On Wednesday, I suffered a plaster injury to my eye and was initially directed to Fordingbridge Hospital. Unfortunately, the facility was ill-prepared to handle my specific medical need. Feeling frustrated, I sought help at the local doctor's surgery. Despite not being fully equipped for such a situation, a compassionate nurse generously interrupted her lunch break to carefully clean my eye. She creatively addressed the problem, providing crucial temporary treatment that bought me sufficient time to reach the emergency eye hospital. I would also like to commend the reception staff, who were incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the process.

lifesaving care from a diligent gp
A close relative recently encountered some persistent health concerns and was initially seen by our local GP, who subsequently referred them to a specialist at Salisbury District Hospital for diagnostic testing. The initial test results appeared to suggest the patient was cancer-free (which had been an initial concern). However, our Fordingbridge Surgery GP carefully reviewed the results and felt uneasy about certain aspects, subsequently recommending a return to the same consultant for more targeted examinations. Several weeks later, following additional testing, a serious cancer diagnosis was confirmed, necessitating immediate surgical intervention and a radiotherapy treatment plan. Fortunately, the treatment was prompt and successful, and the family member is now cancer-free. The hospital consultant specifically highlighted the exceptional diligence of the family member's GP, noting that their insistence on further specific testing was crucial in identifying the cancer. Without the GP's proactive approach, the cancer would likely have remained undetected, potentially becoming untreatable. Unlike many other public reviews, this Surgery comprises dedicated professionals working under extremely challenging conditions (COVID, funding constraints, medical staffing shortages), and has necessarily adapted its operations through e-consults and telephone triage systems. While the new interaction methods can occasionally cause frustration (the e-consult form definitely requires simplification), it's critical to recognize that the Surgery employs outstanding GPs who genuinely go above and beyond, ultimately saving lives. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Surgery, and particularly to Dr Arthur in this instance. As for those individuals leaving negative reviews about parking, when a substantial public car park is merely a short walk away, such criticisms seem entirely misplaced.

Getting an appointment at this surgery is incredibly frustrating. You'll spend around half an hour waiting on hold before anyone picks up. However, when someone finally answers, they are genuinely friendly and supportive. The clinic desperately needs to improve their appointment booking system. Their online scheduling platform is notably unreliable and fails to function properly.

The claim that this medical facility is the 'heart of the surgery' is utterly absurd. The blonde-haired receptionist at the front desk is arguably the most disagreeable and coldest individual I have ever encountered. Her consistently hostile, discourteous, and callous demeanor demonstrates a complete lack of professional conduct and requires immediate intervention in basic interpersonal skills and empathy. The parking situation desperately needs addressing. While I comprehend the necessity of the drive-through blood testing area, its current placement is extremely problematic, effectively blocking access to the disabled parking spaces near the entrance. This arrangement is not only frustrating but also displays a profound disregard for patients with mobility challenges.

Absolutely subpar. An unidentified individual left a message for my mother advising her to discontinue her prescribed medication. When the physician finally responded, they claimed no knowledge of the source of this message and emphasized that the advice was completely incorrect. The ongoing pandemic is not a valid justification for such consistently inadequate service.

Rude receptionists made me want to switch practices
I've only been a patient here for a short while, and given that both my husband and I are disabled, navigating medication management through the reception desk has become an incredibly frustrating experience. Never in my entire life have I been treated with such disrespect. With a background in caregiving, I understand the importance of treating people with dignity and compassion, but the reception staff here are shockingly dismissive and contemptuous towards patients. Their attitude is completely unacceptable, and as a result, I'm actively seeking a new medical practice that actually values patient care.

Attempted to deliver a flu vaccination document from the pharmacy, and was instructed to hand it to a volunteer. The form contained sensitive personal information, raising serious privacy concerns. Parking was a nightmare, with numerous spaces inexplicably blocked off. Had to make a second trip later, completely squandering my time and patience.

Disrespectful and incompetent staff treated me poorly after I explained I couldn't wear a mask due to recent neck and throat surgery. I was made to wait 15 minutes only to be verbally attacked and ultimately told to leave the premises, despite my medical condition.
