Receptionist dismissive until pushing for face-to-face appointment

My young child was unwell and sent home from school, with a request for a medical assessment. I called at midday and was offered a telephone callback appointment. When the clinician rang back, they indicated there were no in-person slots available that day and suggested over the phone that the illness appeared to be viral. I felt dismissed by this response and pushed for a face-to-face visit, which was arranged for the following morning. At that appointment, my child was examined and prescribed a course of antibiotics lasting ten days. In my view, the appointment system could be improved.

Sick note wasn't ready when promised

I am providing feedback on behalf of my husband regarding his recent visit to collect a document he had requested earlier in the week. Unfortunately, the item was not available for collection when he arrived, and he was advised to consider seeking care elsewhere if he felt unsatisfied with the service. Some members of the reception team could benefit from additional training in customer service skills, as the interaction was not as helpful as it could have been.

Reception staff struggled with basic patient details

The clinical staff member was pleasant, though the practice appeared to be under strain. One member of the reception team seemed unfamiliar with their role. I was asked to provide my identification details repeatedly throughout my visit. Despite confirming these details, they appeared to be recorded inaccurately in the system. There were difficulties observed with the use of the computer system by staff. I was also addressed by an incorrect name on more than one occasion, despite having stated my name several times.

Difficult to book appointments by phone

I have found this practice to be unhelpful over an extended period, and I struggle to engage with them effectively. When I recently attempted to arrange an appointment that had been suggested to me, my request was declined immediately. This occurred on the same day I had received an important letter regarding my health. I am unable to secure an appointment. There appears to be no alternative booking method available aside from telephone contact if that option is not suitable for you.

Appointment lottery system needs rethinking

I appreciate that the practice is busy, but the current appointment booking method feels frustrating. Calling at opening time to try to secure a slot feels like a lottery system. I spent an hour on the phone from 8am without managing to get through. I've attempted using the online consultation option as well, though that involves a two working day wait.
