Patient feedback reveals a deeply divided experience at this practice, with significant operational challenges overshadowing clinical strengths. Access to services emerges as the dominant concern, with persistent difficulties reaching the practice by telephone, extremely long waiting times on hold, and severely limited appointment availability creating substantial barriers to care. Patients report struggling to book appointments through phone lines that frequently go unanswered, with some describing months of unsuccessful attempts to secure consultations. The booking experience is further complicated by limited digital options and a cumbersome online platform that many find difficult to navigate.
When patients do access care, the clinical experience receives more positive recognition. Medical professionals are frequently described as competent, compassionate, and attentive during consultations, with several patients praising the quality of medical advice and treatment provided. Reception staff courtesy is similarly highlighted as a strength in many accounts, with staff described as welcoming and helpful. However, these positive clinical interactions are substantially undermined by broader organisational inefficiency, including poor communication channels, lack of email contact options, and inadequate responsiveness to patient inquiries and referral requests.
The practice demonstrates significant inconsistency, with patient experiences varying considerably depending on which physician is consulted and when contact is attempted. While some patients report seamless appointment scheduling and excellent continuity of care, others describe the practice as fundamentally inaccessible and unresponsive to patient needs. This inconsistency, combined with the widespread access difficulties, suggests systemic organisational challenges that require substantial restructuring to meet patient expectations for a modern healthcare service.

Bad!
Dr sheefa's rushed and dismissive visit
I've been a patient at this practice for years, and Dr Amanda is absolutely fantastic. I typically avoid seeing other doctors, but she's always been incredible. Today's appointment with Dr Sheefa Khan was a complete disappointment. I came prepared with a comprehensive list of health concerns, but she was dismissive and disinterested. She constantly interrupted me and mentioned I was borderline diabetic from my last blood test, but unlike Dr Amanda, she didn't even check my blood sugar on the spot. When I described my sleep issues, she carelessly prescribed hayfever tablets, which I'd already explained didn't work. She didn't even properly explain the medication, just stating she'd send a prescription to Boots. I requested diazepam for my anxiety, sleep, and muscle pain, and she claimed I couldn't take it with my current medication, but couldn't provide a valid explanation - which I later discovered was incorrect. Frustrated and unresolved, I cut the appointment short. Her unprofessional demeanor and unkempt appearance made me feel like she'd been randomly pulled off the street. It's truly disappointing because Dr Amanda is such an exceptional, caring physician, and I feel conflicted about criticizing the practice.

No water for patients at clinic
A healthcare facility that fails to meet even the most fundamental patient needs is unacceptable. Patients are expected to purchase water from nearby shops, as casually suggested by the receptionist. Is providing clean drinking water truly such an insurmountable challenge? Shouldn't basic amenities like water be as standard as restroom facilities? I've adjusted my rating to 4 stars solely due to our exceptional interaction with Dr. Amanda. She's extraordinary, compassionate, and could genuinely serve as a role model for medical professionals on how to deliver quality patient care! Our previous encounter with Dr. Sheefa Khan was utterly disappointing. When we presented our concerns, she consistently deflected them with a dismissive "there's nothing really to be done". Instead of helping us identify the underlying issue, she repeatedly asked us about what we believed the cause might be. Her approach left us questioning the purpose of our consultation.

Waited an hour and got attitude
The service here was incredibly sluggish, and the elderly blonde receptionist was extremely discourteous. When I politely inquired about the delay, as my appointment was already 30 minutes overdue, she harshly instructed me to sit down. The overall level of care is abysmal - they seem completely indifferent and provide no meaningful assistance. I left feeling thoroughly frustrated and let down by the entire experience.

