Patient Experience Summary

Feedback on this practice reveals a deeply polarised patient experience with significant operational challenges alongside pockets of exceptional individual care. The most consistent concern across reviews centres on appointment access and waiting experiences, with patients reporting extended delays ranging from weeks to secure bookings, lengthy waits in reception areas even with scheduled appointments, and persistent difficulty reaching the practice by phone. Reception experience emerges as a major pain point, with multiple accounts of discourteous, dismissive, or unhelpful front desk interactions, though several patients specifically praised individual reception team members for their professionalism and warmth.

In contrast, the clinical nursing staff and certain individual practitioners receive consistent praise for compassion, responsiveness, and professional competence. Patients managing complex health conditions particularly valued attentive clinical care and proactive communication. However, concerns about care quality also appear, with some patients describing diagnostic oversights or dismissive clinical interactions. The practice's scheduling system—relying heavily on same-day walk-in clinics with restrictive morning booking windows and limited advance appointment availability—creates significant barriers for working patients and generates frustration around accessibility and organisation.

The overall picture suggests a practice struggling with systemic management and resource constraints, where individual staff members' dedication cannot fully compensate for structural service delivery problems. Patients seeking alternative providers cite appointment availability, communication responsiveness, and reception courtesy as primary drivers of their decisions to leave.

Unprofessional healthcare with zero patient compassion

Absolutely dreadful system with a deplorable attitude! The staff demonstrates zero genuine concern for patients. Their primary focus seems to be solely on maintaining their paychecks, with no real empathy or commitment to patient care. Dr. M. Selvarajan is particularly egregious, strutting around with an inflated sense of self-importance, behaving as if he's some untouchable, godlike figure!

Terrible healthcare service fails patient completely

The service here is utterly appalling. My wife required immediate medical attention, and they promised to contact her yesterday, but no call ever came. I attempted to escalate the matter by requesting to speak with the manager, only to be told she's working remotely and we must submit a formal letter before she'll even engage with us. We're now seriously considering legal action. I strongly advise others to steer clear of this terrible establishment. They demonstrate zero concern for their patients.

Frustrating service and inefficient prescription process

Whenever I attempt to contact their office, the front desk staff are incredibly slow to answer the phone. To obtain a simple prescription, I'm forced to make multiple in-person visits, which is extremely frustrating.

Terrible service drives loyal patient away forever

I've been a patient at this medical practice since relocating to Bolton, and it's absolutely ridiculous. The only reason we remained was because Jannette was exceptional, but now that she's retired, we'll need to seek healthcare elsewhere! I've been waiting a week for a telephone consultation, which is now mandatory before any in-person appointment, and I can't even get through because they keep disconnecting my calls. All I'm attempting to do is confirm whether I'm still scheduled for the phone consultation that was supposed to happen on Tuesday. I've been trying to reach them since this morning, and it's now 4:30 - what an absolute farce!!!

Dangerous ice trap waiting to trip you

The parking area is completely blanketed in a thick layer of ice. No effort has been made to remove the snow from the previous weekend, and due to the cold temperatures, the snow has solidified into a treacherous, slippery surface. It might be perfect for an impromptu skating experience, but it's absolutely terrible for individuals with mobility challenges.

Compassionate care and attentive medical professionals

Fantastic healthcare facility in my opinion, the physicians are exceptional and genuinely attentive to patients' concerns. I've had multiple appointments this year, and the entire team, from front desk personnel to medical professionals, has been incredibly supportive and responsive, even during busy periods. They consistently provide excellent care and maintain a high standard of service - my sincere appreciation goes out to them.

Confusing and frustrating medical communication nightmare

Appalling customer service experience when I called to inquire about a blood test text. I was shuffled around, repeatedly asked for my date of birth because the staff member was simultaneously handling another patient's case. The communication was frustratingly disjointed and unprofessional.

Terrible doctor ruins great medical practice

Complete disaster! Saeed and Janette have been fantastic throughout my time at this practice, but the doctor is consistently tardy, interrupts before I can describe my concerns, displays a dismissive attitude, talks down to patients, and creates unnecessary complications when his role should be to provide support. This is my first review after being repeatedly dismissed by this physician. Without doubt, he's the most unprofessional medical professional I've ever encountered. I'm absolutely switching surgeries!

