Staff took time to listen and care properly

A clinician at this practice is absolutely amazing. My children really enjoy seeing them. They have been quick to act during a family health emergency, and have shown care and understanding across different age groups. Whenever they see one of our family members, they ask how everyone else is doing. They take their time and listen carefully, never dismissive, but instead provide detailed and very caring attention. Initially I was hesitant about the surgery and reluctant to contact them. Since this clinician has been here, I feel they have made a significant positive difference, and the improvement has been remarkable. I could not recommend them highly enough. They exemplify the kind of care all healthcare professionals should provide.

Receptionists doing their best with strict limits

Five stars for the reception team. Based on my own experience, I understand this has been a source of frustration for many patients. The reception staff are simply following the procedures they have been instructed to implement. It must be equally frustrating for them in their role. They previously had greater flexibility in what they could assist with. Currently, the system appears to operate on a very rigid basis. This is not a reflection of their efforts or attitude.

The reception staff at this surgery come across as quite abrupt and dismissive, often seeming keen to end calls rather quickly. Staff smoking on shared property needs addressing

I have never attended this surgery, but I am concerned about ongoing behaviour involving a member of staff who appears to be smoking regularly on privately owned property adjacent to the practice. Those of us who live or work in the area, including those with businesses sharing the nearby car park, feel this is problematic. We believe that if staff members wish to smoke, they should do so in a designated area that belongs to the surgery rather than on private land. We are frustrated that this situation continues on a daily basis. We have documented this matter with photographs and video evidence. If this issue is not resolved, we are considering reporting it to the relevant local authority, as we feel the behaviour constitutes trespass on private property.

Receptionists dismissive when booking appointments

This GP practice has not met my expectations. The reception staff have come across as unwelcoming, and obtaining appointments has proven difficult. During my consultations, I felt the clinical approach was not tailored to my individual concerns, and I was disappointed by what I perceived as a lack of engagement with my health matters. On one occasion when I called to request an appointment, I overheard staff members having a personal conversation rather than focusing on the call, and I found the manner in which calls are answered to be quite abrupt. I feel the practice would benefit from improved communication training for all team members. I have since found another local practice that I feel provides a more satisfactory experience.

In 2020 I switched to a different local GP surgery as my family and I were quite dissatisfied with our previous healthcare provider. Although we had reservations about making the change, we have been very pleased with our decision since then. I feel fortunate to have found a clinician who is genuinely compassionate and exceptionally knowledgeable. What particularly stands out is the amount of time taken to develop a thorough understanding of my health concerns—I never feel hurried, unlike my previous experiences. The approach involves taking time to ensure all my questions are addressed carefully, and working collaboratively to tackle health issues rather than simply prescribing solutions. Throughout my interactions, I have consistently experienced empathy and genuine care, along with a distinctive and memorable manner of communication. Overall, this has been the most competent healthcare experience I have had, and at 65 years old, I wish there were more professionals demonstrating such thoughtfulness and compassion towards patients. I am genuinely grateful for the quality of care I have received and the positive difference it has made.
