Patient feedback reveals a deeply polarised experience at this practice, with stark contrasts between clinical care quality and operational accessibility. Many patients report positive encounters with medical professionals, describing courteous, compassionate, and competent care during consultations. However, these clinical strengths are significantly undermined by widespread and persistent difficulties accessing services. Appointment booking emerges as the dominant concern, with patients describing the online system as unreliable, the phone lines as frequently disconnected, and waiting times ranging from weeks to months. Reception experience is frequently criticised, with reports of unhelpful staff, barriers to access, and poor communication. The practice's relocation and recent merger appear to have exacerbated these organisational challenges.
Beyond appointment access, patients highlight communication failures across multiple areas: missed callbacks, cancelled prescriptions without notification, and inadequate responsiveness to concerns. Some patients report feeling dismissed when seeking urgent support, with staff directing them elsewhere rather than offering immediate assistance. A smaller number of patients describe excellent experiences with efficient booking, welcoming staff, and responsive service, suggesting inconsistency in service delivery.
While clinical expertise and professional demeanour are frequently praised, the practice's operational systems and reception barriers create substantial frustration. Patients express particular concern about the limited booking window, reliance on digital platforms that malfunction, and the perception that access to care is being deliberately restricted. For many, these systemic issues have prompted switching to alternative providers despite acknowledging the quality of medical care received.

Asthma review with abbey was simply perfect
Just underwent an incredibly comprehensive Asthma consultation with Abbey. Perfect score. Absolutely no room for criticism.

Terrible medical practice with zero customer service
Absolutely terrible healthcare facility with incompetent management. Scheduling an appointment is a complete nightmare. Multiple times, I've endured waiting periods exceeding two months without successfully securing a single consultation. The front desk staff seem utterly useless, failing to perform their most basic duty of booking patient visits. The whole operation is nothing short of ridiculous.

Unreliable prescription service disappoints frustrated patient
Completely astounding how this 'digital' prescription platform shuts down as early as 11am on certain days. The quality of service has undeniably deteriorated. Scheduled phone consultations are equally unreliable, frequently going unattended.

Fantastic care transformed my initial frustration
Upgraded my rating from a single star due to initial booking system challenges to a perfect score because every single medical professional I've encountered here has been absolutely wonderful. As long as you follow the correct procedure, same-day appointments are readily available.

Dangerous doctor dismisses patient's critical health concerns
I feel like my health concerns are being brushed aside unless I'm being warned about life-threatening medication interactions. Exercise caution; not all medical professionals demonstrate the expertise you'd expect. It's crucial to independently verify information and hold doctors accountable for their medical duties. I cannot recommend Dr. Kempson under any circumstances; his medical competence is severely lacking. Update: Interestingly, he retired around the same time medical negligence began investigating him... though that could potentially be mere coincidence, I suppose.

Terrible service putting patients health at serious risk
This general practice is hands down the most ineffective healthcare provider I've encountered. Their appointment system is strictly online, with an extremely limited 3-hour booking window. For those of us working night shifts, this scheduling approach creates significant challenges. Right now, I'm dealing with a potentially serious cancer concern, yet I'm unable to secure a doctor's consultation. The situation is completely unacceptable

Responsive management turns negative review around
Following my negative review (below) of a recent doctor's appointment, I received a swift and proactive response from the Practice Manager who initially called me and then set up a meeting. Our discussion was highly constructive and positive. I now have complete faith that Five Valleys is dedicated to service enhancement, and I believe patient feedback and support will be crucial in helping the organization continue to improve. Recognizing the challenges of a large patient base and NHS limitations, implementing meaningful changes takes time to transform the surgery into a top-tier healthcare provider. I want to express my deep appreciation for the support we've received over the years from numerous staff members and doctors, with special gratitude to our GP, Dr Brown. Thank you all. Re prior appointment - rated three stars Despite NHS constraints and recent challenges with appointment scheduling, my husband and I have consistently found that once we see a doctor, the experience has been positive, characterized by kind, caring, and supportive communication. My recent consultation with a new doctor dramatically altered this perception. Her questioning style struck me as confrontational, and I felt distinctly uncomfortable with the consultation's overall tone. She appeared to lack the compassionate bedside manner and empathy one expects from a medical professional. Although she promptly arranged a referral, I cannot envision accepting another appointment with her. When this practice was Stroud Family Practice, it was a genuine pleasure, with friendly staff and exceptional medical care. I previously recommended it enthusiastically to friends. Regrettably, following the move and organizational changes, that is no longer the case.

