Receptionists Ruin What Used to Be Good

You'd expect a return to normalcy post-pandemic, but instead, they've implemented this ridiculous telephone screening process that's completely out of step with how the rest of society is operating. The receptionists, in their typical condescending manner, are essentially acting as gatekeepers to medical care, wielding an inappropriate level of power over patient access. This used to be a quality medical practice before merging with Church Street and unfortunately adopting their staff's terrible attitude.

After battling a persistent cold and respiratory issue for nearly a month, I contacted the NHS 111 service, who suggested consulting my physician. My spouse attempted to schedule a consultation, but was informed they needed to speak with me directly. Upon my call, I was informed that no appointment would be granted, and a doctor would contact me only if deemed necessary. Ultimately, I concluded that visiting the hospital was my most viable solution. It's no mystery why so many individuals end up at the Accident and Emergency department when faced with such bureaucratic obstacles.

Waiting 20 Minutes to Be Told No Appointments

Giving just 1 star because that's the lowest possible rating. Called at 7:59 AM, stuck 10th in the queue, and the surgery doesn't even open until 8 - how does that work? Tried speaking with reception about seeing a doctor, only to get the runaround: "No appointments available, but a doctor will call you to schedule." An on-call physician rings back, and when I explain my situation, he says, "I'm just the emergency doctor, you need to book through reception." Right back where I started. Called reception again, now 12th in line, wasting another 20 minutes, only to be told no appointments are open until November? November?! When I stress my need to see a doctor today, they mumble and suggest a slot a week from now. Absolutely useless. This is a prime example of the NHS's complete dysfunction and total inability to provide basic healthcare. Looks like I'll have to pay privately - the service is utterly deplorable.

Quick ultrasound scan with no delays

Just to balance out a particularly negative review of this facility. I had an ultrasound scan scheduled today. Although it was further from my usual location, I rearranged my appointment here because the original slot in Ruddington was inconvenient. Being familiar with the area, I had no trouble finding the place. There's no dedicated parking, so I parked on a nearby street. This wasn't really an issue. The only minor challenge was the check-in process - and that was due to other patients, not the staff. My own medical practice experiences similar situations when people refuse to use online booking and instead engage receptionists in lengthy conversations instead of simply accepting the offered appointment. After the first two of three people ahead of me finished their discussions (taking over 10 minutes), I was checked in within 10 seconds. I would have been processed even faster if not for these other patients occupying the reception desk. My appointment was precisely on time, and the scan was performed quickly and professionally. There are absolutely no problems with this medical center. It closely resembles my Ruddington center in terms of efficiency, cleanliness, comfort, and overall quality. It also shares the same challenges with patients causing unnecessary delays at the reception desk - which is not the facility's fault. I truly sympathize with the receptionist who must endure patients unfairly blaming her for their own inconveniences.
