Charged for appointment but pain remained unresolved

I attended an urgent dental appointment due to tooth discomfort. I was charged for the consultation, however no treatment was provided. The dental professional explained that imaging did not reveal an obvious issue, and suggested the problem could be related to a structural concern or an underlying matter beneath existing dental work, but indicated that drilling would not be performed. I found this frustrating, as I paid for the visit while experiencing pain and departed still in discomfort. I would appreciate reimbursement for this appointment.

Emergency appointment handled but decay not fully cleared

I attended an appointment during an out-of-hours session experiencing severe dental discomfort. I was informed that a root treatment would be necessary and that there was no active infection present. The practitioner indicated they had removed the decay, applied medication, and placed a temporary filling, advising me to follow up with my regular dentist the following day. However, I subsequently consulted with three additional dental practitioners, including a specialist centre, who indicated that not all of the decay had been removed and that decay remained in contact with the nerve, which they suggested was the cause of my ongoing severe pain. They recommended that the treatment needed to be redone and completed properly. I have experienced persistent pain for a week following the initial appointment.

My daughter recently had a crown fitted and fillings placed on her primary teeth, and the service was excellent. Throughout the entire procedure, she remained completely comfortable and showed no signs of distress. I wish my own dental visits could be as pleasant as hers was! Experienced severe dental discomfort this evening and contacted the out-of-hours service, who promptly arranged an emergency appointment. An X-ray was taken of the affected area, which showed no abnormalities, and a soothing protective treatment was applied that successfully relieved the pain. My visit was an extremely disappointing experience. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming from the moment I arrived, starting with the reception staff and continuing through my interaction with the clinical team. When I was called through, the staff member who greeted me left without clear direction, requiring me to search for where I needed to be. During the appointment itself, I felt the clinician was dismissive of my concerns. When I expressed discomfort, I was told what I was experiencing was pressure rather than pain, which felt invalidating and condescending. This made me feel unheard and upset, and I left the appointment in tears. To make matters worse, I received a call approximately an hour and a half after leaving regarding a payment query, which added to my frustration. Overall, the quality of care and communication fell significantly short of what I would expect, and the experience was more distressing than the original issue I came to address. I would encourage others to carefully consider their choice of provider.