Great medical practice with caring staff

Since relocating to a different medical practice and then returning, I've consistently found the reception team to be incredibly supportive. Jeanette stands out as particularly excellent, and Saheed is consistently warm and highly competent in his role. The pharmacy's system for handling repeat prescriptions is impressively efficient and the staff are very accommodating.

Terrible customer service and lack of empathy

Completely unacceptable service right now. Typically, I don't experience problems, but I've been waiting 25 minutes just to have someone pick up the phone. As someone struggling with mental health, their impersonal approach made me feel like nothing more than an anonymous entry on a document, which was deeply hurtful. Despite these issues, Shaeed and Jeanette are always exceptional whenever I interact with them.

Fantastic healthcare with caring and attentive staff

Over my 15-year experience, I can confidently say I've had no significant issues with this medical practice. Saheed, Jeanette, and the front desk staff have consistently been fantastic. The only minor drawback is the postcode-related challenge with test strip availability. While wait times can be lengthy, I've experienced far longer delays in A&E departments. Although getting an appointment with the main doctor can be tricky due to high demand, the nursing team is incredibly supportive. Whenever they're uncertain about something, they promptly consult the doctor, who almost always comes to personally examine you, ensuring comprehensive care.

Exceptional healthcare with professional and caring staff

Throughout my decade-long experience with this practice, I've consistently found the receptionists, pharmacy staff, and doctors like Dr Selverajan to be exceptionally professional and patient-focused. I've also been seen by Saeed and Janette, who have always maintained the highest standards of care. While there can be waiting times, this is entirely typical within the NHS - and understandably so, given we have one of the world's most remarkable healthcare systems. I'm perplexed by negative Google reviews that lack substantive evidence and seem purely reactionary. In my view, if someone encounters an issue, the sensible approach is to discuss it directly with the medical staff. On the single occasion I had a minor complaint, the doctor resolved it immediately and thoroughly. Those criticizing the clinic for appointment availability seem unreasonable - the NHS is overwhelmed with patient demand, and emergency slots are readily available if you call early. I've never experienced difficulty contacting them by phone. It's crucial to remember that medical professionals possess expertise far beyond the average person's understanding, and patients should trust their professional guidance. Overall, the Deane Clinic provides excellent, compassionate healthcare.

Terrible service and discriminatory staff at clinic

Absolutely the most terrible general practitioner's office I've encountered. The front desk staff, particularly those of Indian descent, display an appalling attitude—they're hostile, disrespectful, and demonstrate clear discriminatory behavior. They aggressively yell at patients and deliberately create obstacles, making the entire experience as challenging and unpleasant as possible.

Terrible clinic with unhelpful staff and chaos

The absolute worst medical practice in Bolton. The clinic is gloomy and depressing. With only one doctor, securing an appointment is practically impossible, and the receptionists are incredibly unhelpful, frequently failing to answer calls or providing misleading information. Case in point: when I had a serious medical concern, the receptionist instructed me to call at 9am sharp. When I called at 9:02am, I was told the clinic was fully booked and advised to call earlier. The next day, calling at 8:30am, I was again deemed too late. If you attempt to schedule a regular appointment, they discourage you, suggesting the walk-in clinic instead, but then you'll never actually get seen. They never apologize and often make you feel responsible for their dysfunctional system. Whether they're mandated to use this approach or choose it voluntarily, it's clearly not working. The sole bright spot is the nurses, who are professional and competent when you eventually manage to see someone. The doctor is skilled too, but visibly overworked and rushing through consultations. While I sympathize with his situation, he needs to improve the practice's management, starting with better receptionists and potentially hiring another doctor. Unsurprisingly, I've since switched and immediately experienced a far more reliable and smooth healthcare service at my current GP, even during the COVID pandemic. I deliberately delayed writing this review to determine if all GP practices were similarly challenging, but my new practice has been exceptional, with friendly staff providing top-notch service before and during the pandemic. Strongly advise avoiding Deane Clinic.

Terrible medical service that left me frustrated

Absolute nightmare of a medical facility in the United Kingdom. The front desk staff lacks basic courtesy, and they operate with just a single physician who consistently runs behind schedule. When I attempted to schedule a check-up for my infant, they were completely unhelpful, claiming the doctor was away on a month-long vacation. To make matters worse, even after managing to secure an appointment, they repeatedly contact me at the last minute to reschedule, causing immense frustration and inconvenience.