Terrible doctors who failed to listen or care
Utterly appalling medical care, these practitioners display a complete lack of anatomical understanding and an inflated sense of superiority. They disregard patient discomfort, minimize concerns, invalidate experiences, and completely dismiss reported symptoms. I am definitively done with this healthcare provider. I would sooner seek alternative treatment approaches like traditional Chinese medicine than endure their callous and incompetent approach.

Terrible service with unanswered calls and frustration
Attempted to schedule a consultation today, but encountered frustration. Staff claimed to be on a meal break, and incoming calls were being ignored. Completely unacceptable. I'll be returning to my previous service provider at Beeches Green. Steer clear of this establishment.

Frustrating website ruins otherwise excellent service
Scheduling, modifying, or canceling appointments with this organization is an absolute nightmare. While the staff and clinicians are dedicated and hardworking, their website is utterly ineffective and frustrating. That's my take on it, at least!

Poor!
Terrible healthcare experience with endless waiting times
Complete farce, impossible to secure an appointment, and when you finally arrive, the waiting room is nearly empty, blood tests require months of waiting, it's unacceptable that patients must divulge personal health details to a receptionist, the service is utterly shameful.

Unhelpful medical service wastes time and resources
These medical professionals seem utterly useless, constantly redirecting patients to other services instead of addressing issues directly. If your condition isn't immediately life-threatening, they'll just tell you to ring 111 or visit minor injuries. For anything more serious, they simply pass you off to A&E or the hospital. It's infuriating how they dodge actual work and dump their responsibilities onto other services like spineless bureaucrats.

Terrible healthcare service with zero patient support
Terrible service with no doctor appointments available. The only provider I've encountered is Lorraine Thoms, who promised to make a referral but failed to do so. As a result, I've been languishing on a waiting list for nearly twelve months. Anyone genuinely concerned about their medical well-being should steer clear of this practice.

Frustrating and slow healthcare experience with poor communication
Lacks attentiveness and requires constant repetition before understanding. The service is unhelpful when it comes to redirecting patients to the weight loss management team. Moreover, there's been an unacceptable delay of almost two months before the mental health services reached out after the referral. When urgent assistance is needed, the support simply isn't there.

Terrible service and misleading doctor's office hours
Been anticipating a call from the medical office since 11 AM, and still no contact. Now they claim they're closed, despite their website stating they're open until 6:30 PM. This is absolutely ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

Terrible pharmacy service that drives patients away
Service is absolutely dire nowadays! While they were excellent at Beeches Green, their move to the new town location has seen a steady decline! I cannot count the numerous occasions over the past two years where I've visited Tesco pharmacy only to find my prescription hasn't been sent through!!! I personally spoke with a receptionist and a doctor during my annual review about setting up my bi-monthly prescription like previous years, and they both assured me it would be sorted. Yet when I went to collect today, nothing was there!!! As always, they attempted to shift blame onto Tesco. Last year's annual review was conducted via phone, which was particularly frustrating considering I had suffered from Dengue fever earlier that year! Previously, I would be scheduled for an appointment with blood tests and everything. Their new online booking system is equally atrocious! Rather than a straightforward appointment booking button, you're forced to navigate through multiple clicks, with only a Follow Up appointment option visible. For individuals not comfortable with technology, it's completely unworkable. They claim to want patients using the website, yet their internal communication remains abysmal. I genuinely believe they're intentionally discouraging patients! Today, I was 10th in the phone queue and waited half an hour just to be answered! Once again, I'll need to make a special 3-mile trip to collect my medications! I've reached my limit and will definitely be changing surgeries!

Disappointing decline in medical service quality
Since their relocation, the quality of healthcare has drastically declined. Patients endure months-long wait times for appointments, encounter different doctors at each visit, and are restricted to a virtually inaccessible online contact system that operates just three hours daily during weekdays. Effectively, working individuals have zero opportunity to reach the surgery. The lack of consistent medical care is utterly unacceptable. After being a loyal patient for nearly half a century, I will definitely be changing practices immediately!

Worst medical service ever terrible appointment scheduling
Their service is abysmal. Whenever I attempt to schedule an appointment, it's impossible to secure one. If the medical professionals aren't delivering care, why are they still receiving government funding? It appears this problem is widespread, affecting everyone. When I simply requested a future appointment, they dismissively directed me to call 111. It seems the doctors are more focused on collecting their payments than actually treating patients. This isn't an isolated incident—it's a persistent problem. I'm prepared to escalate this by lodging a formal complaint with the ombudsman. What an utterly shameful establishment.
