were available on Monday. Zahra called stating no appointment was possible and suggested trying again the next day. However, my son's health worsened, and I went to A and E after calling 111 at 7:30pm. After spending 5 hours there, the A and E Doctors prescribed Penicillin. When administered at midnight, my son had a severe reaction, experiencing hallucinations and inability to sleep. The following day, I requested a medicine change at the GP and awaited a callback. Dr Alam promptly addressed the issue and arranged for the medicine to be sent to my pharmacy. However, the receptionist Zahra called back and was extremely hostile and unprofessional, expressing frustration about my repeated calls regarding my toddler's medical condition. While I understand you are busy with numerous patients, it is your professional responsibility to remain calm and compassionate when communicating with patients. Instead, you were condescending during a challenging time when I had just spent the night at A and E with my sick child. This role is unsuitable for you, Zahra, if you feel compelled to belittle patients and parents seeking medical assistance. Your behaviour is embarrassing for both yourself and the Conway Medical team. Dr Alam had previously spoken with me, and everything was resolved, yet you remained agitated about my persistent communication. It's disappointing that while Dr Alam and Dr Charles are helpful and composed, their receptionists are rude and patronizing. It's evident that many patients are experiencing similar issues with the reception staff here.

There's a receptionist at this medical practice who completely lacks the basic interpersonal skills required for the job. If you're incapable of or unwilling to communicate and assist patients, then you have no business working in a reception role, you absolute idiot.

Terrible customer service from arrogant receptionists

The front desk staff display an appalling lack of professionalism and courtesy. They carry themselves with an unwarranted sense of superiority, seemingly oblivious to the fact that they are merely support staff, not medical professionals themselves. Their conduct is utterly mortifying. While I consistently confront their inappropriate attitude, it's frustrating that such intervention should be necessary. Dr. Prasad, who has been my physician since childhood, would have immediately addressed this unacceptable situation without question, and I deeply miss his compassionate approach.
