On March 27th, I was informed that the soonest available "urgent care" slot was April 20th, with the alternative of arriving at 08:00. I opted for the early morning option and, despite a substantial line, managed to reach the front desk by 8:17. They scheduled me for a 10am appointment, which wasn't entirely inconvenient.

Endless calls, zero appointments

Securing a medical appointment has become an insurmountable challenge. The physician refuses to renew my medication without a face-to-face consultation. Routine slots are unavailable for three weeks, which means I'll exhaust my prescription before then. This morning, I dialed 65 times with zero 'same day' availability. The receptionist mechanically redirects patients to the 'Patient Access' online portal. Upon navigating this convoluted system, the only bookable services are a Polio vaccination or a Smear test. Clearly, this digital redirection is a transparent tactic to deflect phone inquiries. Another 20 minutes spent in a seemingly endless queue results in being informed that the appointment diary is currently being updated, rendering routine bookings impossible. This frustrating cycle continues unabated. The National Health Service has become so dysfunctional that it's practically unserviceable for working individuals. Ironically, arranging a meeting with Putin in the Kremlin might prove less complicated.

Contacting their support is a complete nightmare. Getting hold of a representative seems virtually unattainable, and even if you miraculously connect, you're stuck in a perpetual waiting line that never progresses. I wasted more than sixty minutes in their queue this week, watching my position crawl from 8th to 7th, and ultimately abandoned all hope of getting assistance.

Urgent diabetes test strips prescription mess

As a Type 1 diabetic, I rely on manually checking my blood glucose levels with a single-use test strip device, alongside insulin injections before meals - these are absolutely critical for my survival. On Monday, February 15th, I was running low on test strips and always aim to request my prescription well in advance to prevent running out. When I contacted the pharmacy today (Friday 19th), they informed me they hadn't received my order. Upon calling Elm House, the receptionist revealed that my doctors had rejected my repeat prescription!!! I now have test strips that will barely last until the end of Saturday. How is this remotely acceptable?! You're literally gambling with someone's life!! Simply because I submitted my order two weeks ahead of time? I didn't realize diabetics are only permitted a limited number of daily tests before doctors arbitrarily cut off supplies without even attempting to contact me, thereby potentially endangering my life. Had they bothered to review my records, they would've seen I recently received the Oxford vaccine and have been experiencing difficulties maintaining stable glucose levels, necessitating more frequent testing. "Disgusted" doesn't even begin to describe my feelings. I'll definitely be consulting Citizens Advice about this unacceptable situation.

Elm House deserves nothing but commendation. Throughout the past three years of my interactions, I've consistently been satisfied with their service. While I can't specify individual medical professionals or front desk personnel, I've always found them comprehensive and highly competent. Admittedly, securing a same-day consultation can be challenging, but once you connect via telephone, the reception staff are incredibly helpful - they even suggest telephone consultations, which have been perfectly suitable for my needs. This morning, I called at 8:20am and was promptly offered a 10am slot. Feeling under the weather, I arrived and was seen in under 5 minutes (just before 10am). I received a thorough examination, got a diagnosis, and collected my antibiotics from the nearby pharmacy. Absolutely no cause for criticism.

I've only been registered with this medical practice for just over a month, but they've already demonstrated exceptional efficiency. My repeat prescriptions were smoothly transferred from my previous practice within a week, and I could easily request them through the NHS app. The prescription arrived at my chosen pharmacy within 24 hours. My contraceptive pill consultation was conducted via telephone with the nurse, and again the prescription was processed immediately. Following my initial GP consultation, I was promptly referred for blood tests and scans, and received the appointment email within just 8 hours! I genuinely can't comprehend the negative feedback some individuals have posted? They're likely frustrated that the doctor won't automatically prescribe paracetamol and E45 cream. I am incredibly grateful to the entire team at Elm House for their outstanding service. You're truly representing the best of the NHS.

Dismissive staff ignored my painful warts

Completely useless service. Before I could even describe my medical concern, I was abruptly informed no appointments were available. Instead of seeing a proper doctor, I was directed to a non-GP professional while seeking a referral for a dermatology consultation about rapidly growing, bleeding warts. To make matters worse, I received a text from a GP I had never met, suggesting I pay privately to have the warts removed, claiming the NHS won't handle this. Absolute nonsense!
