Many of the clinicians at this practice appear to lack understanding regarding mental health matters. They have repeatedly referenced the frequency of my contact requests, despite the fact that I am currently experiencing a crisis and have been seeking support for an extended period. Additionally, there were inaccurate comments made about my scheduled appointments with my mental health team, when in fact those appointments had been cancelled. Mental health concerns deserve the same level of recognition and importance as physical health issues, yet I felt dismissed and made to feel like a burden rather than supported. This kind of treatment contributes to broader concerns about mental health care. I have documentation to support that the characterisation of my contact frequency is inaccurate. In a recent appointment, I felt the clinician showed limited empathy and appeared to rely heavily on information provided by my mental health team regarding risk assessment, rather than forming their own understanding of my situation. I am deeply concerned about how this interaction has been documented in my medical records and the potential implications. This experience has led me to decide to transfer my care to a different practice.

Receptionist dismissive about vaccine appointment letter policy

I have been a patient at Front St GP's for a year. They have consistently been responsive to our family's appointment requests. All of the clinical staff I have encountered have been excellent. However, I do have a concern I would like to raise. The practice does not issue reminder letters for a particular childhood vaccination. I attended an appointment to enquire whether my child, who was approaching an important vaccination milestone, might have been overlooked from their contact system. The receptionist stated firmly that Front St does not send out reminders for this vaccination. When I attempted to provide feedback that this approach differs from standard NHS guidance recommending that practices should issue such reminders, particularly given current public health concerns, the receptionist's response felt dismissive rather than receptive. For context, we had been contacted regarding my child's other vaccinations. Our appointment has now been scheduled for two weeks after the relevant date. Had we not proactively contacted the practice, it appears my child would not have received this vaccination. This is concerning, given that improving vaccination coverage remains an important public health objective.

The reception team members displayed behaviour that I found quite unpleasant throughout my interactions with them. When I raised concerns about this, it appeared that management did not take these matters seriously, as there seemed to be no meaningful changes in how I was treated. The reception staff also appeared to disconnect calls abruptly, sometimes after I had been waiting in a queue for a considerable time. The clinical staff came across as unengaged, and I found it necessary to make repeated attempts to secure appointments before receiving any meaningful assistance. It felt as though various reasons were offered to conclude consultations quickly rather than address my concerns thoroughly. Having registered with several different practices in different locations, I found this particular experience to be significantly less satisfactory than others I have encountered. Based on my experience, I would suggest that those seeking attentive care and respectful treatment may wish to consider alternative options.

Reception staff gave helpful advance notice about appointment slots

The receptionist I spoke with was attentive and provided excellent assistance. I requested a telephone appointment with a particular clinician, and while none were immediately available, I was informed that a limited number of slots would be released the following day for booking approximately two weeks ahead. I was advised these would likely fill rapidly, so I should call early in the morning. I did so and successfully secured an appointment. Without this helpful guidance, I may not have been aware of the available slots and could have experienced a longer delay in accessing the care I needed.

Online booking removed for GP appointments only

Booking an appointment I have noticed that it is no longer possible to book a general practitioner appointment through the online system, although nurse appointments remain available for online booking. As someone with hearing difficulties who finds telephone conversations challenging, I am uncertain about how to proceed with scheduling an appointment. The option to visit the surgery in person is no longer available following recent changes, which means telephone contact seems to be the only alternative available to me. I believe this approach creates a barrier for patients with hearing impairments and am puzzled by the removal of an online booking option that was previously accessible and which I have regularly relied upon.
