Staff are hit and miss here

I'm genuinely puzzled about the hiring process at this place - the staff quality is incredibly inconsistent. Some reception staff are outstanding, while others are shockingly unprofessional. The amazing team members include Kay, who's absolutely essential to the operation, Velma who's brilliant, Amanda who's incredibly helpful and friendly, Hilima who's kind and supportive, and Kelly who always follows up thoughtfully. These ladies demonstrate a level of commitment rarely seen in NHS services nowadays. Conversely, certain staff members are appalling. Sarah appears arrogant and dismissive, looking down her nose condescendingly. Claudia has delivered the rudest interaction I've ever experienced within the NHS - and I mean ever! Ruby is completely ineffective, seemingly only interested in brushing patients off without genuine listening or care. I requested to speak with the practice manager, Seema Hauque, but never received a callback. Frustrated beyond tolerance, I've reported this to NHS England and ultimately left the practice. I can unequivocally state that this surgery has caused me more distress than assistance. Their appointment system is fundamentally broken - constant "call backs" with no actual resolution. We taxpayers absolutely do not pay our contributions to be treated with such disrespect and negligence.

The receptionists at Essex lodge surgery are arguably the most discourteous I've encountered in the UK. Their behavior is appallingly unprofessional. They consistently interrupt patients, showing zero respect during conversations. Their communication skills are abysmal, with staff members like Claudia and Sarah displaying an exceptionally condescending and hostile attitude. This surgery has significantly compromised my wife's medical care. The only redeeming qualities are a few competent doctors such as Dr. Chowdhury and Dr. Awal. However, the remaining staff are consistently disrespectful, unhelpful, and demonstrate a shocking lack of professionalism. Their current reputation speaks volumes about their substandard service. Unless they make immediate and substantial improvements in staff conduct, this medical practice risks imminent closure.

This general practitioner is a complete farce. They perpetually have excuses instead of taking responsibility. My test results were held up for a fortnight while they denied receiving them, forcing me to repeatedly contact the hospital, who were themselves astonished by the GP's incompetence. Even the doctor promised to investigate but failed to follow through. Their lack of basic courtesy is astounding - unable to offer a simple apology but more than capable of being discourteous during phone interactions. It seems patients are expected to manage every single administrative task themselves. Anticipate getting anything accomplished at an incredibly sluggish pace, roughly ten times slower than acceptable.

They thoroughly examined me, listened carefully to my concerns, ensured proper follow-up, and arranged necessary referrals. Dr. Aktar, a female physician, was particularly noteworthy. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the name of the male doctor. Additionally, Lisa at the front desk demonstrates remarkable professionalism. Going forward, I intend to keep track of receptionist names, as one specific individual is remarkably discourteous and tends to abruptly terminate phone conversations before patients can fully express themselves.

Kay's terrible patient treatment

Review specifically focused on receptionist KAY. She seems to believe she can escape accountability for her completely unacceptable behavior towards me. A receptionist has absolutely no justification for being so disrespectful to patients, and I've personally witnessed her mistreating multiple patients in person! She abruptly terminated our phone call when I began recording it (which I am legally permitted to do) - this only happened because she consistently interrupted me, preventing me from speaking and attempting to misrepresent my statements. Moreover, during an in-person interaction, she maintained her unprofessional demeanor and even resorted to dishonesty. She claimed no manager was available, yet one appeared within seconds. She initially denied hanging up on me, then subsequently admitted doing so because I started recording. As a mental health patient at this practice, her actions could have seriously jeopardized my well-being. If someone is so dissatisfied with their job and harbors such negativity, they should simply resign instead of mistreating innocent patients who have done absolutely nothing to provoke such treatment.

Impossible to get an appointment

Securing an appointment here seems utterly impossible, and it appears nobody truly cares about patient retention. I completed a blood test nearly a month ago and have been struggling just to obtain my results. I've been instructed to book a phone consultation, not an in-person meeting. Upon checking their website, the earliest available slot is mid-October, while we're only at September's beginning. When I contacted the GP and inquired about an earlier appointment, the initial response was dismissive. The first representative told me to call back Monday, and when I did, an aggressive staff member immediately and emphatically declared "NO APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE" without even hearing my request. I'm astounded by the unreasonable wait time for a simple phone consultation regarding test results. Compared to other GP practices where patients can typically secure same-week appointments, Essex Lodge seems incredibly unaccommodating. The wait is so prolonged that I sarcastically suggest even prisoners would receive more timely medical attention. This experience is completely unacceptable.
