Repeat prescriptions handled efficiently and smoothly

Deerness Park is an excellent practice. We are a family of 7 adults and 5 young children. Over many years we have required assistance from the practice staff on numerous occasions and have consistently received outstanding service from everyone. The clinical team demonstrate genuine care, attentiveness and provide their professional expertise for any health concerns. Their approach to caring for children is particularly noteworthy. The reception team are always accommodating and the repeat prescription service operates with impressive efficiency. The previous appointment system could be frustrating at times, but this has now been significantly enhanced through the introduction of an improved online consultation system. When a condition requires an urgent same-day appointment, we are accommodated promptly. When this is not necessary, the alternative guidance provided has proven helpful. I would strongly recommend this practice to others and am grateful to all staff members for their commitment and compassionate approach to patient care.

Reception staff were dismissive and patronising

It is unfortunate that I cannot rate this practice more highly, as my interactions with the reception team have been consistently disappointing. Attempting to secure an appointment has proven to be an extremely difficult process. Customer service does not appear to be a priority, as staff communication often feels condescending and dismissive. There seems to be an assumption that difficulties stem from patients rather than the practice itself. The practice displays notices throughout regarding their zero-tolerance policy, though this may not address underlying service issues. When attempting to return calls from the practice, staff seem unclear about the reason for contact. Previous patient feedback appears to reflect similar concerns. Additionally, if you are unable to answer a call due to work commitments, you are required to restart the entire appointment booking process from the beginning.

I have been a patient at this practice for many decades and have consistently had positive experiences with all the staff members. I have always been able to obtain appointments when required. The reception team have always been pleasant and accommodating. I would not consider changing my GP practice.

Reception staff unhelpful during child's medical emergency

This practice fell well short of expectations. The team members were not helpful, and during a concerning medical incident involving my child, the reception staff appeared unresponsive and did not offer assistance. We ultimately required emergency services to transport my child to hospital for admission. The clinical staff were similarly disappointing. One particular clinician's manner across multiple appointments came across as dismissive and reluctant to engage. This approach was unprofessional and concerning.

The practice's systems proved frustrating to navigate. When attempting to request a repeat prescription through the NHS app, I found that the function was unavailable, similar to the appointment booking feature.
