Patient Experience Summary

Feedback on this medical practice reveals a deeply divided patient experience. Many patients report consistently positive interactions, particularly praising the reception team for courtesy and professionalism, alongside compassionate medical care and responsive service. Long-term patients frequently highlight efficient appointment access and supportive staff who demonstrate genuine commitment to patient wellbeing.

However, a substantial proportion of feedback describes significant service challenges. Appointment availability emerges as a persistent concern, with patients reporting difficulty securing consultations, limited booking windows, and unclear communication about availability. Reception experience varies considerably, with some patients describing staff as unhelpful or discourteous, whilst others experience the opposite. Several patients note frustration with waiting times, communication barriers, and what they perceive as indifferent staff attitudes.

Key operational issues include restrictive registration timeframes, unclear online communication, and appointment booking systems that patients find inefficient. Some patients report concerns about continuity of care and lack of responsiveness to urgent requests. The practice's physical setup, including window-based reception during certain periods, has generated feedback about patient comfort and privacy. Whilst many patients express confidence in the service and medical professionalism, others indicate they are seeking alternative providers due to their experiences.

Bad!

Terrible healthcare experience with unhelpful medical staff

The absolute rock-bottom customer service, paired with completely incompetent personnel. Scheduling an appointment is a nightmare, and if you arrive with an infant, their first dismissive comment will be about your child's condition instead of a basic greeting, clearly aiming to rush you out. Their medical assessments are nothing more than amateur speculation, essentially turning a professional medical practice into a glorified online search result. The so-called "Google GP" approach is infuriating!

Terrible doctors who made me cry and frustrated

I have never encountered more discourteous and unprofessional physicians in my entire life. Doctors M Kwan and C Kwan, during separate consultations, demonstrated appalling bedside manner. Dr. C Kwan flatly refused to prescribe antibiotics for my daughter, forcing me to practically plead for an ENT referral due to her recurring tonsillitis. The following day, Dr. Patel immediately confirmed the clear need for antibiotics. Today, Dr. M Kwan was so callous that I was reduced to tears during another visit regarding my daughter's repeated tonsillitis (her previous episode was in September). When I became emotional, I was coldly told "not to cry." I explicitly stated that I have never experienced such disrespectful doctors who treat patients like inconveniences and visibly display contempt through eye-rolling. I could elaborate extensively on their unprofessional conduct. It's utterly shameful and unacceptable. As a direct consequence of these experiences, I am definitively leaving this medical practice.

Trusted medical centre through decades of care

Throughout my extensive five-decade relationship with this medical centre, I've found their service consistently exceptional. Even during periods when I resided elsewhere and explored alternative healthcare providers, I've never encountered another practice offering same-day appointments or late-night consultations with such ease. The centre adapted effectively during the COVID pandemic, and my family and I have consistently received excellent care and attention.

Terrible doctors misdiagnose and dismiss patient concerns

The front desk staff are wonderful, but I take issue with the medical professionals. If you voice any concerns, they immediately label you as schizophrenic, which is an extremely harmful and dismissive diagnosis. As a result, I am now choosing to seek care elsewhere.

Terrible healthcare that failed me completely

I've experienced multiple problems with this medical practice. They appear completely indifferent. They consistently ignore patients. I was phoning daily during a mental health crisis, repeatedly being told actions were being taken. However, each follow-up revealed nothing had actually been documented. This surgery has profoundly disappointed me. One receptionist even accused me of lying when I desperately called seeking medical support during a mental health emergency. I called while crying, and they promised a doctor would contact me later. Hours passed with no communication, and when I called again, the staff claimed I hadn't even called earlier that day. I was distraught, questioning their professional commitment and describing their behavior as outright negligent. Previously, another GP dismissively told me to "tough it out" regarding my mental health struggles, during a severe suicidal period. Their casual advice was to take beta blockers and simply avoid overdosing. This practice has become utterly dysfunctional. The list of their failings could continue extensively.

Terrible service and zero medical professionalism

I'd advise steering clear of this place, as the staff are completely ineffective and disinterested. They seem more committed to brewing tea than providing any actual assistance. They fabricate claims about their services and essentially try to dismiss you. To get any attention, you're forced to approach the reception window and publicly announce your identity and reasons for being there, essentially exposing your personal details in front of strangers. If you're comfortable broadcasting your medical concerns to an entire street, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend finding an alternative.

Exceptional healthcare and compassionate service always

I've been a patient at this practice for close to a decade, and throughout this time, my family and I have consistently experienced courteous treatment whenever we've reached out, whether for medication refills, administrative matters, or scheduling appointments. The reception staff have invariably been kind and supportive, while the medical professionals - doctors, nurses, and healthcare assistants - have always ensured I feel at ease and confident during consultations. Recognizing the immense challenges currently facing healthcare workers, I felt compelled to acknowledge and appreciate the tremendous effort and dedication you all demonstrate. My sincere thanks!

