Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals significant challenges with appointment availability and phone access, with patients reporting lengthy waits of several weeks and difficulty reaching the practice by telephone. Reception experience emerges as a key concern, with multiple accounts of discourteous interactions and dismissive communication from front desk staff. However, the nursing team and medical professionals receive consistent praise for professionalism, compassion, and competent care when appointments are secured. The registration process has been noted as efficient in some cases, though administrative organisation appears inconsistent across patient experiences. Communication failures extend beyond reception to follow-up calls that are frequently delayed or never materialised, creating frustration for those with ongoing medical needs.

While some patients report recent improvements through alternative booking systems and eConsult services, the core issue of appointment access persists as a dominant theme. Several reviews highlight the contrast between quality clinical care and systemic barriers to receiving that care, with patients describing the morning booking process as chaotic and the overall experience as unnecessarily stressful. The practice appears to operate under capacity constraints that impact responsiveness and patient convenience, though individual staff members are frequently commended for their dedication and supportive approach when direct contact is achieved.

Welcoming Surgery That Eased My Anxiety

I recently registered with this medical practice after relocating within Kent, and I am thoroughly delighted with my experience. The front desk staff are incredibly warm and supportive, which is completely unlike any previous interactions I've had. The impact of their approach is truly remarkable. The registration process was seamless, with the reception team providing exceptional assistance. As someone struggling with chronic anxiety, I typically find contacting medical offices extremely stressful due to potential harsh treatment and invasive questioning. I am immensely grateful for making my transition to this new surgery so effortless and comfortable, and especially appreciate how the reception team treated me with genuine humanity and respect. Their compassionate approach makes an enormous difference in patient experience! My sincere thanks!🤩

Whitstable clinic's response times have improved

In the past, scheduling appointments was quite challenging, but over the recent six-week period, I've observed a significant improvement in their responsiveness. The Reception staff are truly dedicated to being as helpful and efficient as possible. The physicians are warm, engaged, and make me feel completely supported from the moment I enter the consultation room. While I personally avoid the stressful morning phone rush at 8am, I appreciate having the Whitstable Walk-In centre as an option for urgent matters, and the eConsult forms are perfect for non-urgent concerns. They are clearly putting in maximum effort, and I genuinely appreciate their commitment.

Impossible to Book an Appointment

Absolutely avoid this place. Zero stars would be my rating if possible. Despite living in the area for three years, I've been unable to secure a single appointment. When you're well enough to attempt calling during the brief window for booking, you're greeted by a message stating the lines are overwhelmed and suggesting you try again later - effectively preventing you from scheduling anything. Absolutely dreadful. UPDATE: I stubbornly persisted and was placed in a queue - momentary hope! I waited patiently, thinking I might revise my review if I could book an appointment, but predictably, no slots remained - how shocking! Now I'm forced to travel to Margate's 'extended access clinic' tomorrow. My heart goes out to all NHS staff right now; the entire system is in complete disarray.

Broken Promises at My Local GP Clinic

My physiotherapy appointment was abruptly cancelled, with promises to reschedule through the physiotherapist, yet after four months, I'm still without an appointment. They claimed an MRI had been arranged, but when I contacted the hospital more than half a year later, I discovered no such booking existed. Attempting to reach them during off-peak hours, I've found their phone lines perpetually unresponsive. Despite being placed under special measures, this medical practice shows no signs of improvement.

Compassionate Care for My Health Needs

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dashford Medical Centre for their incredible support. As someone with learning difficulties, they've been instrumental in addressing my weight concerns and managing my asthma. Whenever I struggle to comprehend something, they patiently explain it to me again. The staff, including the receptionists, are always understanding and helpful. Even when I accidentally forget important dates and call them, they remain cheerful and supportive. There have been times when I've felt extremely nervous about appointments, and they've gone out of their way to call and reassure me, helping to calm my anxiety. I am truly thankful to the doctors for their professional care and to the receptionists for their kindness and compassion.

