Management culture left me feeling unheard and unsupported

I would strongly advise against using this practice. The working environment appears to have significant issues that begin at leadership level. While the nursing team are pleasant, the clinical staff and administrative leadership have negatively affected my health outcomes. 1. Clinical Concerns & Patient Care Knowledge Gaps: A senior clinician stated that a commonly prescribed medication does not exist, rather than consulting reference materials to verify this information. Specialist Dismissal: A GP partner expressed skepticism about a diagnosis provided by a secondary care specialist. Rather than conducting their own assessment, they declined to see me in person and instead offered alternative treatment that proved less effective. Appointment Disruptions: I was asked to leave a consultation partway through because a clinician needed to take an urgent call. 2. Management Issues & Professional Standards Workplace Culture: The administrative leadership contributes to an unprofessional environment. I experienced demeaning communication and was shouted at during a phone conversation. Response to Concerns: When I raised an issue regarding a prescription error that resulted in incorrect charges, the response involved threats regarding my medication access rather than resolution. Complaint Handling: Feedback and complaints appear to be met with defensiveness rather than constructive responses, with no apparent adherence to established feedback procedures. 3. Mental Health Support Concerns This practice is not suitable for those requiring mental health care. I felt judged for continuing antidepressant medication during a difficult period. Staff interactions were unsupportive and dismissive, with repeated pressure to discontinue treatment. I consistently left appointments feeling unheard and unsupported. My main regret is not leaving sooner. This practice does not provide the standard of empathetic or competent care that patients deserve.

Difficult to book appointments despite quiet surgery

Following a recent diagnosis involving metabolic and cardiovascular concerns, I began taking medications to manage blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Shortly after starting treatment, I experienced significant chest discomfort. Upon investigating the medication information, I found that chest pain was listed as a potential side effect. I contacted the practice seeking guidance but was informed that no one was available to speak with me and was directed to call 111 instead. After speaking with 111, I was advised to discontinue the medication and arrange an appointment at the surgery. The whole situation felt incredibly frustrating and circular. I was unable to secure an appointment or speak with a clinician on the day I called. The practice does not offer advance booking for appointments on my days off. Instead, I was told I would need to call on the morning of my day off and join a queue to request an appointment, or alternatively call the day before to arrange a telephone consultation for the following day. I find it puzzling why accessing appointments has become so challenging. I have visited the surgery a couple of times in recent months and noticed it appeared relatively quiet on both occasions. I struggle to understand why obtaining an appointment or speaking to someone other than reception staff has been made to feel so difficult.

Prescription delays and poor parking access

My former partner waited from Friday until Tuesday for a prescription that the practice indicated had been sent, but it never arrived. The pharmacy confirmed they checked their records back to Thursday with no trace of it on their system. Access to the surgery proved difficult due to numerous vehicles parked on the pavement, making it impossible for someone with mobility difficulties to attend in person. When I contacted the practice, they were closed for staff training until mid-afternoon, which felt like poor timing. The situation was frustrating, particularly given that the practice and pharmacy are located in the same building just metres apart, yet seemed unable to communicate effectively about the prescription.

Finally got the referral after months of waiting

I honestly cannot thank the practice team enough! After a considerable time, I was eventually referred for an issue which should have been addressed sooner. The nursing staff have looked after me so well with advice and support through all my care needs and concerns. They are wonderful professionals and I now prefer to see them for my appointments. Thanks so much, I really appreciate everything they've done for me. They deserve the highest rating!

Reception staff were genuinely kind and helpful

My son was initially told he required spectacles, but it took seeking guidance elsewhere at an urgent care centre before leukaemia was identified. When I reported that my daughter had symptoms of a urinary tract infection, the practice first provided a negative result, then suggested it might be a kidney infection, before eventually confirming it was a urinary tract infection. It took five days before antibiotics were prescribed. The reception team were pleasant and helpful, which is the only reason this review isn't lower.

Examined but left without answers or explanation

Attended an appointment regarding swelling in one limb that occurs overnight and is particularly pronounced upon waking, causing significant pain and restricting movement and function. Also experiencing discomfort in another limb. During the examination, no explanation was provided regarding the cause of the symptoms, and a supportive garment was prescribed. Prior to the appointment, photographic evidence of the swelling at its most severe was submitted. Despite the in-person consultation and previous documentation, no clear diagnosis or explanation has been provided. The ongoing pain combined with the lack of clarity about what is causing these symptoms is concerning and distressing.

It appears that responses to feedback may be selective. I have been waiting considerably longer than expected for a resolution to my complaint. This approach seems unprofessional. Called this morning to book an appointment and was greeted by a courteous and professional receptionist who managed to schedule me in for later that same day with a nurse at the practice. Upon arrival, I explained what I needed assistance with and found the healthcare professional to be comprehensive in their approach and genuinely pleasant to interact with.