Disappointing medical centre with poor patient care

Unfortunately, Dr Balachandran's Medical Centre has significantly deteriorated from its previous standards. Patient care quality has plummeted, with everything now handled through e-consult, which works well for younger, tech-savvy individuals but can be overwhelming for those less comfortable with technology. While you can still phone the practice, the new automated service is extremely time-consuming, and most options prevent you from actually speaking with staff. If you wait too long on a recommended option, the system automatically disconnects. While I understand COVID-19 preventative measures, the practice's front window approach is incredibly inconvenient. For someone with hearing difficulties like myself, attempting to understand muffled conversations is frustrating, and personal details are potentially exposed to waiting patients and passersby. Today, I witnessed an appalling interaction: an elderly couple arrived for an appointment, and the receptionist rudely instructed the lady, who was using crutches, to exit and use the window. Though they eventually assisted her, this was only after dramatically demanding, "Do you have a mask?!" While COVID precautions are important, professionalism and respect should prevail. When the gentleman accompanied his wife and was told to leave, he politely explained he was there to assist her. Remarkably, another patient intervened when the receptionist attempted to force this elderly man outside in freezing December temperatures. Ironically, staff weren't following their own protocols - nurses and receptionists weren't wearing masks or maintaining social distancing. My recent visits consistently involve significant delays. Today, I waited 30 minutes past my 9:20am appointment, despite the practice opening at 8:45am. While emergency situations are understandable, basic communication about potential delays would be appreciated. Internal communication is severely lacking. Multiple times, I've been told doctors haven't made notes or seem unaware of my visit's purpose, instead discussing irrelevant previous consultations. I hold little hope for improvement. The staff consistently demonstrate rudeness and a complete lack of patient empathy. Dr Balachandran must address these fundamental, fixable practice issues.

Terrible medical practice with unhelpful staff

This medical practice is absolutely terrible. The front desk staff display shocking levels of disrespect. They demonstrate complete indifference towards patients. I strongly recommend finding an alternative healthcare provider, which I myself am planning to do imminently. I submitted an appointment request via their online system and received zero response for several days. Upon telephoning to inquire about the status, I was merely told they might contact me regarding potential appointment availability. The service is beyond unacceptable - it's catastrophically bad. "Awful" doesn't even begin to describe how dreadful this experience has been.

Terrible gp service with zero compassion or professionalism

I've encountered the most incompetent GP in London, and I wish I could award them negative stars. I'm forced to give one star for this review. The GP is completely unprofessional and discourteous. I was struggling with a prolonged voice loss and couldn't secure an in-person consultation, being limited to an online appointment and waiting for their call. How absurd is it to expect a phone consultation when I've lost my voice? Their appointment system is infuriating - every time I try to book, the receptionist tells me to call back at 9am tomorrow because today's slots are full. Why can't they book tomorrow's appointments in advance? Why should I waste time making multiple calls? As a full-time taxpayer contributing to the NHS, the service I received is shamefully inadequate. They absolutely do not merit their salary. The GP provided a phone prescription, which I followed by purchasing medicine from Boots, only to develop a full-body allergic reaction. What kind of medical professional does that? My strongest recommendation is to avoid this GP practice entirely - they are completely unhelpful and potentially dangerous!

The customer service is absolutely abysmal, with an apparent atmosphere of indifference among the employees. Despite constantly having fully booked appointment slots, the facility seems surprisingly vacant when you manage to secure a visit. This is hands down the most inadequate medical practice I've encountered, and I cannot stress enough how strongly I advise against choosing this healthcare provider.

Disappointing medical care at local gp surgery

I'm deeply disappointed with this medical practice that I've been visiting since childhood. The quality of care has never been as poor as it is now. It's virtually impossible to secure a face-to-face consultation or even speak directly with my regular GP, Dr. B. While some receptionists are pleasant, others are incredibly unhelpful. The overall service is terrible, with a clear sense that nobody truly cares anymore. Appointment slots are always supposedly full, yet the waiting room remains suspiciously empty if you manage to get through. Getting an appointment with Dr. B is more challenging than gaining entry to Buckingham Palace and meeting the Queen. It breaks my heart to witness how drastically this medical practice has deteriorated over time.

Terrible healthcare with zero patient care or consistency

If possible, seek medical care elsewhere - I strongly advise it. Unfortunately, I'm trapped here. Consider this a warning. I've never managed to see the same physician twice, and I deliberately minimize my interactions. Their approach appears to be 'prescribe quickly and dismiss' - clearly, with such crowded conditions, any sense of compassionate care is completely absent. Additionally, regardless of which front desk staff you encounter, expect to be made to feel utterly incompetent and insignificant.