Caring Doctors Helped Me and My Daughter

Over the past few weeks, I've experienced exceptional care and support from the medical staff. Dr. Jabu, Dr. Vig, Dr. Speller, and Dr. Cardwell have been incredibly helpful, along with the friendly reception team. Everyone is clearly giving their utmost effort to provide outstanding treatment for both myself and my daughter.

Impossible to Book a GP Appointment

I'm at a loss for words... the waiting area is cramped and inadequate. The GPS devices are excellent, and the front desk staff genuinely attempt to help, but getting through on the phone is a nightmare. The moment the clock strikes 8am, the lines are immediately swamped. After waiting for half an hour, you discover all appointment slots have vanished. It's perplexing why doctors haven't returned to full in-person consultations when every other NHS service has. Wouldn't it be more straightforward to revert to the traditional walk-in system where patients take a number and wait for their turn with a single GP?

Dashwood Surgery: Worst Care in Seven Months

I've been struggling for over 6 months to receive any medical services whatsoever. I can't see a GP, get my medications, or get anyone to communicate with me. As a result, 999 and A&E have had to handle my medical needs. I've experienced multiple poor surgeries, but Dashwood is absolutely the worst! After 7 months of involuntary membership, I've been essentially dismissed. No GP has been assigned, and I'm battling to obtain my medications. I've been told to leave due to communication breakdowns, but in reality, no communication existed from the start. Today, I was informed I'm out of their boundary. What happens now? Despite being in severe chronic ill health and disabled, I've been treated like I'm invisible. The surgery has failed me in every conceivable way, which explains why they've been under special measures since March with zero improvements. ZERO STARS - IN FACT, NEGATIVE STARS! They're currently under investigation for numerous violations, including EMIS appointments that are 98% fabricated. For instance, a supposed 30-minute appointment with Dr. Cardwell on May 4th is completely false. In 7 months, I've only had two appointments on a single day, which isn't even accurately recorded. My severe health problems have worsened due to complete neglect. I've experienced zero care and zero communication from this failed surgery. Today, despite having days left in their service, I've been abruptly removed. EMIS is closed, and I can't even partially obtain my medications. I've never received my documentation, and they've comprehensively violated every NHS regulation.

Frustrating Registration Nightmare at Local GP

Absolutely worthless medical practice with incompetent staff. Their patient registration process is completely disorganized and misleading. I've been attempting to register my family for five months with zero progress. When I contacted their helpline, they confirmed that the local GP shouldn't have a waiting list, and the receptionist named Manddy was entirely bewildered during our interaction. She visibly tried to dodge speaking with the helpline, clearly aware that their registration procedures were improper. I ultimately learned from the CCG helpline that the practice is violating standard registration protocols, and they will be taking disciplinary action against this unprofessional medical center.

One Bright Doctor, Terrible Surgery

For an extended period, this medical practice has been consistently subpar. Fortunately, I was fortunate to encounter an exceptional physician (Dr M Speller) during my final stages of being registered, who genuinely went above and beyond to provide assistance. Regrettably, his efforts did not mitigate the abysmal service from administration, appointment accessibility, and overall functionality of this practice. I recommend examining the additional reviews, as from my perspective, they accurately reflect my family's encounters. Avoid registering here, as it is detrimental to both your physical and mental well-being, particularly if you have children.

Quick and Caring Cervical Screening at Dashwood Centre

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful team at the Dashwood Centre. After reaching out yesterday to reschedule my cervical screening, I was accommodated swiftly and seen this morning. Being my inaugural visit to this medical practice, I found the experience exceptionally pleasant. Although I cannot recall the name of the nurse who performed the procedure, she was incredibly competent and friendly. She thoroughly explained what would happen during and following the screening, and despite my typical anxiety around medical appointments, she immediately helped me feel comfortable and relaxed. A special acknowledgment to her exceptional care! My sincere thanks once more.