Dr Collins made my day better
Throughout my long-standing relationship with Eastbury Surgery, I have consistently been impressed by their outstanding service and patient care. While many medical practices struggle with appointment availability, this has never been an issue here. When urgent medical attention is required, they invariably find a way to schedule a prompt consultation. Over the years, I have consulted with numerous general practitioners at this surgery, and each has demonstrated remarkable professionalism and exceptional care. Dr Collins, who serves as my primary physician, stands out as particularly remarkable. Her compassionate approach and remarkable bedside manner are truly exceptional - she is consistently reassuring, kind, and supportive, always explaining medical details with remarkable clarity. Despite the well-known pressures facing NHS general practitioners and their typically demanding schedules, consultations with Dr Collins never feel hurried, whether conducted in-person or via telephone. My sincere appreciation goes to Eastbury Surgery for maintaining such high standards of medical care.

Quick jab denied just days before birthday
On 16th February 2025, I received a text from "NHS vaccine" asking me to schedule a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine appointment. I contacted Eastbury Surgery in Northwood Middlesex and was given an appointment for 4th March 2025. Upon arrival, the nurse informed me she would not administer the vaccine because I had not yet reached 75 years old. I pointed out that I would turn 75 in just three days (born 7th March 1950) and suggested it would be logical to vaccinate me immediately. Despite my reasoning, she declined and instructed me to return next week after my birthday. The bureaucratic absurdity seems straight out of a Kafka novel. This medical practice should develop more flexible protocols to avoid such nonsensical scenarios. Surely, in these circumstances, a bit of professional judgment and common sense would be beneficial?

Late again and no communication
I was scheduled for a 2:20 PM consultation, but by 2:50 PM, I approached the front desk to inquire about the delay. The receptionist explained that a meeting running since 1:30 PM was causing the holdup. What's unacceptable is that no effort was made to communicate the situation to patients waiting their turn. This level of disregard is shocking and perfectly illustrates why people lose faith in medical appointments. I arrived on time, yet the doctor clearly did not prioritize my scheduled visit.

Terbinafine made me sick and passed out
DREADFUL Medical Practice I have consistently experienced subpar treatment from Eastbury Surgery, with their service falling far below acceptable standards. In a past incident, I arrived for a blood test without the referral letter. Rather than verifying the required test through their system, the staff unnecessarily drew three blood samples instead of one, leading to my fainting. The nurse was subsequently investigated, with senior staff later extending an apology for the mishandling. I endured a prolonged fungal toenail infection where the practice repeatedly prescribed Terbinafine, which caused severe side effects. I personally advocated for Itraconazole, which ultimately proved effective. However, this medication demands periodic blood tests to monitor liver health. The GP completely failed to organize these essential tests, neglected medication renewal, and did not arrange any follow-up consultation. Additionally, communication with the surgery is virtually impossible. Their phone lines remain perpetually unanswered, they reject email communication, and their telephone system traps patients in endless waiting queues, frequently becoming completely non-functional. The quality of care is utterly unacceptable, leaving me feeling entirely disregarded and profoundly frustrated as a patient.

AverageWorst medical service I have attended
I have been repeatedly let down by Eastbury Surgery over the years due to their poor service and lack of proper care. A few years ago, I went for a blood test but forgot to bring the letter indicating which test was required. Instead of checking their computer system to identify the necessary test, the staff unnecessarily took three samples instead of one. This caused me to pass out, and the nurse involved was questioned by senior staff, who later apologized for the incident. For years, I suffered from a fungal toenail infection, and the surgery kept prescribing me Terbinafine, which made me very sick. I had to request Itraconazole myself, which eventually worked. However, this medication requires regular blood tests to monitor liver function. The GP failed to arrange any of these necessary blood tests, did not schedule any renewal of the medication, and neglected to arrange a follow-up appointment. On top of these issues, the surgery is almost impossible to contact. They do not answer phone calls, refuse to communicate by email, and insist on using a telephone system that places patients on hold, even when the system is often unavailable. This level of service is absolutely dreadful and has left me feeling neglected and frustrated as a patient.

Nightmare booking after 15 years of loyalty
I've been registered with this medical practice for over a decade and decided to schedule my first appointment, only to be made to feel like an absolute nuisance. The process of booking an appointment is incredibly challenging. It's no surprise that patients become frustrated and resort to emergency room visits. I hung up the phone feeling utterly disheartened and promptly transferred my medical records to a different general practice.
